  1. well I didnt get round to painting the wheels yet, but I did get these
  2. On another note, not very exciting but I did pick up a tyre this morning so I can get the other alloy back on in place of that rusty ol spare on the back. Oh and some paint to tidy them up. should get that done by the end of the week.
  3. It is a little extreme hahaha, but I love it. I might put a centre silencer back in yet to tone it down a little. Or a better back box with more muffling capabilities as im not really a fan of the burnt tip thing anyway. although I have got another tip for this a 3.5" round outward rolled jobby but I sold my welder a little while back so I cant put it on yet. Il probably have made my mind up by the end of the month what alterations i want to make to it, maybe?
  4. some final pics before she goes on sat. Im so lucky to have the neighbors I do, they never complain about all my car shenanigans, more curious about what im upto next more than out else
  5. First off I added this last night before work. I couldnt wait any longer. We dont like "cats" round these parts
  6. Well 20 quid to get the brakes pressure bled. So thats a fresh MOT sorted. Let the mods commence
  7. true, makes it all the more worth while when ya bringing it back from the dead
  8. Cheers man, got a long way to go but its starting to turn into an actual car again.
  9. Im sure they were all there when i picked the car up, hundred mile drive back to the test centre must have shaken a couple loose haha
  10. Sorted all the fail list and secured the battery. Ive got a fuel tank and some good brake lines there, but Ive got a problem with a spongy brake pedal now and I cant get the bloody air out of the brake lines now. Im goin to have one more go at it with a different bleed sequence in the morning and if I still have no luck Im booked in for wednesday to have the system pressure bled. On the upside tho ive swapped all the interior over and its much cleaner inside now
  11. Well heres the new project. Same car as the previous but with a manual box and I think its pirate black. (has a purple sparkle when the sun hits it). So a 1.6 sohc 1999 MB4. Its by far the dirtiest car ive ever bought. but with a bit of love itll be somewhere near decent. the outside isnt too bad aside from a dent in the rear quarter and a big scratch down the other side. Oh and a crack in the rear bumper. Inside was just grot and mould everywhere and the drivers window mechanism and seal is goosed ive managed to get it shut for now to keep the rain out but first I need to sort the MOT out. Fail list: horn not working wheel nuts missing poor handbrake efficiency offside handbrake not working (siezed caliper) ABS light on Advisories: battery insecure possible leak from top of fuel tank when full deterioration but not excessive to front brake lines deterioration but not excessive to both rear suspension bushes im sure there was something else but i cant find the sheet at the moment.
  12. Not much left of the silver surfer, If anyone wants the shell please feel free to come and take it.
  13. haha yea, the horn itself is fine so was the fuse so was everything I could think of checking, all seemed fine but it just wouldnt work so I rewired one in least it works for now. switched out the rear swapped the rear caliper for one that works and now ive got a really soft break pedal, ive bled it a few times and then bled all four brakes and its still squishy so im just searching about at the moment to see whats causing it.
  14. Since this is supposed to be the silver surfers thread Il finnish It off by saying I spent all day monday stripping the engine bay along with some other bits and pieces. Safe to say she'll not see the road again but atleast her parts are going to help keep the new car alive. Some time in the next week or two il strip everything I can off her before sending her to car heaven. Il get a few final pics as shes being dismantled but from tommorow Il start a new thread for the new car.
  15. well after a long and treacherous journey (one bus and three trains) I finally picked up the new MB4 today..Had a 100 mile drive back to the MOT station. It only failed on a couple of things. abs light park break efficiency too low rear park break little to no effort offside a wheel nut missing horn not working couple of advisories too battery insecure rear suspension arm bushes deteriorating but not resulting in excessive movement steering rack gator deteriorated fuel tank possibly leaking from top when full ?? All in all not too bad. So tonight ive took the rear caliper and abs sensor off the rear offside of the silver surfer and il put them on tomorrow morning. tighten the handbrake up so it works good enough and investigate the horn situation and all shall be good. oh yeah and put a wheel nut on Get a fresh MOT then I can start sorting the other bits.
  16. Yeah definitely ,Fingers crossed the MOT isn't too harsh, but saying that I've got the following week off anyway now to deal with any issues it might throw at me. Just counting down the days now
