WilkesyMB6
Will the steering rack from a DC2 fit on an MB6 as a straight swap? What required etc?Got to sort a perminent fix out for mine, as its driving me mad!
KiNK43
Yeah, id like to know too. Bit of play in my rack, and I guess dc2 racks a bit quicker.
WilkesyMB6
I think there is just more avaliable. I want a new one rather than a 2nd hand one thats done millions of miles!
bepilot
i have a bit of play too, but will change inner and outer tie rods first to see if that helps... rubber around the balljoints is creaking, so I guess it's time to replace them anyways... KiNK43
Dnt think its anything to worry about. Passed mot. Drives fine. Just rocks a lil when car still. Still interested in dc2 rack though as will get round to replacing soon.
WilkesyMB6
My steering feels fine, like it always has. It just every so often now if the car is stationary and on level ground and you turn the wheel it makes a slight squeaking noise. It has been a lot better since my mate put some special rubber grease on it, but sometime you can still hear it. As apposed to all the time before lol
dr_broon
so was it the steering making the squeak? Mine's stopped since the weather got cold and damp.

Mine's stopped since the weather got cold and damp.Yeah, i thought it was the steering but he seemed to think it could have been top mounts. When he had a look he realised it was a different setup to what he thought. So he tighten everything up as apparently a few bits were loose, then applied the grease to the bits that needed it. WilkesyMB6
I have found this and not sure if its worth a try, as it probably wont be a lot.http://www.lucasoil.com/articlelist1-19 ... gTreatment
steveolkinevel
im in the process of trying to track down any rack that will fit as i have lots of free play, from center, about an inch each way if your going up a steep hill with bumps on you can hear it knocking even though the steering wheel is straight!!!
