  1. So, everything was all lined up for picking my car up from the restoration place on Saturday lunchtime, and I got a call in the morning to say that they were doing the valeting, and found that the spare wheel well was full of water exactly the same as what happened to tubs. He asked if I wanted to sort it myself, or for them to look into it, but seeing as I'd never managed to track the leak down in tubs, I asked them to do it (also, after all the time it's been away I wanted it back sorted). So they set away checking with a hose and found a clip where water was getting in when it was sprayed in a certain way, but in the mean time I'd called my usual mechanic who was going to be sorting the abs and mot to let him know that it was going to be late. He said that when he worked at honda, they had loads of jazz come back with this problem to the extent that honda had to extend the warranty. The problem was the seam seal on the roof starts to fail, and small cracks appear which lets a surprising amount of water in. Honda used to have to strip the old seal out back to a certain amount, and redo it. I got back to the garage and told them about it, and asked them to check in the channel under the roof rails. They had already sealed up any suspicious grommets etc, but they looked into the seal. Turns out that there was a few little sections where it had cracked and small amounts of rust staring. The resealed the whole length just to be certain. I'll put this as a sticky topic coz it seems to be a common problem starting.

  2. Having a really annoying issue with my MA. So as far as I can tell someone fitted an aftermarket alarm system to my car before I got it (I think). I have no idea. The key fob is separate to the key, has no brand and is plane black. It went corroded and stopped working so I started using the key in the locks which seemed to disarm the alarm and the immobiliser. Then I started getting this situation where I'd turn the key, just the drivers button would come up and the alarm and immobiliser stay armed no matter what. Jiggling the key and a bit of WD in the lock sorted that until I came out the other day, no central locking at all, car constantly immobilised and alarmed and I can't do anything about it. Has anyone had an issue like this ? Is the immobiliser and alarm aftermarket does anyone know ? Why did my central locking just stop ? Picture of key and fob below

  3. Hope the car is ok mate, glad you have decent people now looking after your car. Would be heart breaking had this water went undetected for a long time. It will be ready for the summer and when all this covid ia relaxed, we can all meet up and race....i mean chat! ;)

  4. Yeah, it is... although I'm in bed with some bug (not covid) at the minute, so a few more days is okay.

  5. I've not seen it with my own eyes to see what it looks like, but it sounds like something to keep an eye on.

  6. I was wondering if the MA had the same as the others, coz the immobiliser chip is hidden under the rubber bit, so not sure where it could be on that key.

  7. Good shout mate, as things like this will be coming a common thing on our Civics now with the age of them. I did notice that a bit of seam sealer near the scuttle panel/front wing on DD had broke down a bit when I was fixing the scuttle leak. Now that I've fixed that, she's done the legendary Civic M fault of top corner of roof lining now slightly wet near windscreen! Didn't know there was seam sealer under the roof rails so will get them off and check it all out and reseal where needed.

  8. That's an odd problem - especially the bit where the key in the lock was disarming the system but not anymore. Have you been able to have a look at the siren under the bonnet? That might give you an idea of who made it (but if the alarm is going off you might want to disconnect the battery to save your ears ) @Dave had an MA so might recognise the key fob.
