Krzys
http://civic5.com/forum/index.php?/topic/80-how-tocreate-a-custom-signature-part-1/ Back by popular demand is our "How To" for creating your very own custom forum signature! Most photo editing suites will be able to do this, although the instructions/layout etc may differ from the program used here. Software used: Ulead PhotoExpress 3 (an older program (think their on 6 now!) but a very easy to use bit of software.) 1. Ok, first we need to open the program.2. Now we need to create a new photo. Click the "Photo" tab on the left hand side, then at the top of the screen, click "File" A box will appear. Click "New Photo" sig-how-to-pic-1-select-new-photo.JPG 3. A new box will appear with image properties. We need to set the image size. We use 600px X 150px in this forum, and it's usually the same size other forums use, so you can use it elsewhere too. So type in your sizes in the appropriate boxes, and click "Ok" sig-how-to-pic-2-select-new-photo-size.JPG You should now see a blank rectangle. This is our basic signature image. sig-how-to-pic-3-select-new-photo-ready-to-edit.JPG 4. Time to get busy! Lets colour our background. You can have a colour as your background, or an image. We will go for a red/black graded background here. Click on "Paint" (1) then click fill/"colour fill" (2) sig-how-to-pic-4-select-paint-then-fill.JPG 5. You can choose your gradient and colours by clicking "Gradient" on the right hand side of the screen. A box will appear with colour/gradient choices. sig-how-to-pic-4-select-paint-then-gradient.JPG 6. Choose your colours etc, then click "Apply". Your rectangle should now look like this. sig-how-to-pic-5-ready-for-text.JPG 7. Lets add some text! Click the "Text" tab(1) on the left hand side of the screen, then click the "Add/Edit Text" tab(2). A blank box will appear on the right hand side, with various drop down menus beneath it for fonts and styles etc. The blank box is where we type what we want the text to say. sig-how-to-pic-6-add-text.JPG 8. We'll type the word "CIVIC5" . We can select the colour of text by clicking on the colour palate underneath the blank box (that now contains the word CIVIC5!) When you have all the text typed, click "apply". 9. Your new text should now be visible on your signature. You can move it around to where you want it, resize it etc. sig-how-to-pic-7-text-added.JPG 10. Now we're finished, we want to save it. So click the "File" tab at the top left of the screen, and from the drop down menu, select "save as". You can save it in various formats, but the best one to use is .jpg , as this is the most commonly used format. Choose the folder you want to save it to, and give the photo a filename. Bingo, you're done! sig-how-to-pic-8-save-file.JPG We will be creating a Part 2 to this How to very soon, which will cover things like adding your car to the signature. Stay tuned!!
