burbleboy replied to Dave's topic in Car of the Month 2013 winners
No problems mate, i aint annoyed or think less of you for having an opinion. It's a forum, it's where discussions happen. Were having a discussion (albeit openly!). I was just generalising your thoughts into 'sad' mate! Let's be honest, I should loose this COTM well and truly after this discussion!! P.s I went a blast down the scottish borders with my mate and his civic B16 coupe yesterday...footage is being edited as we speak -

It's my first time entering such things and after you gave your thoughts on entering your own car, i thought i had broken some forum rule that's all! If you think that entering your own car is kind of sad then that's fine! I'm sad! At least this conversation is making others chuckle...and thats fine by me! -

I went that low to get it out my system! Always wanted a low low car but never again..too much hassle just to be 'different'. -

Oops, I wasn't aware of forum etiquette -
Car looks in great condition! Nice plans for it also. I would recommend a Toyosports 4-1 manifold as they sound nice! What about an mgzs spoiler? Saw one on another build thread and it would look mega against your black car! Thanks for posting pics Alastair

No mate, leaving the lights as is! The way i see it is that the accord didn't want to get sold, so it died in my arms! -

Thanks for the comments troops! I should have left my car for Septembers COTM as there are loads of nice cars for August! I was only meant to be adding some light modifications to my civic but ended up not happy with one thing or another and went a little further but i have now finished modding it! Hence the pictures up now! My accord was good to me but it wasn't 'me'. I like cars loud, brash and generally a hoot to drive. The accord was not that car. Too comfy believe it or not! -

Yeah mate, i realise that they are easy now!

My last car had coilovers and 'slammed', i wanted to make my car good for b roads etc and decided that springs and uprated shocks were the way to go as coilovers can be sketchy when fast over bumps! I ended up with eibach springs and mgzs shocks. Works well imo!
-
That is true BUT the forum users thought that the suspension was all the same on the mgzs but in fact there were different variations. Only after I ordered a set and then a 2nd replacement set from cw dismantlers did we know that the mgzs suspension had variants. Others then came forward and said they had the same problems. I am not on here to say that this forum is useless...far from it, mistakes do happen and i just wanted to make others aware that unless the info is solid, mistakes will and do happen.

Aye mate, i was too lazy to find a torch and go out at 11pm to strip interior and measure speakers only to discover your neighbour still has your measuring tape so would be guessing. Sometimes people are just too busy the next day to do these things and when online at the time, trust info on the forum to purchase items to be fitted at next free weekend. However, you are correct when you say we should do things ourself....thats the point of this thread!
-
When someone implies that you are "lazy", then that tends to be cheeky in my book. The thread was started because I've had problems with parts before, so this was not a hastily put together starting post. Dave kindly acknowledges the speaker problem and has amended. If no one spoke up and we let people trust information then we would all be buying incorrect parts. The point of this thread is to let others know that you should search more wisely rather that go with someones first piece of information. Simples

I was on my laptop and decided to order speakers at 11.00 at night...bit of a hassle checking them physically at that time....forum been great but members should not take ALL as fact.. I was simply sharing my views, so less of the cheeky remarks please. In regards to mgzs suspension...look through my previous started thread and you will see that i had x2 suspension kits sent from cw dismantlers and car sat too high etc. Ended up buying eibach springs and mgzs shocks. The majority of forum info is spot on so my rant is over!
-
Doing a search on the forum for rear speaker sizes threw up info that they are 4" rear speakers. Wrong. They are 5" rear speakers on mb6. Again, wasted cash as I can't see through packaging so had hacked it open and now I cant return them. Very frustrating but not nearly as much as the alleged perfect mgzs suspension setup....now that WAS a hassle. Moral of the story? Find out stuff yourself as forums can mislead. Rant over.
