Kcrisp
I'm looking at swapping out my 1.4 for potentially a F20B6 motor, I'm new to this and was wondering how possible this is and where I could get engine mounts from and would my trans bolt to it or would I need to swap a different one into it? Really need help as I have a motor planned and money ready I just need to make sure this isn't a mistake Thanks
KiNK43
100% percent don't bother. Engines got barely any aftermarket support.. no readily available mounts. B swap or if you want to do a swap from an accord H swap.
KiNK43
I'll correct myself if you want to do the swap it's upto you it's your car. but it's gonna take some fabrication and effort. Not a straight swap at all. Driveshafts, mounts, wiring loom, exhaust, coolant hoses, gear linkage. All going to need to sourced or fabricated.
Kcrisp
Thank you for your help, I don't have that kind of budget so I think now I will be assembling parts to work towards a D16 with a single turbo, I currently have a D14 so is there anything that I really need in order to install a 16 or is it a simple plug and play before adding the turbo? KiNK43
Yeah pretty much. Depending on what car your d16 comes from you may end up using your d14 engine loom and extending if required. You will also need to run wires back the ECU for VTEC.
Kcrisp
Which would be easier,a d16y8 or a d16z6 or z1?
KiNK43
Get on Google all your answers are there. Look at doing engine conversion in an eg. As very similar.
Erlantzu20
After some pretty similar thoughts i´ve found that it is indeed possible, quite easy and extremly cost efective, specially in my area were d16z6 are rounding 1500 prices for engine and tranny, and f20b6 (vtec engines) are 250 with trannys. What ive found is that it is just like an prelude h22 swap but without the difficoult parts, no block grinding needed. You wil need: -F23a1 5 speed swap, shifter cables, shifter box -F23a1 accord halfshaft (female) -F23A1 passenger side inner cv axle cup -90-93 Accord dx/lx manual rear T-bracket -90-93 Accord dx/lx manual driver side engine post -90-93 Acura Integra cv axles, -H22 into EG mounts( Hasport, Avid, etc) I used Avid billet aluminum mounts -Smaller belt to just go around alternator and crank (I just measured with string and took the string to Advance Auto and found a belt the right length) and miscelanous things. i might be diving further this route and attempting an sub 1000 pund swap. this is really nice because they have quite a strong vtec engangement, same wire harness as my engine (d15z8 MB3) 189Nm of torque and plenty of potential (11.1/1 compression, great fuel millage and a lot of potential since this engines stock can easily handle 300HP )Im really pumped on this topic and i might be updating you guys in the topic.
