Hi all, thought I'd start a build thread as I love reading everyone else's. Don't expect too much, though!

2001 X MB2 1.4i Sport

Purchased February 2013 with 78k. Completely stock. Price: £950.

Service and timing belt change done after buying the car.

MOTd March 7th - no advisories

Upgrades so far

Replaced exhaust with standard item as was blowing and previous owner welded centre section to back box

Replaced rear shocks as both were beginning to leak

Foot rest from my old MB6

Rubber dash tray from my MB6

Shorter aerial

Clear side repeaters

New numberplates - I always do this, freshens things up

Heater resistor pack repair kit - Thanks for the tip on here, spent £7 and now have all four settings not just 3+4!

Pioneer DEH-2300UBB Headunit

Pioneer TS-G1723i 17cm 6.5" (Fr) using speaker adaptor leads so I didn't have to mess with wiring

Infinity Reference 10cm (Bk).

Pi 40mm lowering springs.

Sprint SW9 16" with 195/45/r16 rubber

VTi front lip

Sprayed grill surround satin black.

Sprayed headlight innards satin black and de-tangoed.

Future

Source a replacement driver's door. This is the only part of the car with any sign of rust. It's all along the bottom, not too noticeable thankfully

Source a driver's mirror. It has a crack in it and also doesn't fold in.

Spray rear number plate lip.

Not sure what else, but sure I'll come up with something!

Pics as of 24th March 2013.

Fitting my front speakers

Out with the old, in with the new.

Held up the spacer and drilled four holes into the door.

I bought some speaker adaptor leads from eBay, to save me having to hack the block off the OE wiring. These just clip into existing wiring and on to the new speakers. Cost £3.89.

Repairing the heater resistor pack

Removed glovebox via two screws underneath the box, then removed the offending resistor pack.

Broken!

Fixed, and now all heater settings work as they should. Total cost, £7.49.

Oh yes!

I think I'm going to try the baking tray method to get the lenses off. When I de-tangoed the lights on my MB6 I managed to get the orange filters out by cutting it with a fine hacksaw blade, so didn't have to remove the lenses. I hope I don't mess it up as they're my only set. :)

They twist out without having to remove the lenses? It was a long time ago, but I'm sure I ended up cutting them and pulling/shaking the pieces out of the indicator hole. I could be thinking of something else, though. Maybe it was pliers, and not a hacksaw blade?! :)

With the hair dryer method, did you have to use silicone sealant to stick them back together?
