  1. Hello guys, been on here a while now and you've all helped me out so I think it's about time I made a build thread. Initially I was looking at 1.4 MB sports because I'm 20 and thought I'd get shafted on Insurance but after ringing about, I managed to get fully comp for just over a grand on an MB6. Yay! So started hunting for an MB6 and found one not too far and a for a decent price, so went down and a few days later I picked up a 1999 Pirates Black MB6 which is absolutely rust free and with one of the cleanest Engine bays I have ever seen on a 15 year old Honda. So the spec list when I bought it was: A bunch of blown Sony X-plod components An adjustable decat A cat-back with a hiddeous 5 1/2" backbox which was held on with 1 hanger and rattled like mad A bit of piping with an eBay filter on it Powder-coated wheels with 4 miss-matched tyres HID kit which I love, not too bright but not too bluish Things I've done to it so far: Rover wind deflectors JVC headunit with a 1100W JBL 6 channel Amp, 1000W JBL sub, Alpine front door speakers and 6x9s. Luckily one of the previous owners had a good install so all the wiring was already there and the front door speaker holes were covered in sound proofing DC2 gear knob ToyoSports cat-back which is great for £150. Car sounds so much deeper than before and Vtec is much more pronounced because the exhaust doesn't drone everything else out Service inc Engine oil, filter, gearbox oil, fuel filter, plugs and leads, pollen filter Energy Suspension Gear linkage bushings which has made changing gear so much better Magnetic Sump plug Had some Alluminium piping laying around so I stuck the original rubber pipe on and ran the ally piping down to where the resonator box sits as a home-made CAI. Loving the car at the minute, came from a 1.8l Accord which had around 135bhp when new but the one I had was s**te, so the MB6 is like a major step-up. The next few things I want to do is throw on some 16" Rota Slipstreams and some coilovers but the Meisters cost basically 3 1/4s of the car Going to be saving up money to hopefully boost it over summer/winter but I want it to be able to handle the power first. I'll put some current pictures of the car up tomorrow, but thanks for reading

  3. Hi Guys I hooked her up to a diagnostic all came back clear and for the moment she is fine. I think it was a bad batch of fuel or cheap supermarket fuel. Anyway now have to sort the clock bulb an we all know what a pain the neck that one is. Thanks again guys

  5. Haven't updated this in a looong time! Few little things done such as, blackened headlights, indicators and very very slight smoke on the rear clear strips on the lights similar to the way the Accord type R is. Whale p***s has been swapped out for a Dc2 airbox and pipe with Spoon drop in filter and my cold air feed has been plumed directly into the air box. Skunk2 66m throttle body was fitted because of problems fitting an integra one (ruined the rotor spring Doh!). Gearbox has been rebuilt at Grinspeed with mfactory parts and at the same time an RPC stage 2 jobby was fitted, as well as a 3.6kg Fidanza flywheel. Speed wise it's exactly where I want it now, the thing bloody flies up to 60mph! Just a few little mods on the exterior (smoothed bumper and strips) and then I'll focus on the interior. Oh Vti's front lip has gone on and the skirts will be going on when I get them back from the painter.

  7. Got the car back. One word: wow. The difference is mental. First off it feels like I was running on a 1.4l 3 cylinder, car pulls so hard now and I can actually hear the vtec! Was going to return my whale p***s intake because it didn't make any noise, it bloody does now And the handling! Had to keep correcting mid corner because the car was pulling into the apex whereas I was expecting it to run wide. Doesn't stink of fuel and after a 15 minute blast my petrol guage hasn't even changed whereas before I would have emptied a quarter tank near enough. Basically fallen in love with it again, but now its scary fast Finally snapped some pics, will get some proper camera ones after its had a wash tomorrow. Tomorrow will be fitting the ATR spoiler, mesh grille, spraying the chrome bit and doing my callipers in blue. Very impressed with it all though, brake upgrades will be purchased next week and then its finally onto powaaa.

  9. So, finally got everything on order and should all arrive some time this week. Also got an ATR spoiler on the way which will hopefully finish the back off when it gets dropped. Got a new CD player today as well, Xtrons Unit with a single din screen and most importantly, bluetooth which means I don't have to keep ugly Aux wires anymore This beast arrived today as well The filter is freaking huge compared to what I have now

  10. Spoke to Rim-Style yesterday night and they've arranged to have the right size wheel sent to me tomorrow, so can't really fault their customer service. Seems like they don't hold any stock themselves but put the order straight to Rota and put the delivery address as mine. Couple of pictures of the wheels on: Love the fitment now, sits perfectly on the edge of the arches. In serious need of lows though, and they will come in the form of the Meister Zeta's. The car has changed massively in the last week as well, it's gone from pulling and handling well, to an absolute animal. Don't know what's happened to it but I'm not complaining. Had a little race when I first picked it up with my uncles FN2 and mates ATR and lost by a good car and a half, whereas now it's dead on neck and neck upto about 80-90 where our private race-track ends Took the bonnet engine bay cover off as well which has dramatically improved Vtec noise but also every other noise. Keep turning the radio off thinking I've heard a knock or clang or something, used to be a regular past time in my old knackered Accord Still having problems with a stiff accelerator. It's fine until I push it more than 50% down at which point, when I let off and go to push it again, it's stiff until pushed a little and then its fine again until I nail it. I've sprayed WD40 on the pedal mechanism and the throttle cable but it's not done much, although it does move a little freer when driving normally.

  11. Wheels and tyres arrived today, delivery man decided to scare the hell out of everyone at 7am banging on the door like it was the end of the world, haha. Went to fit them but found the spigot rings were a size too big, so rang Rim-Style and they promised they'll get the proper ones shipped out today which isn't too bad. Hopefully they come tomorrow so I can get them on. Only took one wheel off but it had no weights on it and the tyre was showing canvas so hopefully these will sort out the skitishness at motorway speeds. Might stop spinning when pulling off at normal speeds as well Couple of pictures of the exhaust:

  12. Update - Changed over the pollen filter today as the heaters were killing me with fumes. There was literally a forest of leaves and crud in the hole where the filter goes and the actual filter looked like it was the original haha. Much better now though. My uncle has an FN2 and picked up the Gruppe M intake for it so he's giving me his K&N Apollo kit which I should be fitting tomorrow. Comes with a heat-shield/cover type thing which has cold air ducting attached onto it. Makes the K20 scream so hopefully it will do something about my lack of Vtec noise after fitting the smaller exhaust. So because I managed to get the insurance for a great price I've decided to use the money to buy a couple of expensive items for the car and then call it day. So, as a result I ordered 4 16" Rota Slipstreams in black and 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 205/45/16 tyres. Should be here next week, well excited.
