Hi everyone, thought I'd start up my build thread. You'll have to bare with me, I've copied and pasted it all over from civiclife.net so the first post will be huge! Been meaning to do it for a while, just haven't got round to it :) Hope you all enjoy, some big updates coming soon.

Alright everyone,

Always wanted a build thread but by the time I thought to make on I had already done a fair bit without any before pictures. But after today I thought I may as well start one.

The car:

This is my first car, and being 17 and already being raped by insurance there aren't going to be any modifications really. I refuse to do any heavy mods without declaring them, and declaring them means £££ so I'd rather sit it out until I have a few years NCB under my belt.

After my Dad bought an ATR I decided I wanted an MB Civic, which had to be a 1.5 Sport in nighthawk black, and after waiting over a year I picked up Dimitri (my Mum named it :/) in October 2010. It is exactly what I wanted and came up a few miles from my house.

Mods so far:

- Painted grille and badge

- Painted rear numberplate recess

- Painted and de-tangoed headlights

- Debadged bootlid

- Rear spoiler removed

- Centre silencer removed from the exhaust

- HKS panel filter

- Painted calipers

- Accord Type R gearknob

- MG ZS180 rear anti roll bar

- Plasma dials and heater control fascia

- Civic Jordan alloys (off the car ATM)

- Air intake re-sonator removed

- De-cat

Haven't got many pictures of it really but I hollowed out an OEM manifold/cat today so thought I'd start:

The 'maniverter'

After much frustration and self inflicted injuries I was left with this:

100_1247.jpg

100_1248.jpg

100_1250.jpg

I was getting no where with a hammer and screwdriver :/

100_1251.jpg

So out came the big boys

100_1252.jpg

A few hours later and some damaged knuckles I was left with this

100_1254.jpg

100_1256.jpg

100_1257.jpg

Next was a much deserved coffee

100_1259.jpg

Then on to fitting

100_1261.jpg

To sum it up it has certainly made a difference, the design of the mani is complete s**t, so I think I may have free'd it up a little. Plenty of pops and back throttle noises now :)

Here's a few pictures of what it looks like now, well sort of, these are a little old

Thanks for having a look, C&C welcomed :) Lots of plans, so now I've started a build up I'll be photgraphing anything I do and update here :)

Thanks again.

Alright everyone,

Big update now, over the last week I've been building up stuff for the car, nothing flash but all seriously needed parts.

The stuff:

    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Exedy OE clutch kit
[*:2zl6nnby]Headgasket kit (full kit, including valve stem oil seals, camshaft gaskets, manifold gaskets and what not)
[*:2zl6nnby]New QH waterpump (f**k paying £100 for an OEM one, this has a 2 year warranty anyway)
[*:2zl6nnby]New cylinder head exhaust studs and nuts, mine are knackered
[*:2zl6nnby]Gates PowerGrip timing belt and genuine Koyo belt tensioner
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda fuel filter
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda oil filter
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda type 2 coolant (5L)
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda MTF-3 gearbox oil (2L)
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda driveshaft oil seals
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda gear selector seal
    [*:2zl6nnby]Genuine Honda gear selector boot
    [*:2zl6nnby]Bosch FR 78 X spark plugs
[*:2zl6nnby]Castrol GTX semi synthetic engine oil (4L)

Also got some other bits to do the work with:

    [*:2zl6nnby]Draper clutch alignment tool
    [*:2zl6nnby]Brake and clutch cleaner
    [*:2zl6nnby]Timing gun
    [*:2zl6nnby]New feeler gauge
[*:2zl6nnby]Torque wrench, goes low enough for my rocker cover and high enough for what I need
    [*:2zl6nnby]Various sanding equipment
    [*:2zl6nnby]VHT silver paint
    [*:2zl6nnby]VHT red wrinkle paint
    [*:2zl6nnby]VHT black paint

Sure there are some other bits. The last recorded service was at 63K back in 2007! I got the car on 87K and I'm now at 94K give or take. The clutch is f**ked, the headgasket is gone (blowing in to the cooling system). I'm taking the engine out on Monday, sending the head off to be skimmed and doing the full works on the engine. Going to clean up the bay, sand the engine and box, paint everything silver, rocker cover wrinkle red and exhaust manifold black. Will also sand and spray any mank looking mounts etc. Certainly got my work cut out!

This is why my Mum get's p**sed off with me, the house resembles a car shop!

Big thanks to JDM.Jonno for the clutch, cannot reccommend the bloke enough, most genuine, caring, fastest seller I've ever dealt with. True legend. Sim Auto Parts for the timing belt and tensioner, came really quick. Everything else was bought elsewhere haha.

Wish me luck :/
