There are 2 types of turbo internal or external wastegate. internal wastegate dumps the exess boost down and out of the downpipe.

External waste gate it bolted onto the manifold and it has a pipe of it which is the screamer pipe the excess boost it dropped down that and as it vented to atomsphere there make alot of noise hence the name.

Wastegate and dump valve are on to oppsite sides of the boost circuit. wastegate controls the boost pressure by dumping exhaust gases from the engine in the manifold out through the screamer pipe to stop the turbo from spooling/ over boosting.

a dump valve dumps the boost out of the intercooler pipes when the throttle body is closed and the turbo is still producting boost so this stops turbo stall and ware and damage to the turbo.
