Scrapping / grinding sound from engine bay - MC1

As the title says, my MC1 Deck has developed a bit of a nasty metallic scrapping / grinding noise in the engine bay. Its definitely coming from the area of the belts, and sounds loudest at the front/centre by the AC Compressor. The noise is there all the time, but can vary from background noise to 'oh crap, something's going to go bang' and back again.

 

Ive had a quick look, and can't see anything on or trapped in the belts.

 

Im guessing a knackered AC Compressor or its clutch. Is this likely to be it or should i get it straight to a mechanic?

I had this once and it was a tensioner had come away and was sat in amongst the belts. Think my AC compressor was knackered too.

 

You could trial and error it by taking a belt off, start the car and see if the noise is still there. Should help narrow down what's causing it.

Had same one of the pulleys come off and fooked all belts while it was there

Yup, pully came off on Ruby first week I had her!
