Hi guys,

Thought it was about time I started one of these seeing as ive been here a few weeks now. Progress will be slow, probably extremely slow just now as I've just started working in a new job so funds are a little short at the moment. Hopefully things will pick up in the next few months!.

Anyway, this is my mb2 when I first got her. Only had her a few weeks and love her already!

Got it for £850, 2 previous owners, including the guy I bought it from, who just buys and sells them. 83000 on the clock, full service history and all mots and services done by arnold clark. Engine runs sweet and everything works fine. Bodywork has alot of scratches on it but they just look like surface scratches so they should just polish out. No rust apart from a small part on the rear arch, again, just surface rust.

First thing I done was give her a good clean then went up to halfrauds and got a new headunit as it still had the factory headunit in it with a tape player!. 100 odd quid later and we have this (excuse the dust and s**te photos)

Pioneer headunit with cd player and aux input. Also got if fitted as I was meant to be getting speakers from them too, so the £100 was for the headunit and the 30 quid fitting. Then they told me they didnt have speakers in stock and I would have to wait till the next week, plus pay 30 quid PER SPEAKER to get them fitted. Needless to say I told them where to put there speakers.

So got the measurements from mate who works in halfords and jumped down to a local auto shop and picked up 2 sets of these.

Not the best on the planet but they will do just now, and they are much much better than the factory ones. So thats all ive done just now, but heres some plans for what I want to do and I'll keep this updated.

• Lower her on coilovers, thinking about 20-30mm

• Polish and remove all the scratches

• New interior, black leather as I hate the creamy beige thats in it just now!

• Install an armrest, hopefully with cupholders

• Upgrade the speakers and get a sub and amp. Hopefully make a clean boot build

• Alloys. Deep dish of somesort, not had a proper look about yet to decide though

• New steering wheel. The one I have on it just now, the rubber moves round the steering wheel when you grip it!

And if I get a few quid together, and the missus doesnt rip my balls off for it........

B20! Haha!

Well thats all I can think of just now, but I'll keep this updated with progress of the car. Comments and criticism welcome!

William

Most of the mods on your list can be had out of a VTi from a breakers yard. If you are only lowering that much you may as well just get springs, unless your shocks are knackered?

Some of the little mods like cup holders etc are the best i think. I couldn't be without my cupholders. Also little things like LED interior bulbs cheap and effective mod that makes a big difference.

I was thinking springs because i have the kids in the back aswell as prams ect so dont want to lower it too much but I also want to slam it because I love the look of it! So thats the main reason I was thinking coilovers. Im going to fit a light to the little compartment next to the drivers door just under the heater because I keep my change in there and its a pain in the arse to see what your getting out at night!

Yeah thats the plan, or if the missus gets her own car, then I'll slam it haha was thinking adjustable coilies then that way I can slam it if im going to shows or just out and about without the kids. Dunno if thats a good idea though?
