vtismill
Recently the temp gauge has been reading lower then usual on my car and not reaching proper temperature at all, even after a long drive it will just sit above minimum, changed the thermostat yesterday and bled cooling system but still no change, hoses are getting warm and heaters are blowing warmish so surely can't be faulty stat? think it could be temp gauge sensor or something? I don't really know, I unplugged the coolant temp sensor and that made no difference, bit lost really, any ideas would be appreciated thanks
spudley1988
I have same problem and have just ordered a stat lol. Intrigued to hear if it coud be something else tho. Does yours go up to normal temp when stationary?
vtismill
Just drove it for half hour and it didn't reach proper temp, let it idle for 5 mins and it got to temp checked both hoses and they were nice and warm so went for an enthusiastic drive, pulled over 10 mins later checked bottom hose and it was no longer warm, heaters are sporadic too, sometimes hot sometimes not so much, drove it steadily home for next 20 mins and the gauge went right down and stayed just above minimum, daren't drive it hard and havnt for last few weeks because of this

spudley1988
Nah mine is the same mate if i drive it, it doesnt reach temperature. If i sit and idle the temp gauge goes back up to normal but if i drive it usually goes back down again. I have a thermostat ordered and hope it cures it but obviously it hasnt helped yours. I'm sure someone on here is bound to have exprienced this before.
vtismill
Really frustrating isn't it, maybe my new thermostats faulty, really don't know what else it can be, hope your thermostat sorts it mate
KiNK43
Defo sounds like thermostat. They are pretty gash things. Not very well made considering the harsh environment they live in.
spudley1988
Every chance yours could be faulty mate. Take it back and try to get another one? Once mine arrives ill let ya know if it'd helped. Hope u get to the bottom of it with yours bud.
spudley1988
Just to update bud I've been told by a reliable mechanic if the thermostat doesn't sort it, theirs a chance it cud be water pump.
Dave
If the bottom hose isnt warm mate, then the system still has air in it. I found the MB6 is a pig to bleed. I think I posted up a how to on it, or posted instructions somewhere recently. Took me ages to get the air out of mine. Spudley, deffo change the thermostat first mate, and as above, make sure you really get all the air out the system or the problem will persist. If you get all the air definitely out of it and it still persists, then your mechanic is right, could be the water pump is one the way out. Check your hoses every so often to see if they do the same as vtismill.
