  1. Used Billy at CAS loads now and hes excellent. Competitive prices and really good at what he does. Had systems from him on a good few of my cars now and cant fault the guy at all.
  2. Lol yea man shafts ordered so if it's not fixed it their will be one less mb on the road lol
  3. Hopefully mate guy at work said the same thing Said he would be suprised if the inner ones goosed so here's hoping lol
  4. No sure tbh mate was on eBay on that j r motors place it just said nearside shaft
  5. Am I not right in saying the passengers one would be longer? Yet it's cheaper lol.
  6. Don't feel it through ma seat now since spigots have went on bud. Only get vibration slightly on my floorwell and the wee foot rest bit by the clutch. The vibrations about 80% better according to a mate so maybe the other shaft could still be at fault and is hopefully causing the occasional thumping as well . If not me and the old girl are going to fall out big style.
  7. Cheers mate. If not I've got a gallon of fuel and match awaiting her.
  8. Ahh then that would excuse it for breaking as quick if it is the shaft. I'm hoping the spigots I've got will be ok. An engineer machined them out of aluminium. Cost me a bomb.
  9. The closest thing i can put the thump to is its like the exhaust thumping the underside of the car. It's defo not exhaust tho. I have ordered a new passenger shaft now but previous owner insists the shafts were changed at the beginning of this year which now alarms me. It doesnt do it all the time but id put money on the thumping being related to the vibration thats still slightly their. It gets to the stage where it gets quite scary to drive which sucks.
  10. Can happen anytime from driving along at 50 or 30 to reversing into a space, also does it when tapping the throttle to make nice pops lol. I barely had to even put any force into moving the shaft, it was almost effortless. Would like to have hoped the thudding was coming from the shaft but im unsure. Could gearbox or anything provide any clunks or anything?
  11. right apologies bumping this back up again. Had to get spigot rings engineered and my mate thinks the vibration is about 80% better but its defo still their. Their is also sometimes a knock that comes through the pedals thats hard to explain, only thing i can get close to explaining is as if wheel studs were lose that kind of thump. Wheel studs are fine btw just to put that out their lol. Now could the passenger driveshaft cause a thump to come through my pedal box kind of area? Also when i had driverside jacked up i wiggled passenger shaft and i could quite easily move it. I was told tho that their should be a certain amount of play but this just seemed a bit easy. Apologies for the dragging on of the thread just its def getting closer so hoping we can nail this together lol.
  12. Yea if i keep under 50% Throttle i think its then okay. I think anyway lol.
  13. Yea on motorways v-tec is in nearly all the time, just lucky i dont have any motorways near me only on them when on shopping trips or away to do stuff on the car lol
  14. Yea pretty happy with the readings so far and will hope to gain slightly more lol. I have heard a lot of people say they had their v-tec raised but to me what the chap at AVA said made sense about having it lower. Suppose their is a lot of people that also like having the kind of kick at higher revs but i personally having tasted both much prefer power coming in early and giving a nice constant pull from 3800 all the way through to the end lol.
  15. Cheers alastair also gives me faith in the readings if similar mods on your mates gives around same power. Don't get me wrong with the vtec situation I didn't gain a lot of bhp with it set lower it just seems to deliver it better. Set at 4800 the graph was quite jaggy, but lowering it gave a very smooth power curve which reflects in road driving. Suprisingly so far fuel has been ok lol, at a downside here anyway as it's a lot of gear changes and stopping and starting, don't really get a chance to stretch it's legs lol.
  16. Yea your right. The guy who done the work has done a fantastic job so I won't be changing much as long as she keeps running sweet. Yea have heard so many different opinions on ecus maps etc I think I'll just give it a wide birth at the moment.
  17. It was set quite low when i got the car and it had apparently been set up by civic cup lot. Me being curious and messed about with the controller and vtec ended up back at 4800. Now its back down again it feels more alive like when i bought it lol. Yea id imagine the de-cat and mongoose would prob be helping a fair whack, not sure how much a lightened flywheel would have helped if any along with sports clutch. Wouldnt mind banging in some better cams and seeing what happens then but dont think i could afford it sadly :/
  18. Ah yes that makes sense, I've still got my iabs tho as had no idea you could delete them, wouldnt ya need a different ecu to do that through? The p28 or something? Feels fantastic on the road, surges through the whole rev range very nicely. Still keen to try fine tune it more though lol
  19. He reckoned moving higher was a waste of time, means would be waiting longer for a whack of power where as lower im in my power quicker then the iab's open up so it was giving me a great distribution of power. He did say the higher reading could have been just due to things having been properly warmed up but it was evident on the dyno the power curve was much better compared to it being set at 4800 rpm. Car has induction kit, mongoose cat back with de-cat lightened flywheel and a few other bits that wouldnt make much diff on a dyno lol.
  20. The guy was fantastic, had tonnes of knowledge i tuning cars just lacked enthusiasm lol. However we are unsure if the product has been wired in incorrectly as we could alter v-tec but not air flow even tho we were picking up signals from the sensors so will need to get wiring looked into. We did find out at the point v-tec enters, or just marginally after, it runs marginally lean but then richens back up. When we had v-tec set at 4800rpm we made 182bhp at engine and 162 at wheels. The power curve also wasnt very smooth. So we moved v-tec down to 3800 revs and produced 187bhp which was around 167 at the wheels. Having v-tec come in early also gave an extremely smooth power curve. He seemed impressed with my car which i was chuffed about and he gave me the chat saying they make these cars seem slow at low end so when v-tec kicks in is meant to impress people, however by having it set lower means it distributes the power curve far more effectively in which the dyno proved this. So all in all was very happy with cars readings but slightly disapointed that we couldnt fine tune more, will hopefully sort tho and return in the very near future.
  21. Cheers for that mate. Apart from being up their own arse was their work ok?
  22. Well off to ava tomorrow. Can't say I'm not nervous, prob didn't help I googled the place and the feedback was mixed. In fairness you can't please anyone just hope they are good. Apparently they do have a good knowledge of the apexi thing so fingers crossed. Also thanks for the description nik appreciate it
  23. Going to roll with spigots first as itl be cheaper. Just need to try find what size to go for first. If that doesnt work ill change other shaft and pray for the best lol.
