Engine stalling

Hi Guys

 

I have a little problem. My 1.4 Civic sport has developed a stalling issue. A few months ago i cleaned the throttle body it was choked with carbon and that sorted it. However now she will stall when warm and cold. For example when i pull up at lights etc. I rev her up then she will just stall. EGR valve ? Fuel pump ? i am really fed up with this now just had my quarter panel replaced lol.

When it is running, where does the rev counter sit when it's at idle? Might want adjusting up a notch.

She will idle around 500rpm then sometimes just cut out completely its strange as hell/

That sounds a bit too low, if you adjust the idle up so it's around 800-900 rpm that will hopefully stop it stalling when you come to a stop.

Interesting.. Mine idles around 500 too with no issues.

 

On my Haynes manual it says the following:

 

"The idle speed should be D14A2, D15z3, d16y2, d16y3 - 550 rpm +- 50"

 

And for other other d series engines (d15 and d16) and all DOHC models it should be 480 +-50

around 750 rpm, in the work manual

If the throttle body is no longer the issue.......re-setting your ECU should see your engine ticking over circa 750 RPM.

Thanks guys really don't know if i am honest, somebody told fuel pump relay and now i have a slipping clutch. At least with that its straight forward. Fed right up now if I'm honest

Don't give up just yet....it's a doddle to reset the ECU and there's every chance the reset will cure your cutting out problem.

I hooked her up to a diagnostic all came back clear and for the moment she is fine. I think it was a bad batch of fuel or cheap supermarket fuel. Anyway now have to sort the clock bulb an we all know what a pain the neck that one is.
