Right ive moved a convo from another thread as i dont wanna spam it . Heres a quick summary it was said that the top speed of the s9b should be around 150mph but mine only achieved 132mph on a flat out run n hit the limiter n that vtec should kick in at 4500rpm but mine dosent hit till about 5200rpm n iab should be at 5800rpm but mine dosent come till 6200rpm ish what the hell is going on is there multiple problems or is it somthing simple like a s**t rev gauge any input will help as im worried

-
When im cruising at 70 its sitting at 4100 n my vtec dosent kick in till 5200 ish n my iab is not till 6200 is this good or bad
-
I do too but the price tag is redunk so its a custom sump n an accusump to help in the bends this should do the same job as a dry sump set up but b a dam sight cheaper
-
So what gearbox have i got then as i paid for an s9b but there is no case stamp saying as much. is there a chance theres the wrong gear set in it because trust me it wouldnt go any faster which really dissapointed me as ive always been told the could go to 150 ish really getting worried ive been ripped off
-
Well on a lot of old cars the main beam switch was on the floor n some people put in later columns with it on the stork it might have been that originally n i have seen people use it as a noz switch which is totally awesome
-
well mine defo has an lsd but it would not go any faster than that it was hittin the limiter n my m8 in his m3 pulled away n that still is limited to 155 so now im worried its got an issue lol

Yeah baby get the duck tail out i think the car looks best with 1 on n i think they were meant to be there from the start gr8 job dude -
dam thats good i did a top speed run the other week n topped out at 132 how come the s4c has a longer final drive
-
Yeah im not looking forward too it but my mate is optimistic as hes quite good at tig so all i have to do is get a second hand sump n get it machined down n then get some plate n get grant to weld her up lol sounds easy but is gonna be a ball ache
-
Well ive been doing some more research on the sump n a dry sump is way way way to expensive as in £1800 upwards (brandname) so im going to modify the standard one n theres a young lad in florida whos made a reverse sump n put pics up on how he did it n it looks good but time would tell as wether it will last but heres some pics The last pic is of a vq30dett oil pickup pipe which is needed as an sr20 has a front pickup this set up should save me about £1500 quid its just gonna be some time consuming fabrication fun lol

I need full leather in my life it looks so good nice job dude. im trying to convince my m8 who is a sofa trimmer to do my seats n door cards but he dosnt want 2 he says he cant be bothered (motorbike rider) dosnt like cars
-
Mine dose tis n its coz i didnt change the fly when i put a new clutch its nothing too bad it just means the clutch wont last too long but seeing the last one did 100k odd im not too worried
-
Yeah should be gr8 fun ive been chatting to a guy in oz that did it n he said i need customize the sump so i might get a dry sump kit
-
Yep its well easy to make one me n the guys i used to work with made 1 out of an old xr4i recaro n it looked awesome all you need is an old seat, some 2mm flat plate n some 25mm x 12mm box section n a welder job done just make sure u limit the recliner as it will tip lol as i found out

Well i went to get the engine up on the stand as the rain stoped for a while. anyway so i split off the gearbox then took off the clutch which i was happy to find was an exedy stage 1 with half its life left woohoo but as i got to the fly its in a bad way as in very scored so will need a skim but at the moment i cant get it off as i dont have the right socket for the torque bolts or long enough ones to mount it properly so the getting it on the stand will have to wait till tomozz lol always the way
-
Ill get a new pic of the engine when i get it on the stand in the garage coz its p**sin down n its under a tarp n weather prof at the mo
-
Thanks guys got a couple more pics for ya

So as mentioned in other topics i have a mgbgt n i have owned her for the last 10 years, n for the last few years shes been in the garage collecting dust while ive been slowley collecting parts to give her a new life, after the previous power plant went bang i decided too go for a more modern lump n geabox. so now that i have the basics stowed away the build can begin slowley as time allows lol. But as you can see i havent finished sorting the garage as i did my back inn taking delivery of the engine lol mor pics too come
