ABS Light and Parking Brake Light On

Hello there,

I've got a 1999 Honda Civic Aerodeck 1.6i SR (D16W4) and since today I've started witnessing a weird issue regarding the ABS. Basically I was heading home when suddenly my ABS and parking brake light came on shortly after entering a cobble stones road and it stood that way until I finally got home. After that I've turned my vehicle off and let it rest for like an hour. I then returned to the car and noticed that both the lights were off after i started the car. After driving for a few minutes (like 5 minutes) the lights came back on and stood that way for the remaining part of the journey. After that that I've tried to identify potential error codes. i bridge 2 pins in the Data Link Connector (5P), however there were no error to be seen whatsoever and the lights stood on the all time. I then turned the car off once again and let it rest for an hour and just like before, when I got back and started the car, the lights were off. With that being said I've tried slamming the brakes to make sure my ABS was indeed working which it was. After successfully stopping the car with a fully working ABS system, the two lights came back on.
After browsing my car's digital service manual (1999 version available on this site) i noticed that my vehicle is equipped with EDB. And according to the manual, if there's an issue regarding the EDB the parking brake light is supposed to come on followed the ABS light. So, is there any problem related to the EBD insted of ABS ?
I checked my car's braking fluid and noticed that the fluid level is in the max line.

Based on what I just wrote, does anyone know what might be the issue? Could it be the ABS Module? What do you think?

It's hard to say mate as any fault with the ABS should throw a code so the fact there is not code is strange. How long was the car standing for before you did the test for abs code? It may be worth driving it till the light comes on then stop and do the test there and then. Does the parking brake light come on when the abs light is on every time?

I took the test while the lights were on, and they didn't report any errors. I also drove the car until the lights turned on, then I turned off the car, bridge the two pins and still did not report any code (lights were still on after restart). 

I noticed something after writing this post. During the night on the same day, I slammed twice the brakes and the lights didn't turn on and the ABS worked, which didn't happen before. Could it be because of the heat? Where I live that day were about 40 degrees outside. Maybe the pump has a problem when it's very hot. And yes, the two lights (parking brake light and ABS) turn on simultaneously ever time.

It could very well be due to the heat mate. Know at the moment when we have the occasional really hot day (yes, has been happening in Scotland believe it or not! lol) our wee MINI Cooper S convertible has started doing an odd thing. The doors open and close without any noise under normal temps, but when its really hot the hinges ect are creaking and cracking like crazy. I've got them all greased, but just seems to be with the metal expanding with the the heat it's causing them to creak. So could be there's maybe something in that that's causing the issue with your abs.

A small update. The ABS and brake light continue to turn on after a few minutes of drive. I took a bigger trip and the lights turned on and off along the way and I still don't know what the problem is. I disabled the brake fluid level sensor but the lights continue to turn on after a few minutes of drive. ABS still does not report any errors. I've already checked the fuses, connections and some ABS grounds. I will check the ABS sensors and the ABS connector next.

Really difficult to diagnose without a code showing.

Could Check the tooth rings on the hubs and the sensors are not dirty

I have the same problem, the ABS and handbrake lights are always on. Where did you see that from ebd

Depois de navegar no manual de serviço digital do meu carro (versão de 1999 disponível neste site), percebi que meu veículo está equipado com EDB. E de acordo com o manual, se houver um problema com relação ao EDB, a luz do freio de estacionamento deve acender após a luz do ABS. Então, há algum problema relacionado ao EBD em vez do ABS?
Verifiquei o fluido de freio do meu carro e percebi que o nível do fluido está na linha máxima.

Com base no que acabei de escrever, alguém sabe qual pode ser o problema? Poderia ser o Módulo ABS? O que você acha?

Every 99+ Civic have EBD. Check the 99 service manual available on this site. In my case, the problem was the ABS Module. I change that and the lights were immediately off.

Can you tell me which page of the manual this is on? I didn't find anything talking about EBD

Can you send me some photos of this part of the ebd. Excuse my ignorance but I didn't find anything about this in the manual on this site
