  1. Look well on the new wheels dude. You're only 23 though?!?! From your avatar I always thought you were Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs
  2. Car looks really well with two tone colours. lol at the 1.4 badge too. Kepp it on I'm starting to feel a bit odd-man-out though for not having Meisters these days
  3. Looks gorgeous! They look perfect on the MB6
  4. Dammit! I'd have been tempted with a cheeky deal So what is next to do?
  5. Oh def! Grey will finish them off properly Then all you'll need is to do a deal with someone on here to exchange your fanblades for an awesome Jap back box and your car will be done Pea-shooter exhaust FTL
  6. I have to admit I wasn't a fan of the wheels in white, but now it's lowered I really like it. Moving shots of it look great too
  7. Just finished reading. Wow! Some amount of work in that! I'm very jealous.
  8. Oh! I love these EGs, especially in that blue. I'm off for a read of the rest of the thread now lol
  9. That's sitting at a perfect height for me. It's really coming along rightly now.
  10. Thanks I filled it with Super last night for the first time, reset the ECU and took it out for a bit of spin. It's perfect. Through the residential areas it's pretty silent. Over 4,500rpm there's def a more pronounced growl, but over 6,000 that's where it really comes alive. Def money well spent.
  11. Wheels look great dude I'm sure its worth the time and patience spent on them. More than I think I'd have to do my own lol I'm starting to think I'd like a set seeing as I'm striking out with the 16" fanblades.
  12. Thanks lads. I'm really liking the sound of it on idle. A real meaty rumble off it now. I replaced the horn this afternoon. So glad to have removed the camp Honda horn. Whilst I was in the mood for making videos, I thought I'd make a quick one of the differences between the old horn and the new horn I also gave the 5Zigen a bit of a polish and took a few pics before I get it advertised for sale in the next couple of days.
  13. I brought the car home last night and it's quiet! Well there's a nice burble at idle, and when my friend was bringing it out of his garage it was noticably throaty. Inside the car it's pretty much silent at normal speeds. I honestly don't hear the exhaust at all, which I'm not used to with this car. I now hear lovely induction noise instead. All great But..... There's a far less pronounced changeover sound now from inside the car. Above 4,500rpm it's still pretty quiet! I know though its purely in comparison with the 5Zigen which was such an animal and gorgeous sounding in vtec. Overall though I'm very happy with it. It does exactly what I want it to, and if anything, it feels a tad torquier, especially in fourth and fifth gear. When my friend discovered that the resonated centre was collapsing in on itself I started wondering what to replace it with. With the Jetex back box being so quiet I think I'm just going to remove the centre section and replace it with a 2.5" pipe to see what it sounds like. If anything it'll improve flow and hopefully also make it a little bit more throatier. As mentioned, the tip is just a bit of 2.5" stainless steel piping, but I think it give it a more subtle OEM look. I gave it a very quick polish when I got home but need to give it a proper clean over the weekend. I've also uploaded a video of it idling and giving it a few blips. It def sounds better on the PC than it did on my phone I need to get sorted with a drive-by video soon just so I can hear myself what it goes like.
  14. I suddenly don't feel so welcome on this forum anymore
  15. Hmmm... I wonder what it would sound like with just a straight through pipe. 1.5" flow is just gay! That AWD Golf is just insane! Must be a proper handful
  16. Any thoughts on whether that silencer pipe on my car looks standard, or aftermarket? I'd hate to think its a standard Honda part with such restrictive internals. As much as I've alot of love for a mk3 Golf, I've a plan to eventually get rid of the S3 and build a mk2 GTI with a BAM engine and LSD. There is a video on Youtube of one destroying a Westfield round Brands Hatch at a track day a couple of years back, and ever since then I've wanted to get one done. Yeah too much VAG chat on this thread lol
  17. The turbo GTIs map up really well. I was also looking at V6 4-motions before I bought the VTI-S, again because nobody else likes them so they are cheap lol In the end I decided the VTI-S would be easier to sell on that an old heavy thirsty Golf.
  18. Right I've finally got round to uploading some pics of the exhaust. So the general gist is that over the years the exhaust system has had bits and bobs changed and welded to it. it seems to be a bit of a Frankenexhaust. I wanted something that looked standard but flowed better, so I bought a Jetex straight through back box as I've seen the improvements this backbox made to a Toyota 4AGE engine. When my friend had a nosey at one of the silencers the insides were streaming out lol. He was also surprised to find that the silencer reduced the pipe size down to 1.5" inside, so there is definately some restriction there. Now I know about this, I'll have to replace it as I can't be having things like that restricting flow! Any suggestions would be appreciated. My initial thoughts are to use DC2 bits? We decided though to keep it as is for now and put the backbox on, just to see how the new backbox performs noise-wise. The rest of the system will get sorted at a later date. He then sent me this pic saying it was finished and that he'd included some tasty carbon bits! This was the last pic that I got of it actually on. The backbox didn't come with a tailpipe so he has put a 2.5" piece of stainless steel on it. It's 316 medical grade steel that he'd originally used as a downpipe for his old Audi S6. I've still to see it in the flesh but I actually quite like it in the pic. It's not a fancy rolled tailpipe but I think it makes it look more like an OEM exhaust. It'll still shine up nicely with some wire wool. I can't get the video to upload so I'll try that later and also try to get some better daylight pics
  19. The mk3 8v def isn't a riveting drive lol It didn't stop me thrashing the tits off it round B roads. The non turbo mk4 Golf GTI was the real embarrassment of the family though and def not worthy of a GTI badge. I'd own a VR6 tomorrow just for the noise, but I priced insurance for one when I was looking at the VTI-S and the VR6 was £200 more lol
  20. Yep for my needs it's just too loud. To be honest, it does make me laugh when I'm out hooning the car and in vtec it sounds amazing, but I want something that looks and sounds a bit more subtle, especially below 4,500rpm without any noticable power losses. My friend got my Jetex back box on last night so I'm going to head over and collect it later. He said its now quiet enough to hear induction noise which is what I want, and more torquey than it was on the old system, which is a big statement for him as he normally hates Jap stuff lol I'm some pics that he sent me that I'll upload later.
  21. lol I think the Mk3 Golf gets an unfairly bad rep, mostly due to some bad reviews when it came out, and people who still look at a mk2 Golf through rose tinted glasses, but the 16v was a quick revvy little motor. They can be tuned quite easily too. Maybe I also just prefer it as nobody else likes them haha I ran a complete shed GTI 8V for a while that I picked up for £600 and it would probably still be running when the world ends. Geek fact: The mk3 Golf had a drag co-efficient of 0.30 compared to 0.34 of a Ferrari 360
  22. I love these. Always see a black one locally and think it's pretty cool. I really like those wheels too haha. Someone fit them on their Civic and slam it. I wanna see ridiculous camber!
  23. Correctomundo! I've picked up a mk3 Golf GTI 16v horn off a local breaking car. The VTI's sworn enemy back in the day lol
