I'm just looking for ways to make it quicker without spending too much on the engine, as I'm going to swap it out for either a H22,B18,or a B16 soon so I just want to mess about with the little D14 atm
-
So what ecu do I go for? And how Do I go about getting it remaped? thanks
-
Anyone know how I can go about increasing the fuel cut off limit on a D14 because mine revs just over 7k but it doesn't actually seem like its over reving or hitting the limiter. I can just tell it wants more fuel going through
-
Well I just came back after a drive and the car seems to run better after I have been driving it hard for a bit I even showed up a guy in a 57 plate merc CLK 220 cdi trying to race me on a quiet road (the look on his face when I passed him made my day haha)
-
That's true I keep telling him to get a civic, but he would rather keep fixing his scrap yard prone fiat LoL

NIKH25. Its not the same as any other engine... My mates got a punto, he doesn't rag it, always well serviced with decent oil etc, and its forever causing him problems and breaking down... I always let my engine get up to temp before I give it some, and after I drive it hard I always let it idle for a minute or to before I switch it off.

Yeah mate its good to know that there is some one on here down the road from me I'm not far from ward end. Should meet up some time and go to meets etc I'm surprized I havnt seen your MB about yet well theirs a lot of em in brum lol -
Just wondering how much abuse my D14A2 can take in my MA? As I am going to swap it out for a more powerful unit at some point. So I just want to know how long it will last with a heavy foot. (I do maintain the engine fully with regular servicing etc.) I have heard that the D-series engine is a tuff old unit.

I finally got my MA on the road after sorting the insurance out its just over £3000... After driving it around for abit I noticed it was really under powered because of the pipercross induction kit (they say it gives more BHP) but in reality you actually lose power especially on a 1.4, so I took it off and refitted the original air box with the pipercross induction tubing, and the resonator still removed. And now she's much more responsive reving all the way to the red I even smoked a new zetecS earlier so my civic carn't of lost a lot of power over the years. But I still want a bigger engine lol -

Well i passed my driving test the other day so she will be on road soon. Im just trying to find a good insurance quote I have also done some more work on the ma8, *just a quick list*. I spent a fair bit of time cleaning all under the car and wheel arches. removed both front wings. windscreen wipers and the plastic trim that sits behind the bonnet. I then started removing the old flaking underseal from around the bonnet hinges to find some minor surface rust which was easily removed and treated. I then removed both side skirts cleaned the sills. i then applied fresh underseal to the underside of the car. i used a fair bit of the stuff, but the thing that took the longest was the cleaning! I didnt take any pics because i was too busy working. But she looks alot fresher underneth now and is properly protected from rust and water. * It took me alot of time to get the car ready to be undersealed because you have too make sure all the rust is properly taken care of, and make sure no dirt or moisture remains or you will just make things worse*. -

i sanded and painted the front calipers and the rear hubs yesterday as they were abit rusty and didnt look too good, quite an easy and simple way to make the alloys look better on the car -

thanks mate I am going to drop it but am lost to what springs/suspension to go for? Maybe mg zs -
I'm not too sure about that, but didn't the 1.4is come with fogs aircon etc because I've seen ones that have. Ill just get some fogs from the breakers yard and see if the connectors are the same
-
Yeah they do but on yours it will have the double switch for front and rear fogs, but mine had the single rear fog switch, I think on mine because the front bumper that was on the car from the salvage yard never had fogs on, they cut costs and removed the switch, because I don't see why them wires are there.
-
I didn't have the switch, but I put one in and it still works for the rear fog lamp, I think I'm going to risk it and buy a pair of MB front fogs.

i have finished painting the faded black trim going down the doors, there was a good bit of dirt behind it though it looks alot better now i just have to buy the vti skirts and lips, and make it fit my car with abit of modding -
If they are mate what fog lamps will fit my car? And I think my civic did come with fogs standard because its the 1.4is with aircon and some other extras, but when I brought the car the front bumper was a different colour to the rest of the car, and had the plastic covering where the fog lamps should go.
