Okay - good weather and a few days off meant I could roll the car out into the open! Plan for the day was to check the fuel cell, check the fit of the perspex windows and make a restart on the wiring. Removed the door locks, then stripped the central locking parts off and refitted the locks. Every little helps! Also got rid of the last of the door electrics and wiring up front Okay - fuel cell check Fits nicely, only 10l smaller than stock but it's inside the car and a damn site stronger! Up until now I've not really tried to fit the windows to the car so a quick check to see how they go in Left the seal out for now but its a good fit. Plastics4performance even painted the edges of the panels to hide the bonding! Last job was to get on with the wiring. Front near side wing first - And an hour later, all re-connected and ready to be sheathed. Hopefully it won't be as long between being able to work on the car next time!3 points

Yes mate, when the coilovers went on for example, the shocks at the back were leaking so they've gone in the bin! Just the car showing her age is all! So much better though six months in!3 points

So another pre japfest update. .I ordered a set of number plates from eBay and told the guy I don't want the gb badge or the border. For some odd reason he understood it as I want both lol. Only thing he got right was the carbon font which I asked for .. so sent him another message and he apologised and sent the proper ones like I asked. Here they are together. .I prefer the clean plates myself I also got the number plate surrounds that everyone is getting but I have gone for the different style So here is how they will look together. . Just need to put them on2 points

My box after a decent run makes a noise but it's hard to hear at the minute, think it could be the beginnings of the main shaft baring wanting changing but its still working for the time being, gearbox will hopefully get sorted with mods after my holiday!1 point
-
i had a similar noise quite a while ago got a new clutch kit fitted and they found it was not the clutch but a bearing in the gearbox, may not be the same but possible.. The good news is i have since done over 30,000 miles with the box making that horrible noise and i can report that to this day nothing has happened and she has just kept going awaiting me to replace the box...1 point

Yeah you open them and put the plate in and they lock in but I asked on tom's page how did he fit them. I think the holders need to be screwed in first and then the plates will clip on but I am not sure1 point

Krzys Those are the things that lock the plate into the holder i believe ???? Maz those clean plates look much better imo i do not like plates with the gb etc on them, makes them look untidy. Now a honda sign instead that would be cool1 point

Will do man or should i say was going to anyway !!!!!! we will sort one soon as fest is out the way mate for sure1 point

Yeah I've got sunroof on mine. Took me about half an hour to find everything that needed undoing to remove. Summary to unbolt/unscrew is: Visors. grab handles. Interior light. Plastic clips above back seats. A Pillars pull off as they are only clipped in, I cheated with B and C pillars, just pulled them enough to free the headlining but you can remove these if you want but will be more work. Sunroof surround pulls off. You'll need to pull down the door seals too! Then the headlining will come out through the tail gate. Hope that gives you a better idea mate!1 point

Love the colour choice for calipers and discs mate. Goes perfectly with the alloys. . Looking forward to seeing your decked deck at japfest1 point
-
Lol that's great if you haven't sworn at it much that means things are going well You have done most of the important updates anyways it's ok to slow down a bit now1 point
-
Yeah it's gone a bit quicker than I was expecting but it's all fun! Yeah it was stressful with the ignition! Mainly because it wasn't easy to work out the cause! Got there in the end though! Not swore too much at it since Mods will likely calm down now as need to save money for my trip at the end of September!1 point

My first car was technically my mothers car for 11 years then passed down to me but she still drove it, I put starlet GT turbo seats in it and she was so amazed that she kept asking me why I didn't do it sooner! It was funny though.. seeing my mum drive a lowered 60mm starlet with tints, JDM lights, induction kit and bucket seats to tesco.. She learnt to drive lowered cars though! My mum has always had mixed reactions to my cars.. I sold my MK4 Golf and bought a starlet GT turbo whilst she was on holiday and when she got back.. to say she wasn't happy would be an understatement. She likes the BMW though, she says I've "calmed" down.. she doesn't know I'm looking for a second car as a project muahaha...1 point
-
I used to do that but nearly every standard part I've taken off the VTi-S has had something wrong with it except the alloys, steering wheel and headlights! You'll probably find them being made redundant soon!1 point

yeh agree'd, mine is the same acctually, when i start mine i have to turn the key back really slowly, if i just let go it stops. i see it as an extra anti theft feature and its hilarious when someone asks for a shot of the car and i say if you can start it you can drive it and then watch as they get more and more confused before i lean in and start it first time1 point

Hmmm that's sound intriguing. Not going to let on them1 point
