scottravenhill replied to scottravenhill's topic in Other cars
waiting for her new rims :):):):):) so I found that a couple of the rims were flatspotted and caused a vibration at motorway speeds. ordered a set of wolfrace asia tec jdm's, 18's!!! gona be dangerously low pro on 225 35's but shouldnt affect the ride hight very much at all. hope theyre not too hard to ride on -

sounds similar to what mine did after it stood for ages, except it went bang when it cut out. we tried the relay which did have dry joints but no luck

alright paul, glad to hear the civic is running sweet. the dizzy must have helped loads just being in better condition overall, but I always believed these cars thrived on fresh oil too! I think the dizzy was cream crackered on mine before i sold it. after standing in the cold i took her for a run and she started misfiring whilst driving , then when it got hot it would cut out with a rather loud bang (like a gunshot the neighbours came out) and a cloud of unburnt fuel came out the exhaust. I do miss her though the heavy noisy beast!!!- 3,767 replies

hi guys ive ordered a new distributor cap for this cutting out when hot problem. after reading various forums im starting to worry that it may need a whole new distributor. any ideas? cheers
-
Cheers guys I will have a look over the weekend. First thing I thought was give her a blast, I might try blasting it from cold coz she dies if I let her get to temp first, not great but u never know it might help.
-
Yo dude sorry. which problem u referrin to? Ok car starts and runs revs up fine when cold, ok till she gets hot, then as soon as I rev her she misfires and dies. then won't restart till cold. I've tried wd40 on plugs n leads n dizzy but no luck. Any ideas guys?

I think its from the bottom corner of the head gasket on the dizzy side, but it doesn't leak badly at all.
-
He turned up today whilst she was running. I read my messages wrong and didn't think he was comin til tomorrow. He spotted a little oil leak I didn't declare in the ad and decided he didn't want it.
-
She started first time today and drove fine, idled for 10 mins then wouldn't restart 20 Mins later. Think she's just a little damp. Nothing WD shouldn't sort out fingers crossed

When I first got mine the windscreen trim was loose at the bottom by the bonnet hinge, when I eventually got the screen replaced, the aperture was all rusty underneath. Check your seals before its too late! Haha. (chances are its not this ofcourse)

Re: Scotts Celica Gen 7 VVTL-I 190 NEW SHOES ON!!!!!!!
scottravenhill replied to scottravenhill's topic in Other cars
Cheers dude I'll check it out. I'm amazed this car has done 132k and not a spot of oil anywhere, touch wood! I got used to moppin up after the civic after it squeezed the odd wet one out! -
I'm tryin to convince myself it was water in the intake with all the puddles n rain and not the redex. I only put 1/8 of a bottle into about 1/5 of a tank. Ur supposed to put 1/8 into 50 litres.
-
So the guy was coming tomorrow to buy her so thought I would give her a run. Started first time but took a few secs to idle properly. Put a splash of redex in. Drove her round the block twice and then let her idle for a bit. Turned her off and on a few times, pressin.g the throttle inbetween to try and stop the cable sticking. ( it was closing a little slow) took her for another run and she started going down on power when I renamed it, before vtec. Drove her back, let her idle and she kept popping now and again. Turned off engine and tried to restart, starter turns and she coughs, and again. Then bang, like a gunshot, the neighbours were lookin. I went and fetched 5 litres of fuel in case the redex was too strong but to no avail. Currently she is dead. not good.
