BOOM! These came a couple of days ago Cheap as chips as well £90 :D Just need to make modified mani exit pipe on the drivers side and i could be looking at a proper test drive in the next monthish!!
-
Tom i didnt know that but i have looked at the location and its nearly as far as barry. Its a bit cheaper but nealy as much as well, tho looking at their parts prices, mx5 haeven are £20 cheaper than this guy quoted me! My best man has done a quite a few cambelts and the parts alone would be less than a 100 quid! and few beers for him lol
-
well i got another email from him, its £250 with labour so its not worth it as it'll come to over 300 quid!
-
i rekon 80 there and back so 210 which is still cheaper than anywhere else here, well guys i know i can do it but these sort of jobs always gone wrong for me, id rather get someone who knows what their doing and i can blame them if it goes wrong lol Another positive is we can have a day out in barry
-
SOLD fells to a old skool jap fan, he said he might put a s2000 head on the engine ? dunno if that will work. Money for the mx5 i guess, hope you all enjoyed my accord as much as i did
-
Whilst twalling ebay last night came across a service, workshop in barry wales, all he does is mx5's and del sol's. Will do a cambelt & water pump fitted for 130! Not bad but its 2 hrs and 45mins away dont know if its worth it ?
-
sad times, think i got a deffo buyer coming tomorrow, if i had the spare money and space id keep her but wifes says noo lol happy wife = me owning 2 cars
-
nope, from the reading ive done only the special versions had an lsd, and from reading replys on driftworks apprantly that diff isnt that gd anyway.
-
this diff sucks! must weld!!
-
i think i can post them to myself at disney, so much cheaper and the saving alone on postage & income tax.
-
Got the manifolds off, most were bolts and some studs, its going to be tricky getting the drivers side. Going to the US in a week, really tempted to get new block hugger headers but they weight about 6.5kgs hmm. Drivers side below.
-
Bit bits done today, as i was releasing the power steering pump to change the belt, the main long locking bolt had no nut on it! lol so as i had the air intake off, i removed the sort of recirculating added bit between inlet and maf
-
lol he guessed 5 times right! its the tailpipe!
-
Got about half a mile away from my house this morning and the power steering pump belt started screaming! Ahhh was about to pull over and it stopped! Very strange so i went to my local direct motor parts, 3 slackers chatting outside, i walk straight past them into the counter room, im standing there for near 10mins till a senior member walks out and syas You been here long? Is there there no one outside? I said 10mins and yes and so he apologised and gave me a discount!! Also this broke loose so i finished it off yesterday lol
-
Had the same slight issue with the front caliper catching but only needs maybe 1mm clearance which is mostly the outside rust build up but should look slick. Looking at cheap coilovers and picking up another open diff to get it welded
-
Right i think the rumble is from the front discs! so that will sort her out. Had some fun yesterday finding out in the wet if she has a open diff lol which she does! Im actually enjoying driving the mx5 i might keep her and go crazy mod wise! Anyone seen this guys mx5 rod ? http://instagram.com/bossroadster Also did a trial fit

Adding the gearbox oil today, i think it needs 10 litres!
-
yeah i know, i want to sell it and get a better one or even something different!
-
i know mate, just the accord has 12 months mot now and the insurance ran out as well, so i think the plan is do her up and move her along while its still gd season, if only i could make a business of this lol
-
fitted the new sump gasket and filter on the gearbox, discovered why it was leaking in the first place, the gasket cut out of some like magizine card! Next is the manifolds!
-
well i guessed it could be around £600, he said he would find out some prices and call me but hasnt yet. Did the rear pads earlier, had a problem i couldnt get the caliper piston back, it was just solid! i thought this cant be right and some googling its got a screw on the back that winds the piston in and out....not bad designs until its siezed lol Also did a oil change, after putting in the new stuff i started it up the bloody power steering pump started whining like hell but its ok now how odd. The rumble at the back is still there, must be bearing but im getting a second at the weekend.
-
lol tom they are had to find in the right condition for the right price, i paid 900 quid, that cheap ? spoke to a body shop today, he rekon to weld in new panels and paint it £600 which is not cheap! I might be moving this one sooner than later

99 Mazda Mx5, 121000 miles, has 12 months mot after welding, 2 new front tyres! Issues so far is, exhuast is rotten, the rear arches need doing, rear pads are like paper, the front discs are thin, the engine needs a service. The inside was filthy, the body overall is gd, the head lights need a polish. The roof has a tiny hole and the centre compartment needs replacing. So things to do: Polish headlights Upgrade exhuast Fix roof hole Fit new rear pads Fit new front discs Engine needs full service Maybe fit an lsd/weld diff Get it lowered Upgraded speakers Fit wheels So far it handles very well and not surprized, the amount anti-roll bars undernrth!
-
You know my old skool wheels i refurbed, they will fit the mx5
-
haha i knew you would, come on guys i need a few more hungry eyes
