  1. Adding to the list of responses that all say the same, but to confirm, I've put a DC2 rack in a couple of years back and it's exactly the same lock to lock. The only difference you'll get is more easily changed inner rods, but the only problem with the MB6/MC2 inner rods is that they're pretty tough to get off but not impossible. On the MG rack, yes, the mark 2 MGZS has a faster rack & everything I've seen and read suggests it goes in absolutely fine. Finding one is not easy; the mark 2's are rare & there's a ton of racks available from earlier MGs that will fit but are the same ratio as our Ms. Someone might be able to post up definite part numbers for the post-2004 mark 2 MGZS racks?? Anyways, reckon you're on the right track with alternative improvements. A fast rack on a front-engined car isn't going to help unless you've super sticky tyres or an equivalent lump of metal over the rear; the faster the steering ratio, the less precise control over the steering direction and the easier it is to oversteer, leading to lack of traction & an understeer situation in cornering. Adding stiffness with ARBs and braces is a good move. Poly'ing makes a big difference to stiffness and steering feedback, but be prepared for squeaks and suspension performance that deteriorates throughout an extended spirited drive; this is where rubber always wins & why after various tries with poly I went back to hardened rubber. Camber adjustment; definitely if dropping at all, even if only 15-20mm. And definitely, definitely get the geom sorted. I drove for months with mediocre geom, the tyre wear was awful as was the handling, even though it 'felt' better than stock was sooo much better after a proper setup.

  3. Well I've just driven her for the last time for a few weeks now and made sure I enjoyed it and saw the redline a few times. 1st and 2nd most of the way home, windows down, stereo off, massive grin on my chops!

  4. Working 12hrs ATM but will try get pics up. Problems I see are.... Oil leak Abs light Drivers door handle and wing mirror held on with tape lol (will get mb's door painted to replace it) Rear de mister not working Tail light out Apart from that it drove fine, made the 45 miles home and was comfortable. Can't wait to get stuck into in and get it all cleaned to see how it looks. It's a 99 se or es model in blue. Love how much room it has in the back

  5. Been a while since I updated this, mainly due to DD hibernating in the garage over winter. She's been to a meet this year though, her first outing being the scottish meet/run. So, had her up to RJM Performance yesterday for her MOT. Wasnt sure really how it would go, as it sometimes does more harm than good being kept of the road. But as always, and keeping up her record of never failing an MOT, she passed with flying colours! Roy was even commenting how tidy she was looking, so was a nice feeling to know shes in top condition. And how many miles has she covered in 1 year?? 700 miles! lol Have added another mod to her, will get the pics up when I get the chance. Got her a set of Clim-Air wind deflectors. Was a hassle tho, as the first set arrived smashed to a thousand bits! Second set were perfect though, and looks good with her already having the sunroof wind deflector too. Also got a bit of bling for the engine bay too, so will get that fitted and get pics up!

  6. lol none taken pal, sorry if it seemed like that the parts come from a motor factors that sell on ebay and they have a two year warranty with them im weary of ebay stuff myself so looked into them a bit before i decided to buy their ridiculously cheap calipers ive seen rebuild kits sell for a little less than the price they wanted here is a link to their website if your close to birmingham you could pop down to them http://www.carfactorsuk.co.uk/Default.aspx i would also try eurocarparts ebay shop as they have different offers on stuff their than on their site

  8. It'll be a hybrid of C4/C6. I'm told (don't quote me) that the blocks are identical between both engines, it's the pistons, rods and crank girdle that are different. I want to change the pistons and rods anyway, and I'll look at getting a C6 or the Golden Eagle/Function 7 crank girdle. Aiming for a 11.5:1 compression ratio so it'll have a bit more poke but still be a usable engine at lower revs. Block guard and a few other little bits will stop it nuking itself on track but with all the weight loss (me and the car lol) I think 200bhp with the option to dial in a bit more will be enough to put a smile on my face. I've driven 600-800bhp Supra's and they are fun but just not drivable on track. Anyway, engine is now out and with the builder I can now get in there and remove all the unwanted pipe, valves, brackets and bolts and get ready to flip the chassis to do the work underneath. All a bit manic as I keep switching from electrical to mechanical jobs but it keeps me out of trouble!

  9. Hi guys, this is the aerodeck that I picked up last night for £125 it's motd and taxed, has full leather interior and a tow bar. Bodywork is generally very good with now scuffs or rust on the arches, wee sent on passengers door and te drivers door has rust and handle has tape over it along with the wing mirror. When I went to view it it was apparent that it had a pretty bad oil leak used this to my advantage though, as under investigation I spotted it was just a hole in the oil filter, told the guy it must be a gasket and will cost a lot Plans are to take all the good bits off my mb6, brakes, hubs, wheels, exhaust etc and fit them to the deck. Il remove the door and wing mirror and front lip and get a price on getting them painted by my mates brother. All suspension components will get swapped over and eventually the engine once I rebuild it. I managed to get the oil, filter and plugs done tonight after my 12hr shift. Really really needs a clean inside and out, hope to do this at weekend. Here's some quick pics from tonight... The holy filter lol

  12. Right work won't allow personal parcel to be delivered to Work, they did say if it was one and a one off it be ok, but got bits comming from every where, so the plan is to order stuff Monday/Tuesday next week, let them drop a "failed delivery" cards through the door. And pick every thing up next Friday. As for r the exhaust, its booked in a week on Friday to replace from the cat back, going for the same style as before but with a outward rolled tip

  15. Will be interesting to know the final kerb weight once you've built her back up. Comprestion ratios is a complex area but basically the B18C6's, K20's etc etc have quite a high CR .. Turbo cars, normally stick with a lower CR becuase it allows a densor air fuel ratio ..

  16. I can imagine how high she's sat! It's better to go over the top with safety than to wish you had! I don't fully understand how the compression works/affects the way the engine works but I would much prefer to have a bit of leeway and be able to drive it to and from a track (if it's not a daily) and also there could be the odd occasion where you can't get the high octane fuel, you don't want to end up stuck somewhere because you can't bung a splash of 95 in to get you out of the sh1t!

  17. Yes, I won't be allowed to drive for 3-4 weeks, it's good motivation to exercise so I can get back to it sooner rather than later.

  18. Few weeks?! She was probably thinking you'd fallen out with her! Always feels good after a time away though! Probably be another week without mine before all the braking parts arrive/return, looking forward to getting them bedded in!

  19. x2, it usually is.

  20. It sounds ideal, once you go much over 200bhp you start needing more complex diffs etc. and with the weight loss and chassis strengthening you've done it should be quite a track weapon.

  22. Nice! Least it's not left you in the lurch just yet! Bit of time to look whilst you're still working! Boat looks good! Spent a weekend on one once, didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did! Had a Ford 1.8 diesel engine in it!

  25. Well I bought the deck for a grand total of...£125 taxed till end of June as motd till late august! It needs work doing to it but I made it home lol has a really bad oil leak but I had a quick look underneath and it looks like a hole in the oil filter. Used this to knock the money off as I said it looked like a big job lol il get a thread started over the next few days.

  29. Will post it up once it is complete as there will be a step by step guide along with it for anyone looking to do a turbo conversion (grant). We have all the bits for it now excluding the turbo downpipe and the oil and water feed lines. So far it's only cost us 750 for all the parts comprising Manifold 200sx garrett ar48 turbo Intercooler and piping kit Walbro 255lph fuel pump Wastegate and screamer pipe 550cc evo injectors Stage 2 clutch Socketed p28 ecu This all for a d15b2 should take it from 90bhp to a health 230/240bhp. More than enough for the missus to be driving round in.

  35. Thanks guys, really appreciate that and know Dawn would aswell. To update her deck project, the decission has been made on what happens to her deck now she's gone. Dawn loved her deck from day one, and even now still loves it as much. She also said numerous times that no matter what, she would never ever sell it. Even if she got herself a new car, the deck would stay with her. So I've decided that to honour Dawn, I'm getting a garage built at the house as soon as I'm back to being of normal mind (I'm in no state just now to deal with anything in life at all). Dawns deck is going into the garage, and will be kept for ever. I'm going to try my best and carry out the final mods she wanted to do to it, like the steeringwheel getting retrimmed at transcal to match the interior, and the full respray. She'd also struck a deal just before christmas on a new set of wheels for it from a close friend and civic5 member, so I'll be getting that sorted out asap too. The plan is to make her deck totally mint, as good as new. I know she didnt want to change engines or anything like that, but she wanted the current engine cleaned and then blinged. So there may well be a whole load of parts getting polished/chromed in the engine bay too. It will be a a moving tribute and legacy of Dawn. I know I had to carry out her wishes of the car staying here with me, as I honestly couldnt face seeing it go away. It would also kill me to pas it on the road with someone other than Dawn driving it. Dawn may be gone from this life, although she is still here in spirit and soul, and her deck will live on as a constant memory of her too. it will only be driven to the occasional civic5 meet or to a civic5 stand at a show, but other than that it's going to be a garage queen. R.I.P. Dawn. You and your aerodeck will live on forever, I promise.
