  1. So I spent most of the afternoon doing some tidying up around the engine bay. I painted manifold heat shield and de-rusted a number of the mounts and gave them a quick coat of black paint. Here's a bunch of photos I decided to take a look at my dizzy cap. It looks like it may have been replaced recently, its very clean inside. I noticed oil build up in a nice straight line below the rocker panel. Does this suggest I could do with replacing the gasket, or is it normal dirt build up?
  2. Not had a chance to try the washers yet. Today I got new rubber on the front and figured out my rubbing brake problems. I cleaned off some rust and brake dust build up, which allowed the pad to sit better and move freer. The mg zs console/arm rest were £45 posted which seemed reasonable. Still waiting for the grey trim pieces to show up next week. I splurged on a new head unit today, so will get that fitted tomorrow. I'll get some pics tomorrow
  3. Thanks, not had it done before, just making sure I'm not getting put over a barrel
  4. New tyres, now pulls left a bit. Kwik fit want £40 for front alignment, too much? They'll check it for free at least...
  5. Looks great Nice clean engine bay too.
  6. That's pretty handy The best I can get local to me is a tiny single garage for about £36 a month, but there's no space for anything but the car itself.
  7. Loving all the polishing. Are you just blasting them with a wire brush attachment or something? Makes me wish I had a workshop/large garage to work in. Working on the street is a pain in the ar$e!
  8. Ah right. I'm slowly getting my head around some of this stuff, lol
  9. Is there a specific type of filter that fits these boxes, or any generic cone filter work?
  10. Got it. Tapering nuts... New tyres tomorrow, then tinkering time. Hopefully my MG ZS trim parts will arrive today, so I have the weekend to tinker and get my interior re-assembled.
  11. Love it! What did you use for a mounting bracket?
  12. OK, stupid question time. How big are my nuts?? One thing I found out last night is that the locking wheel nuts on my car are absolute sh!te! Corroded and chrome peeling off. Just need some nice generic replacements, not bothered about locking. Am I correct in saying they're M12x1.5? Not sure if I need spherical or dome, but my current nuts curve in...
  13. Nah, to be honest I don't think I've listened to a radio intentionally for about 10 years, so DAB is the bottom of the pile
  14. Right, well new head unit is on next months list I think. I'm looking for something in the £50 - £100 ball park that'll do blutooth, maybe DAB (not too bothered) and aux in.
  15. Just ordered new front tyres to be fitted on Saturday. I went with the Goodyear's in the end. So now I'm just waiting on the interior trim pieces to arrive. Hopefully tomorrow
  16. Citroen Xsara apparently. Were cheap so hopefully they'll fit (I've read that xsara ones do fit so fingers crossed) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170975019018
  17. This project hasn't got enough pictures (click for bigger): (I think I found my slow puncture!) And lastly, a few more trinkets to fit:
  18. That's what I suspected Well, new head unit and maybe speakers are going on the list lol
  19. Would you go to the trouble of re-wiring with new wire when sticking in some better speakers? I'm talking a basic upgrade, not a super new fancy head unit/amp, just a basic £75 head unit upgrade.
  20. Yeah, I think disassemble and clean and grease properly is what I need to do... Especially as I just rang Honda to check on how much new ones would cost. £60+vat EACH for the front and £66+vat each for the rears! That's almost as much as new calipers! I think I'll be getting the wire brush out... Maybe clean them up and hammerite them or something,
  21. These are attached. They're like thin bicycle innertube rubber or something (and smell fishy )
