0 Krzys
Just for info: VTEC engages around 4,400rpm, the IABS (the bit everyone thinks is VTEC) open at 6,000rpm. Any kind of air intake mod will help you hear it.
0 simpo
Yeah you won't here fook all with standard airbox on
0 hondasport
I have an itr airbox and a full exhaust system, but the catback is the most effective for vtec sound, now I hear it kicking in.On the b18c4 there is no oil pressure check on the vtec system as on others? 0 KiNK43
No that sensor is not on b18c4.
0 Krzys
If the oil level or pressure is low VTEC & IABS don't engage still.
0 hondasport
@Krzys how does the ecu knows if the oil level/pressure is okay? I doesn't have a signal on the ecu for that? Or am I wrong?
0 Krzys
Oil pressure sensor, must have one otherwise the oil light wouldn't work...
0 hondasport
yeah, but that's just for the oil light, there is no connection to the ecu or something else.
0 UnicyclingTom
To confirm the Vtec does cut out when low on oil, I was borderline and going up a hill it was on/off/on/off!
0 hondasport
how does it check the oil then?

noodels
Maybe a volt / resistance needed to engage the solenoid valve picked up by a signal via ecu, maybe via an earth more likely as its not a live feed to solenoid.
