Ry4nC
Thought I'd ask the question because I don't have a clue about it.What are the pro's and con's of heat wrapping the manifold? Is there any point? My manifold looks quite shocking but is functioning normally. I was thinking of stripping it of its accumulation of rust and s**t.. Paint it and then wrap on top..
dr_broon
Two things a far as i know. Helps keep engine bay temp down, and keeps exhaust gases got, which means they flow faster.

EmZvr
Anyone have any real evidence that it helps? When I researched this mod years ago I did not find any. Also this stopped me: http://www.centuryperformance.com/exhaust-header-heat-wraps-do-not-use.html
Krzys
I would say realistically on your 1.4 it's not worth doing unless you want it for the look.
Ry4nC
Tbf I don't think I would gain much on it so it would be mainly fro the look.. I suppose every little helps
Krzys
I scuffed the bottom of my manifold a couple of times and it fell off! What about the wrap?
fyfie5
I scuffed the bottom of my manifold a couple of times and it fell off! same! and if you are going to do it, make sure the stuff is soaking wet (much easier to wrap round) and use metal zip ties
EdGasket
Does manifold wrap help with slightly leaking exhaust from a cracked manifold (this is on a Hyundai with a cast manifold) or would it just blow/burn straight through? The leak is not enough to have been spotted at MoT or to cause the emissions to fail.
