No changes made. Our MOT testing is different to you guys. Rather than take it to a designated garage there are about 17 test centres in Northern Ireland all ran and staffed by DVA employees. When it comes to MOT time we pay for our time slots, drive up to the centre, drive in one side of the building then the car is pretty much taken along a step by step testing process before literally coming out the other side of the building with either a pass certificate or a fail sheet. It usually takes around half an hour and then we're away. The pic above is at one of the test centres in my dads Austin Minor. That centre has two lanes for cars and one for PSV'ing larger vehicles. It's usually pretty stringent, and mostly all computerised but sometimes they let the odd little thing slide. I guess it just depends on the testers mood at the time

Skymera is right. After a bit of a drive in to the countryside using dipped headlights I now think the throw from my headlights are worse than before. Full beam in the other hand is like daylight in comparison to the old ones. On the beam test tonight the MOT tester asked me to move the light adjustment on the dash up to '0' but they were already at '0' lol. He said they just scraped a pass and need adjusted. Before I buy another set of bulbs I'm going to try and figure out how to raise the throw. A good going over with a polishing machine over the lights might help too.

The man from Del M.O.T. He says yes!! I went tonight to my local MOT centre to put the Civic through its first test in Northern Ireland. The guy had a real poker face on so I wasn't expecting a good result. Thankfully he handed me a certificate and MOT disc, so it's legal now for another 12 months Although I recently changed the bulbs on the car, the dipped beam was still not brilliant. I just scraped through the headlight test so I need to get that sorted. How easy is it to raise the headlights? Best to just get the garage to do it? I was also told to clean the brake lines which I expected anyway so I'm going to consider replacing them with new ones in the forthcoming months. So tonight I'm sitting here with a cuppa feeling prettttty smug )

26-27mpg is low! Have you looked in to what other A4 estate owners are getting or might there be something wrong with how it's running? My 1.8T S3 is running around 250bhp and I'm averaging 29mpg and that's with alot of short journeys and speeeeeeeeeed. Is it just weight thing with it being a big heavy comfy estate? Oh and I'm currently getting 270 miles from a full tank in the Civic

I had a day off work today and decided to do a few things that I'd not had the time to do lately. Before I got started though I had to take the old mans pickup to get MOT'd. Thankfully it passed although I was worried when it had four testers looking at it at one point :/ Firstly the cloth was starting to come off one of the rear doors. Using some glue and a spatula I glued it back in place and it looks brand new again. One of the rear doors was also very sticky for some reason. I plastered the hinges in grease and it now flaps around like a hookers f@nny in the wind. The boot carpet was covered in dirt and oil so I wet vac'd it with my George and just waiting for it to dry now. Id ordered aero wipers but didn't want to fit them until I'd repainted the wiper arms so got to work on those today. No pics in the car though as it was dark by the time I put a few coats on. Before After The headlights on the car were rubbish. I could see frig all with dipped lights so ordered a pair of Osram Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs. The difference is fantastic especially on high beam. Top pic - old bulbs Bottom pic - new bulbs I've still to get the back wiper arm off to paint it but not 100% on how to do it. I'm guessing the boot trim needs taken off?

There's a good chance it's the spacers causing the vibration. Try replacing them with better hubcentric ones

Nice looking motor. The interior in these still look nice and fresh imo. Xenons are a nice touch too and perfect engine mods for it Plastidip those roof bars while you're at it What turbo is on these a K03S? -
Thanks dude It's already got a 2.5" system and decatted from a previous owner so I'd just need it all to line up and fit. Hopefully wouldn't be too much hassle. It's just fancy plumbing lol Famous last words though going by the botched work done on it before I got it

Are you saying the Titanic sank because it also had a leaky windscreen? I must have missed that bit in the film where the condensation blocked their view of the iceberg

Awesome! I actually wondered about this!

If anyone is looking a wash mitt, this seller is selling 5 for £10 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-Professional-Detailing-Valeters-Car-Wash-Mitt-Trade-Quality-Synthetic-Wool-/370931081149?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item565d371fbd They're synthetic wool but they look very similar to the Meguiars wash mitt and at £10 for 5 I'll still hopefully get some longevity out of them lol I've bought from this seller in the past and pretty decent service and prices too. -
I found the guy's page on eBay. That does look tasty and really smartly made. Looks very close to the actual 98 spec in the pic and £149 now as well I wonder what the gains are like compared to the actual DC2 manifold? I'm terrible for wanting to stick with OEM parts though especially with engine bits. Watching it now and gonna have a wee think................

Welcome to the 1.8T fold Lovely comfy bus for munching miles. This time next year it'll be on the deck with a roof rack and a massive set of Rotas -
It's been a quiet enough few weeks. I've just been enjoying driving it over Christmas. It's filthy now though and I need to find some time to give it a bath. This week though I've ordered: - aero wiper blades front and rear - Osram Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs - New number plates without dealer names or plate issuing postcodes etc What sort of money should I expect to pay for a DC2 JDM manifold and also a DC2 airbox and intake pipe? If anyone knows of one knocking about let me know There's a JDM manifold on eBay for £275 but that seems quite steep, and as it's been on there a good while I'm guessing everyone else thinks the same lol

What length wiper blades?
feck_on_a_stick replied to feck_on_a_stick's topic in Body/Electrics/Interior
Pretty much 20" and 18" then. 17" rear. Awesome. Thanks -
I'll start off by apologising for this thread now lol I meant to measure my wiper blades last night as I want to order a full set of aero style blades today, but I got distracted and forgot I've found a set of front aero blades on eBay for MB cars with an 18 and a 20" blade. Would this sound about right? What length rear wiper would I need?

How long have you had your Wookiefist for? Would you recommend it? I'm in dire need of a new wash mitt but can't fine one that lasts for any length of time. After a few months my wool mitts usually disintegrate from cleaning in the washing machine, or the inside lining drys up and falls apart. My old Meguiars one has lasted for years and still going strong but now relegated to washing the girlfriends car rather than mine lol Anyone else recommend a good well-made wash mitt? -

Congratulations on car of the year. It was up against some really nice cars -
It's lovely on VTEC but yeah general moping about and motorway cruising just ain't for old farts like me. It just also doesn't tie in for the plans I have for the car I'm thinking Integra backbox or one of the twinloops if a bargain pops up.
-
- Integra airbox - Integra JDM 4-1 manifold - Get rid of more swirls and scrapes - Wash vac the interior - Remove tow bar - Refresh the paint-peeling wipers - Replace the 5Zigen backbox with something quieter - Find a set of 16" fan blades
-
Stop messing about and get these jobs finished already Just kidding Glad you got the thermostat done. Def makes a world of a difference to the car and a bit more satisfaction for you that you're getting somewhere with it

whp is what it's all about and 167bhp at the wheels must make it a pretty sharp thing! That's 30whp more than mine is putting out at the minute. I'd be pretty happy with that sort of power lol
