  1. I'm quite a way from you I'm afraid, otherwise I would have gladly gave you a hand I always find (many might disagree) but its much much easier if you remove the windows Theyres loads of how to vids and tips on YouTube Put Sellotape on the corner to separate the tint film from the backing paper, make sure the windows are clean and any pets are kept out of the way, as stray pet hairs can easily get between the film and the glass and ruin it (as what happened on my very first go at it) Loads of soapy water in a spray bottle and an old credit card/nectar card to get the bubbles out Then trim round with a craft knife Back window much the same, just size up a piece if film , it's. bit trickier being on the car and upside down but easily doable
  2. Thanks chaps, yes that filter does look nice, quite chuffed with it I will give the carbon wrapping a go, always wanted to give it a try, I can tint windows quite well so might be ok at it Must get round to doing the fly eyes aswell

    Batteries

Funnily enough I think that's what the battery in the scrapyard is, it's Bosch and blue and I remember it saying s summit They want 15 quid for one, I need one asap as its dead on the drive and its on a gradient so near impossible to push off

    Batteries

For the past few days my mb2 has been slow turning over when starting in the mornings Today it barely turned over and now just clicks Obviously battery has had it, it looks ancient and may even be the original My question is I can't afford a new battery at the moment, the scrapyard over the field has a good battery that is almost the same size, identical in depth and width and half an inch shorter in length Will this battery be ok? Cheers in advance
  5. They look genuine yes, they're a little faded in places, but are a perfect fit and the drivers fits over the hook to stop it moving about
  6. Never tried carbon wrapping, I might try it on the trim that came out, got nothing to lose
  7. Also forgot to mention, I found a brand new unused hazard switch when I pulled out the centre console, Possibly dropped there by a worker at the factory??
  8. I did think about that yes, but I kinda glued them to the mounting plate and they don't come apart anyway and they're more than an inch big I will do a quick wire up on one side and see how the Rover one compares to the Vibe at the other side
  9. Well today has been mostly cleaning and hoovering as I hate sitting in someone elses muck I did change my pollen filter as the old one was a disgrace, and fitted the few additional bits of fake wood I had in the shed, removing the console was the usual pain, and had to make a quick trip to Unipart for replacement bulbs for the ashtray light and clock, as soon as I went near them they blew Also fitted my gearknob correctly with the bottom bezel from a cheapo ebay one Pics Can't decide if the gearknob sits a little high now as I used the plastic tube that came with the cheapo one to get a snug fit 2 years in a damp shed hasint agreed with the ciggy lighter surround, as it certainly wasint like that when it came out of the MB4, anyone got one I could buy??? My eye keeps getting drawn to it as im quite fussy I cant decide wether to ditch the vibe tweeters and fit the Rover panels and wire up them ones instead for the oem look? Unsure what the sound quality will be like on the Rover jobbies compared to the Vibes And a couple of randoms The worst stereo in the world
  10. Looking good mate, really like the silver and black theme I want your spoiler lol, having no luck finding one for mine, got my heart set on a mg zs highline one
  11. He's got more money than sense, he bought that one then another one and fitted that instead, then spent £250 on a full powerflow exhaust for his 3 potter 1.2 Corsa lol Got loads of respect for him, he hasint been long back from Afgan, and he's over in Canada now
  12. Thanks Tom Still a bit confused about leather being in to be honest, as isint the S the base model?
  13. It already had the holes there with different size rubber bungs It was bought for a Corsa D believe it or not:)
  14. Today has been quite a productive day, firstly nipped over the scrapyard for a few bits and pieces, rubber coin mat, tweeter pod panels and door pull handle from a dead Rover 45, all for a fiver Then a mate turned up with this in the boot, said I could have it for nowt as it was taking up space in the shed Not bad considering it was £80 a few months ago and never been out of the box, Personally I would'nt go out of my way to fit one of these to a 1.4, but for a bit more noise why not Swiftly fitted, might modify a piece of pipework left over to bring the filter a few more inches over, as far away from the engine as possible. Does sound nice mind:) Then set to butchering, sorry cutting holes in the parcel shelf for my budget 6x9's Grilles were looking a bit rusty and untidy so gave them a dusting of satin black to freshen them up before And after Got those fitted in and wired up, did sound quite scratchy to begin with (as I feared) however letting the music play at a decent not earsplitting volume the sound has improved loads, and for 6x9's don't sound bad at all Also fitted aero wipers which I forgot to photograph That's it for today
  15. Thanks mate, I will have a look about for some, for cheapness it's certainly worth a try getting a bit more bottom end out of them Today's jobs are fitting some chavtastic 6x9s in the parcel shelf, they were only a fiver and they are pioneers, just hope they are not shot as mentioned earlier they make a scratchy noise when you push the cone by hand :/ Was also digging in the shed and found all the wooden trim I took out of my ES mb4, as you all know lower spec m's don't have the wooden heater surround, ashtray or gearknob surround so might as well stick em in, my ciggy lighter doesent work nor the ashtray light up so its a good excuse I think the black leather compliments the wood trim I did ponder pulling the fake wood out and going down the mg zs trim route again, but I remember at the time preferring the wood, don't know why, must be because I'm getting to 40 lol
  16. The tweeters are connected to the vibe components, it's like a 2 way wire, I just fed it up the door for them The sound is not much cop from them to be honest, I got them given off a mate and I think he thrashed them to death when they were in his bora You could take a feed from the door speaker, that's what I would try, just tap into the wires I've done that before on a Mondeo and it worked
  17. Thanks chaps That rust is just the beginnings of surface rust Will keep an eye on it, of its gets worse on sure it's repairable or I will just replace the door I will look into insulation on the doors as the bass is still pretty weak I've just picked up a pair of 6x9s from eBay, only paid a fiver for them, however are they supposed to make a graunchy noise when you push the cone up and down? Emzvr - where did you get the floor isolation? Had a quick look on eBay but no joy
  18. Thought I would start a bio as ive got a few plans to make this motor a nice one, and a keeper Bought the car last week, an MB2 from a family that had the car from new, genuine 2 keeper (same family), car was up for £495, managed to get her for £400 1.4 S, 115k (service history stamped up to 94k by Springfield Honda) Factory fitted black leather (requested when ordered by 1st keeper for £200 extra apparently) Runs well, apart from a squeaky tweetin drive belt, and the usual arb droplink knock Pics from the ad And the mountain of service history including the unopened red key Had the car literally an hour before I jumped on Gumtree and bought these for £120 with good tyres as the bottle top 14" alloys just wouldn't do Then dug this little package out of the cupboard that I bought a while ago and was keeping for a rainy day, should be enough to do front and back lights Popped over the scrapyard the following day and nabbed some Rover 45 smoked side repeaters and grabbed the armrest console while I was there fitted, notice the usual colour discrepancy Needless to say the 2 screws were an absolute pig to get out, ended up braying a socket onto them to get them out and faffing with a set of molegrips for an hour and getting nowhere, why oh why they didn't use bolts there like Rover Then I set about upgrading the front door speakers, as we all know the standard stuff is complete muffled pants after some advice from another member, I learned the Vauxhall Astra adapter plates fit the MB with a little modification (1 new screw hole to be drilled so had these luckily unopened in the cupboard, 6.5 inch adapter plates with 5.25 adapters, lucky as the speakers I had were 5.25 Vibe components and tweeters For reference anyone planning to do this, these are the ones you need new hole drilled into door panel And mounted Then onto tweeter, attached them to the small sail panels and fed the wires up And pretty much done, door card fitted back on fine with no fouling sound is much better, not fantastic but will do, I don't really rate Vibe speakers, there a better ones out there for not much money, just had them already doing nowt in the cupboard Then fitted my free scrapyard find Momo gearknob, shame the screw bezel at the bottom is missing, ordered a cheap one from ebay so hopefully the one from that will fit And a few randoms from today Only bit of rust on the whole car, back passengerside door Loads of ideas so will update as things happen
  19. I will be starting one yes, I've already done a few things taking photos as I go I've only had the car 1 day, I don't hang about
  20. It was, will miss the heated leather when winter comes it had all the toys, the bose system was nice, I bought xcarlink for it which I left in, the Mrs hasint let me forget that as it was nearly 100 quid
  21. Will be starting a bio so will post pics there:)
  22. Cheers, They should come out with ease again if needs be I never thought to adjust the handbrake, as they're is loads of travel on the lever, doh!
  23. Sorted now, brayed a socket on the screw head, long extension and they both came out with ease slowly and gently with the ratchet Worked a treat, refitted the console using the Rover 10mm bolts with loads of grease on the threads
  24. Went to the scrappy today and nabbed a armrest console from a Rover 45, came out super easy as we all know Rover at least had the sense to use 10mm bolts Honda on the other hand use screws, anyway I set to trying to remove them, both started to turn then they went tight and I've ended up rounding them both off and they won't budge At this stage I decided to break off the old console as it was going in the bin anyway, and tried to get them out with molegrips however mine are useless and just keep slipping off So, do I buy or borrow a better set of molegrips and try again, or do I just drill them out? If so what would be the best drill bit to use? Thanks in advance:)
  25. Great work mate, you've gave me loads of ideas for my mb2
