  1. I cannot seem to get the link to work. How do you remove this thread? Thanks
  2. Hi their.. The gearbox on my MB3 is getting ridiculously noisy in 1st and 2nd gear (input shaft). So I had a look on Ebay and I saw this.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-HONDA-CI ... 3f1688f961 But before I purchase it, I want to make sure it fits my car (1.5 Vtec D15Z8 MB3) I don't know if this gearbox came from a Civic Coupe or a 5 door hatch like mine. Thanks for reading and thanks for your help
  3. When my Civic is idling it makes that grinding noise. But if you push the clutch pedal in the noise goes away. Its a lot louder when driving in 1st and 2nd gear. But it isn't so loud in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Yesterday I checked the gearbox oil and that seems fine. I also took it to a garage and matey said its the thrust bearing.. no help there haha. Hopefully I can get it sorted soon
  4. I might buy that genuine Honda stuff, isn't cheap though
  5. I forgot to mention what the gearbox sounds like in 1st and 2nd gear. It almost sounds like a grinding or scraping noise.. Or sounds a bit like a thrust bearing but only a lot louder. And is it easy to remove the gearbox if I wanted to fix it? Cheers
  6. Hi there.. So its been over a year now a had my MB3 Civic and its a great car. The only problem is the gearbox, its getting louder in 1st and 2nd gear (very annoying) I have seen a lot of people over the internet saying its the input shaft bearings which is a common fault. I am starting to have a look around for another gearbox and it would be ideal if I can get the same one in the Civic now (1.5 vtec-e D15Z8 MB3). Will a D14 or D16 gearbox fit? These are the only one's I can find on Ebay and other sites at the moment. I did go scrappy but there aren't any Civic's there. Or should I just repair the noisy gearbox in the Civic now? Or new gearbox oil/additives might make it quieter? I dunno where to start! Any help or suggestions would be great? Thanks for reading
  7. Function trumps fashion. remember that you can tow up to 750kg on your currant full driving licence so you may not need to take the trailer test. I will check up on that one as I have been stopped by two policeman towing a trailer And I was only towing one of those tiny aluminium trailers which I bought from Halfords. I cannot remember the weight of it though..
  8. Thanks! I haven't done much to the car, just small changes like clear indicators, stickers and interior colour coding
  9. Na its only a universal Ebay backbox.. but I might put the original backbox on just to be on the safe side. These MB3's have ridicules long gear ratios, It can hit 90mph in 3rd! I am looking for another gearbox because its getting louder (Input shaft bearings). There is no bottom end power but it goes like stink once it gets over 3500rpm. Haha I know the towhook doesn't look cool but I am taking towing lessons soon to carry my bike trailer around
  10. I know its not a MB6 backbox but that's what it came off. Its just a cheap universal Ebay crap. Sounds better though
  11. Its been a while since I last visited the website, So its about time I do an update on my Civic! I fitted another backbox which came off a MB6 VTI (from scrappy, heart breaking to look at.. ) I also fitted clear indicators which came off a Rover 400. I got 15" black spoke Wolfrace alloys ready to go on but I need 2 new tyres.. I have also got a MB6 spoiler but I'm not sure if I want to fit it.. I haven't done much to the Civic but its a start!
  12. Haha, my mate has a modified Golf 1.6 and he cannot keep up with me He wants a Civic now. I won't be doing anything to my Civic when it comes to performance because I also want efficiency. And its no point modding a Eco engine when you might aswell get a normal Vtec Civic. Maybe just nice clean alloys & a bit of body detailing
  13. I can fit them to the bumper but then the mudflaps will flap around a little I cannot fit the inner mudflap to anything. But i have got a few ideas on how to solve this so hopefully it will work. Thanks anyway
  14. Hi there.. I just recently bought 4 sets of Honda mudflaps from Ebay, because it does my head-in washing the car every week. I have fitted the mudflaps to the front with no problems but i cannot see how i can fit them to the rear. The inner wheel arch doesn't go low as the bumper so the mudguard cannot attach to it. Has anybody managed to fit them to their Civics? If so, how? Many thanks
  15. Thanks! I didn't know you posted a comment on the thread. Ye i love my MB3 and its all starting to come together now with modding (Alloys and detailing) Hopefully i can keep it forever because its a perfect car! Good on fuel and it doesn't hang around haha.
  16. Thanks mate! I love the look of your car, looks beast Thats the sort of style i want to go for. Damn i bet your insurance is sky high you being 2 years younger than me!
  17. Thanks everyone! I'm keeping this car standard for a bit and then hopefully do some subtle mods later on. I am planning to keep this car for a few years or might not NEVER get rid of it.. I am now looking for some genuine Honda alloys as i can't stand these wheels 1"£££$££"
  18. £1800 a year... But thats not bad considering my mate got a 1 litre Corsa and that cost him over 2 grand!!
  19. So here's my 1st car which is a Honda Civic 1.5i LS Vtec-E MB3 (D15Z8) Its totally standard with full service history, 96'000 miles on the clock and only 2 owners from new! Don't ask how much the insurance cost (Its a lot) lol. I have got some ideas on what to do with the Civic, maybe go for a VTI lookalike. Thanks for viewing!
