My Civic MA The Story Continues, She’s Back :)

Recommended Posts

i think its time to start my project thread :) i brought my civic MA8 1.4is in february its my first car! I chose the 1.4 because of the low insurance group as I'm 21 (but ended up being over 3K!!) I have always loved these civics, I was looking for one for a while in a good colour, but I found this one in a rare colour (Phantom Grey) and i picked it up for a price I couldn't refuse ;) with a bit of tax and mot the car is mechanically sound but the previous owner didn't look after the body work to well :( but the old civic is in good hands now and will be forever as I'm never geting rid of her, I am going to be doing a fair bit of work on her from the ground up with an engine conversion coming at some point.. I've settled for a (D16w4 it's the same as the Y8 and Y2) but the engine is now fitted, I will turbo it soon :D This is how the car looked when i brought it IMG00029-20130223-1553_zps9aac5761.jpg

i sorted the front end out but i still wasn't happy with how the front grille looked (soon to be changed), i also brought some new 16" fox alloys IMG00058-20130410-0326_zps152728ac.jpg

i had to sort the back end out so i went to my local breakers yard and picked up some light clusters off an MB, and also brought a spoiler not long to fit just drill out the circles in the boot lid and wire up the light to where the high level break light connection runs too. as i said i still wasnt happy with how the grille looked so i decided to remove it completely and mesh it instead of spraying it black like everyone else does, and i also resprayed the front bumper to a dark silver so it looks nice when i get the bonnet carbon wrapped and i added some rover 45 side indicators as the orange honda ones are ugly. That is a sweet looking MA mate! Love the colour and the EP wheels look great in black. My 1st car is a 1997 MB3 D15Z8. I still got her now :D

I think I prefer the alloys in silver though.

I did like the EP alloys in silver, but i have always preferd black alloys on a dark car, as for the colour of the car I love it because its different, and I have never seen one the same as mine :D

I guess your backbox is a universal? If so how did you fit it? I got a universal 4" Piper backbox and wondering what is the best way fitting it (use clamps or weld it together) Thanks :)

I would weld, as clamps will only come loose over time.

Yes mate the back box is a universal 5" I fitted it myself all you have to do is unbolt the OEM one 2x bolts and there was 3 brackets on mine, it wasn't as easy to fit as they made out on the website, I had to buy another fitting kit and 2x more clamps. But I strongly suggest that you do get it welded up to seal it and make it secure, I did :D

Thanks for the input :D Welding it is then... Ye that is going to be a pain to fit as the Piper backbox don't have any brackets or supports. I took my car to a exhaust garage last week and they said there is no way you can fit a universal backbox to these Civics (which is a load of b*llocks) so i'm going to try and fit it myself ;)

The sunstrip blends in nicely on your M 8-) My car has an oil leak at the same area (around the crank pulley area) I think it's either the sump gasket or the crankshaft seal. I personally wouldn't worry about it as I had my car a couple years and haven't lost any oil ;)
