  1. Hang on! The stripes are only on one side! What?! Why? Kill it!
  2. Is there a separate animated gif thread or does everything like that go in your and Krzys spam thread?
  3. Oh, didn't realise I needed 200 posts as well to join up and just thought that was for classifieds I'll get there eventually
  4. Thanks dude but I personally don't think someone's poor maintenance looks poorly on the club. I understand it's a 14 year old car and a relatively cheap car so some people will always skimp a bit on relatively expensive repairs. So far I haven't really discovered any lies that the seller has spun me....well apart from the advert describing it as 'immaculate' lol. It's my responsibility to ask the right questions and visually recognise potential issues with the car when viewing it, so I can't really be annoyed at him. The site has treated me very well since I've joined. After I was directed to 1000rpm on here and him shipping stuff out to me quickly I'd decided I'll be showing my gratitude to the site soon by paying up for a year's membership. Of course that'll be in a few weeks time once I get all this spannering work done and paid for. My bank account needs a bit of a rest lol
  5. Yeah I'm hanging on to this one for the next year or two now whether I like it or not lol I've still a few things that I want to get done over the next few months such as underseal it and have a good hoke and prod at the suspension bushes, but it means any performance mods keep getting pushed back. It came with a stamped service book up until early this year and the past half dozen or so MOT certs and tax discs, but no receipts (which is something I always keep). The guy who had it said that the ABS lights have been on since he bought the car two years ago! I'd have thought this would would have been an MOT failure; it certainly would be here in Northern Ireland where our MOT centres are government ran and can be quite strict. It did make me wonder if he had a 'friendly' MOT tester and just maintained usual service items such as plugs, filters and oil. LSA9K mentioned on here earlier that he thought he recognised the car from a previous member. I've been trying to find it a few times but can't find a thread on it.
  6. I forgot to add that when I got the car it came with one remote, which didn't work and looked terrible. This quickly annoyed my OCD. After finding out that I can't just recode a second remote and not being @rsed sourcing a replacement receiver and pair of remotes I thought I'd just make do with what I had. Turns out my remote only needed a new battery and I bought a cheapo remote off ebay and took the rubber buttons off it and it now looks like this
  7. So I left the car in with a local Jap specialist at the start of the month to give the car a once over, sort out the dash lights, replace the thermostat and an oil leak, thinking it would only be there a day or two and all would be good with the world. Erm.....nope. The car is still there The SRS light was reset and hopefully stays off. The ABS light was on as both passenger side ABS sensors were dead. Two used replacements sourced from 10000rpm, fitted and now working Power steering fluid bought as I'd noticed the reservoir was looking a little low. The existing sump turned out to be rotten and a replacement needed to be found. £200 from Honda and £50 for a sump gasket!! Feck off! lol So I sourced a used sump, albeit at almost £100 delivered and an eBay sump gasket. To be fair the replacement sump is in excellent condition Thermostat bought and now fitted. I knew the brakes could do with getting sorted and this was on my radar to do over the next 12 months, but after reading so many people getting ABS sensor problems replacing brakes on their own cars I decided to get the discs and pads done now. That brought me up to last Friday evening when I got a call from the mechanic saying that everything was fitted He then said he took it out for a test drive and when he brought it back he discovered another leak; this time from the engine but he couldn't figure out exactly where from. To be safe he suggested replacing: - The crankshaft oil seal - Camshaft oil seal - Rocker cover gasket - Timing belt I'd asked about the timing belt when I bought the car and the previous owner said he couldn't say if it was ever replaced, so like the brakes this was another thing I was going to get round to eventually, although it was always going to be sooner rather than later. I just didn't think it would be now lolol  It took a bit of faffing around to find the replacement oil seals but these are now on order along with the rest of the list, and a new water pump seeing as the belt is being done. That brings me to now where I've not been able to drive the car in almost 3 weeks and I've just under £500 of invoices racked up, before labour. I've had the time to properly learn my lesson that buying a car with low miles really doesn't mean a thing when the car hasn't been properly maintained lol Also even though I've owned other Hondas I can't believe how expensive parts are for this car compared to VAG stuff. I'd understand if the engine parts were all built in Japan, but not if built here in the UK. A new sump for my S3 for example is £32 lol
  8. No need to reply folks. Got sorted from that eBay seller for everything that I needed. Prices might be a tad steep but they were very quick and helpful with sorting me out, so hopefully worth it
  9. So this MB6 that I bought needs alot more than I thought I need to replace the camshaft and crankshaft (timing belt end) oil seals as I've another leak somewhere but really struggling to find anywhere locally that can get me these. All my local motor factors say they simply can't get them, and nothing showing on Eurocarparts. Can anyone recommend any online sites that might supply these? I've found this listing on eBay and just sent a message to see if this is a front or rear crankshaft seal, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360669781780 but I can't find a camshaft seal listed on eBay at all. I've also tried a local engine builders who can supply seals if I can tell them what dimensions the existing ones are (inner and outer diameter). I'd prefer to have the new parts to replace rather than pull the engine apart and then wait a few days for replacements so that'll be a last resort option lol Anyone changed these parts on their car and know what size they were? I also need rocker cover gasket and timing belt, but these are alot easier to get ordered. Thanks
  10. lol I need one of those too!
  11. The seller won't back down and is insisting it will fit so we'll soon see lol There is an option for a refund if it doesn't but that's a fight for another day. I'll update this anyways once it's arrived. Thanks folks
  12. uhoh So this one won't fit? I can get this cancelled sharpish if someone can confirm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370931182732?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  13. Near made a mess in my pants when I rang Honda to discover a new sump is £198 and gasket an additional £50 VAG sumps are soooooo much cheaper but I guess that's due to all the Sc3ne folks wrecking theirs so plenty of demand lol. Anyways I've just bought a used B18C sump so don't fret about answering the above unless anyone wants to for future reference
  14. I've discovered the sump on my VTI-S is rotten. Boooooo I'm about to start looking for a new sump, but the guy who is doing the work for me said that there are steel ones and alloy ones, and maybe the DC2 sumps are alloy. Will any B18/B16 sump fit? Does anyone know if the DC2 ones are alloy, and would they fit ok? I'm thinking purely for longevity, even though I doubt I'll own the car longer than a year or two so shouldn't have any more bother with it lol
  15. I got the car up on a friends ramp and discovered it's coming from the sump. Hopefully just needs a new sump gasket, but leaving it in with someone this weekend to get it done. What I hadn't realised when I first posted this thread was that the heating is up the left as well. The temperature guage takes forever to warm up and then doesn't stay constant, so hopefully just a simple thermostat change needing done too. Getting it up on the ramp was certainly worthwhile though as I've noticed the fuel and brake lines are quite badly corroded and the discs are due a replacement too. The lines could probably just get a clean to get through the MOT in February but some parts of it do look bad and I'd rather just replace them and know that's them done for another good while So there's gonna be a few quid thrown at the car in the next week or two, but hopefully that'll be the last bit of maintenance for a bit and I can concentrate more on mods.
  16. Congrats on the new garage. They really come in to their own this time of year as well. Tool bench looks awesome as well I built mine four years ago and don't regret it. Nice and dry to work around the cars, lots of light, and can play my music in peace. Also nice to know I'll hopefully get my money back when I sell the house in a few years....well as long as no more economy f*ck ups lol
  17. lol the exhaust def doesn't go with my usual stealthy outlook. It attracts a stupid amount of tits looking a race. Thanks Krzys. Good to know its more of a common thing and hopefully a quick, cheap and easy fix
  18. Thanks folks Well I brought it down to a mate last night who has a lift so I can have a look underneath. First thing though we checked the ignition timing and it was waaaaay off, so after a quick bit of tinkering we're back on track and there is a biiiig difference in how it's going now. Once it got up on the lift though we discovered a few issues that I'll need to get sorted. I knew it was dripping something from the engine but now discovered that it's oil and seems to be seeping out of the sump. Fingers crossed a sump gasket will sort it out but its pretty messy underneath and oil has been flung backwards and forwards all over the bottom of the engine bay It's going to need new brake discs and pads all round. Fuel and brake lines look pretty rusty. Hoping a clean will sort them out, but I'm tempted to replace them all to make sure its properly sorted. I've no idea how it got through its last MOT to be honest as I'd be pretty confident it would fail here. The thermostat is also staying open and will need replaced. I haven't even got round to sorting out the ABS and SRS lights lol To be fair I know it's a cheap little 14 year old Civic but I'm happy to spend a few quid getting things done right on it. I don't have the time to sort everything myself so I think this time I'm just gonna leave it in somewhere. I do like the car even though all my VAG-driving mates are quoting F&F lines all the frigging time I'm now called Pizza Boy ffs, but to be honest I haven't even turned a wheel in the S3 since I brought this home lol
  19. Thanks It's not as fresh as I'd like but I'll get back to the paint when I've a bit more time. I'd love the tow bar off, but need to find a replacement rear lip first as there's a hole in this one for the tow bar.
  20. Sunday was the first day I had a few hours free, so went out and gave it a good wash. I cleaned out all the usual door, boot and bonnet shuts that folks neglect over the years, Iron-X'd it and clayed it. I also quickly ran the DA over it but didn't have enough time to do it right. I wouldn't mind getting the stone chips and a few scrapes properly sorted at some point. I didn't really have time to stop and take lots of pics so just have a before and after, and even then it was almost dark, so pics are a bit wick.
  21. I've owned this a few weeks now but been too busy with work to get a proper look at the car. Hopefully I'll get more done over the next few weeks. All I've been able to do lately was change the bulb behind the clock for one which now works. Pain in the backside but worth it. The previous owner removed whatever head unit he'd had in the car so I went looking a nice replacement and bought this wee Pioneer. Sounds fantastic for the money. Also has Bluetooth for calls and streaming music from my phone. I need to change the lighting to more closely match the amber interior lighting, but can't figure out how to do it. I'll have to get the manual out ffs
  22. I'm heading to a friends over the weekend to check the timing on my VTI-S and I'm just wondering how many degrees I need to be ideally at? Also, I believe there are Integra Type R cams added by the previous owner, but haven't yet confirmed this. If this is the case, will this affect the timing figure that I should ideally be seeing? The distributor had been marked with a pen and looks to have been adjusted as the markings are not currently lining up (only millimetres out) so I'm not sure if this has intentionally been moved or not since the cams were replaced. Possibly stupid questions, but first time looking in to this ignition timing malarky
  23. Oil level is fine, although I've noticed a few drips in the drive and need to try and find out where that is coming from Unfortunately I can't do much on the car over the next couple of weeks as too busy with work, but I'll get there and looking forward to having the time to start getting it sorted I'd guessed it might have a more smoother changeover than the S as it was intended as a different type of car for a different market, but I also figured the changeover would at least still be noticeable. I'm going to book it on to a local rolling road in a few weeks at a local Jap specialist and get a health check while it's there simply for a bit of piece of mind. Thanks folks
  24. Thanks I've checked the air filter and it looks like a new standard panel filter must have been fitted recently. I'll have a nosey as to how to carry out an ecu reset as this is all new to me lol The more I think about it though, the more I feel it's not running how it should. Half the fun of running a project I guess
  25. Apologies in advance as no doubt this has been asked before now on here. I did try a search but can't find anything. I've owned my MB6 VTI-S a week now and today was the first day I was able to get out and have a proper run in it. I def feel like there is something holding it back but I'm not sure what. When I had my old S2000 there was a definate noticable change in sound and feel when I went into VTEC throughout each gear. In the VTI-S I don't hear or feel anything. It's just a continuous rev through the range. Are they designed to have a smooth changeover on these engines or should there definately be something noticable either by feel or by sound? I've waited until the car is up to temperature and it revs freely up to about 8,500rpm. The previous owner had said that he had changed the cams to Integra ones. Does the timing need adjusted or anything like that with this change? I've noticed that there had been a red mark on the top of the distributor that someone has marked but which wasn't exactly lining up. It was just a cm out at most. I aligned it back hoping that's all it needed, but no real change. I'm thinking of booking it in to a local Jap specialist to put it on the rolling road and find out what it's putting out, but it def feels 20-30bhp down on what I was expecting but hoping in the meantime someone might have an idea, or point me in the direction of where I could find timing figures that I can compare against. The only other mod is an exhaust. Thanks
