i have been doing some more cosmetic work on the front end of my MA, as when i resprayed the bonnet and bumper the first time the colour was not the same as my car even though it was (colour matched) by halfruads, but i have got the right stuff for it now after a long wait. i also cut out the fog light holes in the bottom of the bumper and meshed it up, and spent a while getting the bumper to fit properly as the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to use masonry screws to hold it on :/ but now its on properly it looks alot better -

MA8 exterior door strips (black)...Help with removing?
skitzma8 replied to skitzma8's topic in Body/Electrics/Interior
well i had the door cards off today to remove the strips, its really quite simple on the front doors there is a 10mm bolt holding the end of the strip in place. Then when you remove the door cards you will see a series of white clips, carefully remove these in sequence being careful not to snap any of them, the clip right at the end of the door stays on and you just slide the strip across and thats it really Make sure you clean all the dirt behind these strips -
Ahh thanks for the help ill probably have to get MB6 rear bumper before I buy the flaps.

Thanks for the info I thought they would be clips, hopefully they aint brittle. I will have a go tomorrow -
If you have checked all the options above to no avail, you could be looking at worn piston rings

Does the castrol magnetec engine oil you use reduce overall engine noise? as my MA8 ticks a little on start up, but goes slightly when the engine is warm, its only a quiet ticking noise, I have heard others idleing on the net and they sound the same as mine.
-
Ahh that's Castrol streight out of the window then,(I want the best oil on sale I don't care on the price) ill have a look at the link to see what's on there cheers.
-
I am interested to know which is the best engine oil to put in my MA8 as I need to do an oil service, I don't want to just put any make in, I don't mind paying a decent bit of money for it as I want quality oil, the car has covered just over 107k miles and can someone tell me what viscosity engine oil the D14A2 uses please (still waiting on a haynees manual)
-
Looking good I carnt wait to see this when its done, bet its gonna be mint
-
I will do the insides I moved some of the carpet in the boot today to have a look at the pannel above and around the wheel arches I carnt see any rust anywhere but I'm going to wax oil it anyway but I'm not going to go mad with the stuff, the only bit of rust I have on my car is around where the bonnet hinges sit each side so ill put abit around that aswell just to protect it abit

how much would a mini me conversion cost on a D14?
skitzma8 replied to skitzma8's topic in Engine & Chassis
Basicly I'm going to buy a civic with a B16 or B18 that I can use for all the parts I need for the swap for me it works out cheeper as i know the right places and people to get one for a few hundred quid that's in poor body work condition or a failier on the MOT, as for the brakes I'm going to get decent aftermarket ones, and as for the suspension I'm going for the MG ZS suspension but put lower coilovers on them -

i know that the D series standard internals can handle upto about 200bhp if you run anymore than that it will just detonate i going to buy a B16 or a B18 engine because they are more tunable and i can get one for a decent price -
