  1. Yea, every car I get I always think It would look better in black I have a thing for black cars, dont know what it is just everything seems to look better on a black car
  2. cheers man,I only ever got the silver surfer as something to keep me on the road after the old bmw began to die but I really like them and with a full car of spares I should be able to keep it for long while. Cant wait to go pick her up now, Its gonna feel like the longest week of my life haha
  3. Ok so I was origianally going to buy the parts from a local honda breaker to do my manual conversion but started to look around on fleabay and the likes to see if I could get a whole donor car for the job. I found plenty of 1.4s and 1.5s which would be ok for the parts but would still need to deal with the ecu. then found a 1.6 going with same engine, same year etc baisically just the manual version of what I have allready but in black, which I prefer, perfect. So I put a bid In and won it at 175 gold coins. I havnt seen the car in person yet so Im not entirely sure what ive bought but the chap seems genuine enough and says the car only needs the front pads changing, which hes supplying with the car, and should pass an MOT no problem. Im sure weve all heard something along these lines before but for what im paying for the car It doesnt really matter either way. Anyway that got me to thinking I may aswell give it a go and book it in for an MOT then I can drive it back from collecting it and take it straight to a test centre local to myself and if it passes or needs very little work to pass and Im happy with the way it drives Il keep that one an use my auto for spare parts. It makes sense to do It that way and it saves using my week off work I have coming up to swap the gearboxes over and all the rest of the work that comes along with it. Ive made the arrangements to collect the car for the end of next week so if all goes well (famous last words haha) I could be driving a black MB4 with a gearbox I have control of and il just swap a few of my parts off the auto onto it, exhaust, steering wheel etc. heres a few pics that I have of the car so far.
  4. Love this mb, Just read through the whole thread and I was a bit sad to see you selling her, good to see shes home again.
  5. Nice work on the exhaust man, Love that upswept look on the back box.
  6. cheers man.Yea I love that clean look. I kinda cheated a bit running the wires underneath instead of through the wing though. And a lot of the wiring and plugs are stashed in the space under the battery tray at the moment so if i move the battery il have to do something with them and moving the fuse box would take an eternity cutting and redoing all them wires would be worth it though. Ive only had to extend two wires so far. one to the indicator and one was to the positive on the battery. Im gonna extend the abs unit wire and put that back in somewhere just to get the dash light off. although the brakes do feel better without it so I might just take the bulb out the dash instead . Just doing what ive done so far was major time consuming Id like to do them all properly eventually. strip the loom back and just do one wire at a time. Its not a difficult job so long as you can use a soldering iron it just takes forever. Lots of patience is the order of the day but well worth it once its done. I really wanna make a start on the back of the engine bay but I think im gonna wait till ive got the manual box in and running at the end of the month then go from there. Just start with one or two bits till ya feel more confident and go from there.this is the first time ive done anything like this in the engine bay. I didnt think I was gonna do as much as i did till i got started then I just kept moving more and more
  7. Servo vacuum pipe, throttle cable and injector loom next but for now I must sleep, bloody night shifts...
  8. More wire hide n seek, this took waayyyy too long, ya certainly need some patience to do this sorta thing.
  9. Cheers man, £5.50 for the filter haha and the rest was free I recycled the pipe that went to the rear washer for it to reach under the battery and just blocked off the rear pipe. I didnt need it since I dont have a rear wiper. Its kind of addictive, I think im gonna see what else I can hide away tommorow.
  10. Few little bits since my last update. Got rid of the rest of the air con pipework, added a super budget awesome filter of air, took all the stars out and took the abs module device out, rerouted the screenwash pipes and moved the battery ground to a more discreet location. Dont know if its just my imagination but since I took the abs device out the power steering feels, well it feels more powerful and the brakes feel better, like more responsive. looking a bit tidier
  11. love this, In the best colour too
  12. Cheers, I must admit it loos better in the pics than it does in real life. Right lets see, Plans in order of how I plan them to pan out. Now these things dont always work out as planned but this is how I hope It should go Manual conversion New wheels and tyres Coilovers Vtec head grooved discs and new pads all hailstone dents and bumper scrapes sorted and respray In original colour theirs probably loads of other little bits and pieces I want to do In between but these are the main ones and give me plenty of to deal with for the meantime.
  13. A little bit about the car as far. I Got the car in a swap deal a couple of months ago for my 200000 mile beat up old 1998 bmw 318 that had been driven to within an inch of its life and when the bottom end started making some baaad noises it was time to move on. I put it up on swapz and was offered the Civic for it. at 100000 miles less than the bmw and generally clean inside and out I went for it. And im really glad i did. It came with the D16w3 engine which is non vtec, contrary to what the door decals say, and it also came with some battered 17" wolfrace alloys, no backbox and "lowering springs" haha So first thing was buying a crx straight through centre section from a mate at work which fit perfectly then picked up a backbox and had exhaust a fix in darlington fit that up with hangers and apropiate flange and whatnot so thats exhaust sorted. I dont like the wheels at all i dont like the style and there way too big but a couple of coats of matt black means I can atleast live with them for a little while. The lowering springs, on closer inspection turned out to be just chopped standard springs. It doesnt seem like too much was cut off so the ride isnt too bad. Again I can live with it for a little while. The grip on my original steering wheel was loose and would twist around the inner solid part of the wheel so that had to go and was replace with what we see in the pictures with a boss made from the original steering wheel (ghetto mods haha) The roof and bonnet have a tonne of little dents all over it where it was caught in a heavy hailstone storm but thats not a serious issue and can be dealt with later down the line. But firstly I must get rid of the awful auto gearbox set up. dont get me wrong it works perfectly well I just miss the feel of changing ger myself so thats going to be the first major thing to be dealt with. I think thats It for now so stay tuned for updates as they happen
