sx baz
Well i decided it might be time to start a project thread, traditionally im quite poor at updating them but ill be trying my best even though my current photo selection is a bit pants So i sold my e36 bmw and went on the hunt for an mb6 as a daily driver to run along with my s13 200sx toy, Japanese cars are what its all about for me so i picked up this little baby.Full honda service history and 1 owner from new with no rust, shes a keeperWith no tax disc holder or keyring i decided to get on ebay and find something to buy so i bought these:holderair freshenernice new keyringAs always i ended up buying something else while i was on there, a cheekey k+n panel filterI decided this was the best option for cost/performance, so ive fitted the filter and removed the resonator in the front wing. I will be making up a cold air feed for the filter box soon to finish off the intake properly.Next up, i decided that the stereo was a bit tired, so a speaker upgrade and a decent amp were in order.Back on ebay i picked up a top quality genesis profile 4 amplifier, then a nice set of rainbow slx 265 components to go in the front doorsSo i made up some plywood speaker rings to convert the original holes to accept the bigger 6.5" componentsI also nipped down to wickes and picked up a couple of rolls of lead flashing to sound deaden the doors.Next up was threading the new wiring... i decided that i didnt want to chop into the original wiring loom so i disconnected the plugs going from the wings to the doors and drilled out the spare pins untill cables could pass throughRing and wiring fitted Luckily the tweeters fitted perfectly in the oem places using the original metal tweeter brackets so that was easy to wire up, while i was at it i mounted the crossovers on the inside of the door card in the recess left by the door handle/arm rest.speakers mounted with enough clearance to the window... i tidied up the excess wire afterwards to avoid snagsdoor cars back on and sitting in their new home, nice and stealthy tooLastly i mounted the amp on the smaller of the splitfold rear seatsthe speakers sounds excellent and the amp powers them with so much ease, ive wanted a decent quality sounding setup for a long time and i think a little sub would finish it nicely in the future. sx baz
while i was doing the speaker install, i noticed a lot of dead leaves in the inner wings, this was the perfect recipe for rust from the inside out, so i got outside and dropped the wheel arch liners... To say there was a bit of muck in there was an understatementAnd on the floorExcellent compost... just a shame im not a gardener!I decided to leave the mudflaps off... A) because i hate them and because i think they can cause more harm than good. With the fronts off i moved to the rear of the car... now i could tell by the fronts that the wheels hadnt been off in a long long time and the nuts had been over tightened. Unfortunatley for me both the rear locking wheel nuts sheared off leaving thisF~#king A$$hole! The end of the nut was stuck in the tool so i drilled the tool out, rather than spend 15 quid on a wheel nut removal tool that may or may not work i decided to nip to the friendly garage near work with the locking wheel nut key, They managed to use the key and impact gun to get both the rear lockers off thankfully and only asked a tenner for it These went in the binMy exhaust has been blowing for a month or so from the middle and the backbox baffles had collapsed, anyway i decided it was time to pick up a replacement so i nabbed a sports cat on ebay, then a few days later a longlife catback system came up for sale which was also a quiet system... exactly what i was looking for.So this morning i went down to my mates workshop and got the mb on the ramp, the old system came off and the new was on... unfortunately i forgot to grab any pics except this one which was in sepia for some reason lolAnyway.. it fitted nicely and sounds almost oem with a slightly deeper tone at certain revs.

Hopefully ill get it out on track and maybe learn to drift in it this year, its around 300bhp at the moment.

sx baz
haha cheers mate, the coolest thing about that photo was that was the car had just been vinyl wrapped in purple and as me and my mate opened the shutters to move it outside a couple of japanese tourists came in and took a load of photos of it which made all the hard work seem worthwhile. KiNK43
That was a nice little read for a Sunday morning. Two beautiful cars you've got there. You've got the styling spot on with the s13. Be a shame to drift it and have it held together with nylon ties tho!
