  1. yes, are they different obd? both from similiar years though? unless he goes for a p28/30 ecu which is obd1, conversion harnesses arent too dear either way.
  2. you can just use a JDM DC2 ecu, that will solve your problems regarding the immobiliser/coded key. or a chipped p28/p30 ecu with a generic map, or you can get a road/rolling road tune map put on it.
  3. yes it does buddy, you need the lock nut to keep it holding tight though, if it doesnt come with one, they are £3 ish from honda. otherwise a direct fit
  4. i don't think the air con weighs more then 50 kg? just remove the air con belt if worried it is sapping power..
  5. exhaust manifold you can use, all b-series are interchange-able. the thing with putting a b18c or b16 head on is a couple of water pipes need re routing, there are a couple of other bits that need doing aswell... a cheaper alternative would be just to slap in b18c cams, skunk 2 intake manifold. less work and would probably give you the same gains (after a remap).. i think the type r head only flows about 15 per cent better, you could just port and polish your own. other differences are valve springs i think and a few other minor bits! -- lot of work swapping them over when you can get similiar results just camming it and aftermarket intake n throttle body or original one polished and bored out. choice is yours,
  6. i will keep an eye out, but locally i know a few people who break them occasionally and they sell them for £150-£250 depending on miles,
  7. defo sounds like a dizzy, any error codes or engine management lights? When i've had a dizzy go, its always lit up the engine management light. there is a way to check the dizzy is firing, remove the ht lead and remove the spark plug from the engine, stick the sparker into the ht light, get someone to turn the car over and hold the spark plug near some metal, it if sparks then there is spark coming though! (consult a mechanic who can tell you the exact method but this is what i've seen done) any unburnt fuel smell? have you had a look down the spark plug bores, any oily residue - the O rings on the rocker cover gasket perish over time and let oil into the bores for the spark plugs.
  8. get another engine in, you can pick them up for as little as £150
  9. its fiddly, but if you pull off the glove box, you can get your hand round the back and yank the convertor plug towards the left and down to help it slide in a little more. royal pain to do it! It is fiddly but do-able.
  10. would look amazing with a front splitter, think they are around £150 off ebay
  11. thats the normal 98 uk spec steering wheel, the later uk 99-2000's came with the momo big airbag wheel. The headlights are aftermarket angel eye/smoked jobbies off ebay.com Well worth driving about then once your done shift it on as is, rather then spending loads on it!
  12. the greddy kit my friend has on before would start spooling at 1500 revs! if you want a quick spooling turbo, just go for something small like a t28 turbo, 2" intercooler piping etc..
  13. Go for it, get a kit from usa (turbo + manifold) intercooler kit, oil lines etc you can get from ebay cheap clutch from usa again get a chipped ecu (wide range available) my friend has a turbo mb6, first he had a greddy kit which he sold for a ramhorn type turbo kit t3. it is very fast on stock block, no problems. he has a forged b18c ek9 which he is part way to finishing off.. i had a dc2 turbo few years ago, no real problems. if its done well and the components are put together well. there should be no problems and loss of reliabilty! turbo mb. turbo ek.

  17. very nice cars, had one myself 2002 model with the very rare red interior! very thirsty cars petrol wise..
  18. oem are good for boosted so good enough for normal use! they have lasted about 10-15 years, won't get that with most aftermarket bits!! with aftermarket ones especially 10mm, you can't use the spark plug cover and i have the fittings (dizzy/spark plug end) not very good.
  19. dizzy, common fault when left parked up for some time.
  20. Earthing kit/voltage stabiliser i think..
  21. hi look in the passenger or driver door shut, should give you the colour code that you can google and it will tell you. does look like the ek4 vti opal metallic
  22. sounds like your driveshaft has some play in it making the noise or cv joint inner bearings possibly
  23. as said before, possibly 02/lamda sensor on way out.. generally makes the car drink more petrol
  24. 250 is nice, but you rather run a bigger turbo at low psi, then a smaller one at higher psi etc.. temps etc will all be affected!
  25. Rather go abit larger tbh... b18c4 can hack it! my friends running a t3 57 trim, running about 300 bhp at 10 psi and spools up by about 4k
