  1. The metal strip came with the induction kit, it was long and straight, I cut it in half then used 2 pairs of mole grips to bend it to the shape I wanted I've taken the induction kit off now and gone back to the standard air box, going to get a performance panel filter instead I was getting alot of heat soak, I was going to give it back to my mate but he just said to sell it
  2. Yeah much as I'd like to go down the lowering path, it's not an option I'm afraid, got a incline then a lower drive so I can't get lowered cars on the drive
  3. New alloys fitted Also sport spoiler fitted, massive thanks to Mr Brown for sending me it almost looks like my old MB4 now, have got sohc Vtec decals on the way too
  4. Cheers Paul, I've probably gotten myself chewed up for nowt A few months ago I had a Zafira, I threw loads of money into it, getting engine work done, and when I was £600 lighter it started knocking with streetfulls of blue smoke so lost on it big time when I sold it Really don't want a headache from my Civic as I went back to Honda because of their reputation and my past civics/accords giving me no grief at all
  5. I've just been out for a spirited drive, all the while temp sat bang on just under half, heaters nice and hot Upon checking the hoses, top hose was red hot, bottom just very warm, should they both be the same temperature? No massive pressurising when I undid the rad cap
  6. I will change it tomorrow and see if that cures it Guy over the road who used to be a honda tech reckons its the stat, although he said it was at the back of the engine, from bottom hose I thought its at the front left, where top hose goes into?
  7. I've done nothing to the cooling system, apart from topping up from min to max in the expansion tank day I got the car I've just been out in it again and the fans do stop the temp from going into the red, it stops about half a centimetre before and holds there Soon as I rev engine or drive off it drops quite quickly back to just below half where it stays there all the time whilst being driven Theyres no mention of cambelt or thermostat in the history I have noticed heaters are only quite warm at idle, soon as you rev engine or drive off they come through red hot I've not checked hoses, I will do tomorrow, is the thermostat relatively easy to change? It does get up to operating temp very quickly, in around 5 minutes I really don't want to be having to put a cambelt and water pump on yet, I did all that to my last car, over 500 quids worth for the engine to go a month later Some comfort to know i'm not alone, I was hoping this was normal with the 1.4
  8. Had a bit of a bottom twitching moment this afternoon, I was waiting in traffic and happened to glance at my temp gauge and was surprised to see it at 3/4, never seen a honda temp gauge go above just below half before I sat and watched it rise to just above 3/4 expecting it to start to drop when fans kicked in which is usually accompanied by a slight judder from the car but nothing. Panicked now I revved the engine and immediately after I do that the temp starts to drop, then I left it to idle again and it started to creep up again, by now I switched the engine off when it was about just under half a centimetre from the red line Then when the engine was off I could hear the cooling fan running but not at a fast pace Is this normal? There is no coolant usage and it was sitting just above max in the expansion tank
  9. Light came on today whilst waiting outside school, came in because I was parked on a side gradient It does have one
  10. Thanks mate, will do New wheels are going on today, and next on the agenda is a spoiler, Mr Brown has kindly sorted me out with his old sport spoiler
  11. Fitted new tie rod ends today and a lazy mans cv boot No more Knocky knockin' and wandering around Yay
  12. Cheers for that, least I know now, I usually always keep above a quarter of a tank anyway So is that likely of caused it to be lumpy for a few seconds before I moved off? Car was on the drive facing slightly down hill, it was like it was running on 3 cylinders briefly
  13. As title do all m's have one? I remember my ES mb4 did, however this mb2 doesent seem to, fuel level was low this morning, literally below the bottom line yet there was no light Would that also cause it to run lumpy for a few seconds? Was fine when I pulled away I have put fuel in now and don't normally run it that low, I just wanted to see if there was a low warning light

    Batteries

Never thought of it like that
  15. I've been cleaning them in the kitchen today as hopefully will be fitting them next week I was really chuffed at how well they came up as my misses had the genius idea of using bicarbonate soda and it removed the brake dust and yellow staining with ease I've been looking at your bio and think your wheels look the business, I was looking for either 16" aswell as its a bit easier on the pocket come tyre time
  16. Cheers mate, that's not too bad 40 odd quid My brother in law is doing them for me Tuesday:)
  17. Yep the ends, theyres a lot of play in both sides, I was quite shocked tbh If I fitted the 17"s with those like that the knocking would be 10x worse How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking? Going to give unipart and Andrew pages a bell in the morning for prices
  18. Hi all Both my track rod ends are shot on my mb2, I've been looking on eBay at tie rod ends (assuming there the same thing) and I'm seeing mentioned that they are also for a Rover 400/45 is that correct? Would help narrow my search as on a bit of a budget at the moment Cheers in advance

    Batteries

It was only for a few seconds while I changed the batteries over?
  21. Fitted a new 2nd battery today as the old one gave up the ghost Also decided to get to the bottom of the nasty knock I have on the front suspension as its holding up fitting the 17" alloys Turns out both track rod ends are shot, and a cv boot, those are going to be fun next week Means il have to get the tracking done too. Happy days

    Batteries

Thanks chaps, battery was only a tenner as had to go to a different breakers, like I mentioned I had to swivel the neg earth bolt around to get a bit extra length to reach the connectors I've noticed it's idling a little lower now since having the battery disconnected which is a little weird :/

    Batteries

Managed to get a battery this morning, terminals were on the other side so had to stretch the connections over a little She fired back into life
  24. Sorry to hear mate, scumbags Clearly it was stolen for the engine as they obviously know its value, I would certainly be keeping an eye on all the local classifieds, or even breakers its it's bound to turn up at some point, although likely it's on it's way abroad as parts have a lot more value in certain European countries I hate when things like this happen
  25. I'l nip out and take some, might liven the thread up a pic of 2 bolts
