Thanks chaps, she got the rest if it done this afternoon as will start fitting tomorrow The cigarette lighter surround was an absolute pain she said, she tried to get the wrap all the way down but ended up giving in and trimming around the outside
-
Of course yes, I always thought that helped:)
-
Yep paranoia is my worst enemy Did a 60 mile run this afternoon and everything was fine, temp never deviated Checked coolant after it had cooled a little and was just over max in the expansion tank and at the top of the rad just below the filler neck

Maz's Silver MB2 Project... SOLD SOLD SOLD!!! :(

Looking good mate Bargain buy that vti spoiler, did you buy it for the lip? As i thought your M already had one -
Nightmare mate, sorry to hear that, as said above I wouldn't right her off yet So what happened did you forget to put the oil cap back on? I did this myself in my Astra but caught it in time as a strong smell of hot oil came through the vents
-
Been a few days with the new thermostat in and so far so good, a few spells of being stuck in traffic and needle stayed bang on just over 1/3 up the gauge I am getting a whiff of hot coolant occasionally so wondering if I have a small external leak somewhere, which in turn is causing the occasional airlock which makes the temp spike, although coolant is staying full in the rad and expansion bottle holding steady at just under max Fingers crossed this is the end of it, sick of spending more time looking at the gauge than the road Going for a long run at lunchtime so will be taking some water incase
-
Stereo has to come out tomorrow to fit a stereo commander so will fit it and take some pics:) Still a little on the fence with it tbh:/
-
Yeah that's my fear, when it all in its going to be too much That was the 2nd attempt with the dial panel, she learned by her first attempt to really heat the wrap up almost to the point of it melting then it just bends round without tearing Her motivation is that she hates the 'grandad wood' lol
-
Right the Missus has been wrapping some trim for me, now I wasint sure on the red to begin with but I must say when done it looks rather dapper Looking for some opinions on wether to go for it and fit it in the car, being red I think its a bit different from the usual black, the wife has proper got the hang of it now, its great to watch, kind of turns me on in a kind of weird petrol headed way
-
What an absolute bargain, even better if they're is service history Wish I had the money
-
Cheers mate, I certainly hope so Had no heaters for ages yesterday, spent the best part of an hour squeezing hoses and swearing at it Why they don't have a bleed screw anymore I read that earlier accords an civics had a bleed bolt on the stat housing
-
My favourite shape accord, always loved these Nice that you opted for a petrol, I saw a lot of faults reported with the dervs when I was a member on the accord owners club
-
Certainly hope so mate, losing sleep over it to be honest Been ok today, although all I did was check coolant levels (which had not changed and rad was still full) and pop to the shop Atm couldn't afford that kind of repair
-
Yep that's the plan Would have had some more done today if I didn't get sidetracked by another overheating episode
-
Doesent that come from the factory like that? And is called the black? Or a rep possibly
-
I had the front of the car elevated and the heaters on hot with no fans on Yes so far so good, only time will tell though as it was one of those annoying intermittent faults I foolishly unplugged the temp sender which has put the eml on, doh :/ My biggest fear is head gasket failure, although surely if it was that it would overheat all of the time, this is the 2nd time in just over a month

Well she had another hormonal fit this afternoon Drove continuously for about an hour with no problems, then turn into my estate to come home and I literally watched the temp gauge start to climb, knocked the engine off when it went past 3/4, popped the bonnet no fans going, expansion bottle is full to the top with traces of coolant on around it and on the plastic scuttle underneath the radiator I'd already bought a new thermostat so thought might as well change it now I've just changed the stat, old one tested and was opening, slower than the new one though It was an absolute pain to bleed the system but got there in the end Ran the engine on the drive for over an hour fans kicking in now nicely My concern is the coolant is quite frothy at the rad cap and there seems to be constant bubbles, yet temp is now stable at under 1/2 Is that normal? On a plus though my heaters are now blisteringly hot, I literally can't keep my hand held over the vents
-
I think Matt/satin black is cool in moderation, like for spoilers and painting bits of trim However I think it looks cheap and can devalue an everyday car Unless it's a sleeper and it's got a total animal under the bonnet then it's allowed
-
No worries I've been meaning to clean mine, just haven't had the time It was Eric the car guy (YouTube car guru) who showed the tapping the iacv trick, if your idle is high, low or hunting its a quick way of finding out if it's sticking
-
Mine, at the moment on cold it's between 1500-1700 rpms, and when up to temp 750 to 800 depending what mood she's in I have had some bother with my iacv however since hitting it with the back of a screwdriver has been fine If you blip the throttle on cold it will bring the idle down if it's high
-
Thanks mate, yes quite chuffed with it
