  1. I just watched it there again myself. Granny shifting and riding the clutch like a noob I'm still gonna blame my one handed driving whilst recording. Must do better lol
  2. I was about to suggest even a couple of handbrake turns in the pub carpark to put a smile on your face before remembering that your brakes are one of the things giving you jip lol
  3. Chin up What about taking it to a local meet and drive on some fun roads? Get some enjoyment out of it that doesn't involve commuting. I know how you feel about stopping the mods for a while though. I loved taking mine up the coast last week but I'd love it even more if I could have a couple of months of driving without things needing changed on it.
  4. I took a couple of short videos on the way home but they aren't brilliant looking as the phone is vertical and I'm just not in to driving too hard with a phone in one hand lol Sound is decent though lol
  5. Welcome. Lovely lookin MB6!
  6. Last night the Civic went back up on the ramp. I got a small flexi pipe welded in to reduce any vibration and also got the silencer welded in along with a small bracket to reduce movement. Thankfully when starting the car it still had its deep rumble at idle through the Jetex back box. Once the car was warmed up I took it down the road. The rasp is non-existent now when not in vtec, which is perfect, but its still there at 5,000-6,000rpm although not as pronounced as before, maybe because at those revs the engine is starting to scream anyways I'll reserve final judgement for the next few weeks but at the moment I'm now really happy with the set up. Meaty sound and free flowing. From the front of the car From the rear
  7. We had a bank holiday which meant a four day weekend I gave the Civic a bit of a wash and polish on Sunday before a run up the coast on Monday. The Causeway Coastal Route is a really decent road as it hugs the coastline for most of its 60 miles, so it's nice and twisty, but also great views as well. I wish I'd taken pics of the route, but I'd really recommend it for anyone who likes to travel around on driving holidays Jeremy Clarkson roadtested the Twingo 133 on it a few series ago (before driving it in to Belfast Harbour) I also reached a mighty 72,000 miles on the odometer on the way home. My new 18" centre silencer is also due to be fitted tonight. I cannot friggin wait. Hopefully bye bye rasp. Pretty basic clean car pic whoring. I really need to get the good camera out and find a decent local location as well That Top Gear road test on the coastal route for anyone who isn't bored yet by this post lol Only the first 1m 45s is worth watching anyways
  8. I feel the same as you guys. The car has got under my skin otherwise I'd have cut my losses long ago, and at least I know that I've now got a much better car underneath.
  9. I don't mind spending money on old cars tbh when it's general wear and tear items. I'm usually contented telling myself that I'm spending less on it per month than if I had a new car with higher tax and also to pay finance on (although some months I'm spending pretty close to my old monthly finance figures lol). It's discovering previous cheap/nasty/bodge fixes that do my nut in and this car had those in spades. No more buying cars from spotty yoofs. Saying that, I did proper laugh at a bodge on my old mk3 Golf. One of the rear passenger windows didn't go down and when I took the trim off to see if the regulator was broken, I discovered there was no regulator at all and the window was wedged up by some skirting board and some trim off a kitchen unit.
  10. I'm just updating this, more so I can keep track of what I've been doing to the car than anything else lol I've been running the Rainsport tyres for the past two months or so and I have to say they are a fantastic tyre, especially in the wet. I can't really lose traction with them and they inspire plenty of confidence. The only critism I have of them are that the sidewalls are a little bit soft but it's not such a big issue and I'd rather have the grip over a bit of play in the sidewall. I also got the brake and fuel lines replaced. I'd discovered soon after I'd bought the car that lines were all a bit corrosive and planned on just getting them cleaned up, but after getting the car undersealed I noticed fuel was weeping from the lines, so figured I'd get them all replaced. My mechanic told me that he couldn't get replacement fuel lines for the car so had to make them himself. A 2 day job on the ramp and he said he doesn't want to see the car ever again lol Shame he's seeing it again in a months time to get the front shocks replaced Can there be anything more on this car that needs replacing??? On one hand I still really like the car. On the other hand I know I'm stuck with it for the next while as I've spent too much on it to sell it on anytime soon. On the plus side I've a nice new 2.5" x 18" centre silencer for the car and plan on getting it fitted in the next week or two. Fingers crossed it gets rid of the rasp.
  11. I haven't really been on here much over the past month or two and really shocked to sign in and read the news about Nick. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family. I always found him to be a real gentleman on here and enjoyed reading his posts. I also loved seeing the work he was doing to his car. He'll be missed I hope all the guys here give him an amazing send-off this Thursday
  12. Yeah mint Fast Fords are def becoming more of a recognisable investment for folks these days.
  13. A Hakosuka would be a dream car, but I'd imagine a decent one would be waaaay over budget, but feel to find me one. I'd never heard of a Bluebird SSS Coupe but having just Googled it, wow! Yeah something retro would be nice!
  14. No it's all helping I'm def still thinking R32 GTR but now also contemplating a few others like an Evo 6, S15 and a minty AE86. I do have another couple of cars on my potentials list, but non-Jap and I've finally learnt now to keep chat Jap in this place
  15. I've already owned one. A 2008 GT with hardtop Amazing cars and I'll have another one at some point! Just other itches to scratch first lol This was mine
  16. Nah, never really liked them. I always prefered the Mitsubishi GTO over them as a kinda fast tourer thing. What about Supras? Anyone any experience with owning or knowing someone whos owned one?
  17. I actually nearly bought a 350Z. I went to a local Honda dealer to try and get them to find me a nice clean S2000. The dealer went away and came back 20mins later offering to sell me a car that I'd actually went to see a few days earlier at an independent dealers but for £4,000 more lol I walked out and went up the road to the Nissan dealer and nearly bought a 350Z in a stubborn huffy fit. Lots of torque but I just couldn't warm to them. They also don't have anything separating the driver from the contents of the boot which I thought was a bit odd. I don't want to brake hard and find my newly bought frozen dinners flying through the windscreen. The 370Z is still over budget. They're a nice looking car, apart from their mahoooosive plasticy backside
  18. Car booked in to replace all the fuel and brake lines. I've to wait until the 9th June though as the mechanic says it's a big job and requires the fuel tank off for the brake lines. Anyone done it before and know how much of an @rse it is to do?
  19. Yep you're right. It'd make a great daily for someone, whereas I've already got the VTI-S as my practical daily and so don't need two.
  20. Yeah I'm having a hoke online for something now. The ones on eBay look quite short. I'd need to re-measure the one that I took off the car, but from what I can gather, the longer the better. I found a poll on civiclife just there though where the majority of owners actually prefer a raspy exhaust.
  21. I know what you mean. Ideally I'd like a nice 4-2-1 manifold, sport cat, 2.5" stainless and back box, where it all flows nicely and quietly. I can imagine I'll be playing about with things for a while until I get it right. We're lucky here in Northern Ireland with cats though. Pre-2001 can go through MOT without a cat as long as they pass the emissions test.
  22. Thanks Nik. I can't see the centre pipe staying long tbh. Time to find another option.
