I'm not so much of a fan of the R33, well not over an R32, although I'm sure there's a bit of old mans nostalgia and retroness included in my feelings for it. I'd also looked at FD2s as they are lovely, but they are still mental money and well over budget I need to stop spending money on the VTI-S first before this £10k car becomes more of a reality lol

I hope it'll soot up and quieten down a bit more, but I think it's just wishful thinking. Just trying to find that compromise between being quiet and quick lol

I also ordered 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres in the standard 195/55/R15 size which should be here for next weekend. Unfortunately I've also found a couple more issues with the car The two front shocks will need replacing over the coming months, but more urgently I've discovered a bit of weeping from the fuel lines so I'm also going to replace all the fuel and brake lines asap.

I was away on my stag for a few days last week so left the car down to get the underneath and arches undersealed. I'd left it with a local Jap specialist who had done some work on the Civic before. I'm very happy with the results and hopefully that'll keep her undercarriage nice for a good while I also sold my 5Zigen back box so it's away now to annoy someone elses neighbours When I had my Jetex fitted, we'd discovered that the insides of the centre baffle was coming apart as well as being very restrictive, so I bought some 2.5" exhaust pipe from a local exhaust company. Pic below are of the offending baffle in the foreground. I brought the car down to a friends last night and we removed the full system for a look. I really don't know if these are standard or aftermarket, but guessing aftermarket. Anyways, there are three baffles along the full system and all have a reduction inside the system down to just 31mm! That's 1.2" piping hidden inside a 2.5" pipe. That's bound to be restricting flow, so we decided last night that they all had to go. In the pic the inner most circle where you can see the lighter coloured baffle is just 31mm. More underseal pic whoring Whilst my friend was welding away I stole some of his eBay air feed piping for my ATR airbox. I was going to use something from the Audi parts bin, but this was free and easier to fit haha It's actually rigid enough to maintain a shape, but the wire inside can still be shaped to fit perfectly inside the air box Here was the finished franken-pipe. and the differences between the boxes removed; from 1.2" to 2.5" I knew when we were doing this that removing the baffles would def increase the noise, and at idle there is a more noticable grumble, but it's still quiet enough to not annoy neighbours. Happy days We took it down the road and the difference is night and day, especially up top in the rev ranges. Figures-wise though, I've a marker point on a straight quiet piece of road that I use for testing and the car is now 5 or 6 mph up. From an everyday point of view though it def feels more usable and responsive. I'd be very keen to get it on the rolling road in the next month or two to see the changes the air box and exhaust have made. The only downside is that over 3,000rpm there is a horrible Honda rasp ruining my happiness. We are hoping its just vibration and a replacement gasket down near the decat and tweaking some of the bolts will sort it out, otherwise I'll need to start looking for a 2.5" baffle of some sort. Grrr

If it had 39,000 miles on it now I'd be writing my classifieds advert right now for the S3 lol Has anyone been paying any attention to prices of S15s? Are they still on the decline, or does their relative rarity keep prices around the same?
-
That's when it was first imported from the looks of it. It's on 98,000 miles now from what I can tell. It does look very clean though
-
I never knew that. Still alot to learn about obscure jap stuff. That's proper sleeper material there! I've always had a bit of a weakness for S15s as well. Never seen one in grey before. I'd be looking one with lower miles though. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/200sx-silvia/nissan-silvia-s15-spec-r/2230270?isexperiment=true

I nice Tommi Makinen, although it would ideally need to be a red one for me. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mitsubishi/lancer/mitsubishi-lancer-tommi-makinen-edition-4dr-fsh-low-miles/2004416?isexperiment=true

Jeez, that's a monster engine. No doubt they can be easily mapped up as well. Nobody here would have a clue what it was lol

Oof! Twin turbo. Manual (yeah I forgot I don't want an auto lol). In budget. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Supra-Twin-Turbo-RZ-6-Speed-Manual-Fresh-Import-Superb-Car-/271469658290?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f34da40b2

I do like that alot, but perhaps a bit too subtle looking. Are they big auto buses?

Yeah i think it'd be strange too. Golf Rallyes are awesome looking though. I'd still think about a fast mk1 or mk2 Golf, but I'm not really sure if they could really compare to an R32, P1, Evo 6 or Supra. I'd buy one tomorrow if they were £10,000 AE86s have a real following here. Some real nice restored ones about, and they are on my list, although maybe a bit further down. Evo 6 - YES! Supra - Another possibility

RHD - Right Hand Drive I had started thinking of something V8 and Yank but couldn't live with steering wheel on the wrong side
-
I do love RX-7s but scare stories about the engines always frighten the beejesus outta me, whether justified or not lol A P1 is a nice idea. It'd be a possible good investment too.

I'm thinking about selling my S3 this summer and put some money towards something a bit more exciting, so I figured I'd put it out there for some help. If you had £10,000 and you could only spend it on a car, what would you get? My own requirements would be: - something exciting - something good looking - something fast, or at least noisy enough to make me feel like I'm going fast - a bit rare/oddball - RHD only - preferably something a bit retro - it's gotta be coooool! - Edited to include manual gearbox All pretty subjective requirements I guess lol I don't care about mpg as I'll still be running the VTI-S as my daily, but it would be nice to have semi-reasonable running costs......saying that, I'm looking at R32 GTRs as a current potential replacement, although a nice once might now be over my budget So tell me what you'd buy as I'm looking inspiration

Tyres - advice/experience/recommendations

Bumping this one. I've currently 195/55/15s on the front and 195/50/15s on the rears. The car is sitting at standard height and there's def a more noticeable arch gap at the rear. I really need to replace the fronts but might as well replace them all. My current preference is 195/55 as the car is standard height, but, I can't deny the saving from 195/50 is tempting. At the same time I've also been reading guys on the DC2 and EK9 forums running 205/50s. Has anyone here ran 205/50/15s on their 15" wheels? -
Haha maybe it's just my phone. Yeah the S3 has a lovely chrome surround on the grill too. Must have been a popular period feature on a few decent cars back in those days

I used to love SRP with a couple of layers of Extra Gloss on top, before I bought my DA. Now I use Meguiars 105 to cut and 205 to polish with a good wax on top but it takes forever to get the car done and I only had a couple of hours to work on the car. I doubt I'll use that Ultra Deep Shine stuff again, unless it's just to fire over the missus' car to use the bottle up lol There are currently 195/50s on the back of my car and 195/55s on the front. I want to replace them all as it's doing my OCD in. Do the 50s not overspeed the speedo?
-
Thanks Where can you see another car in the reflection? lol You've some eyesight or more than likely I've terrible eyesight and just can't see it! My garage is behind the Civic in the pic so if you see a car it'll be my S3

I hope everyone's enjoying the Easter weekend The good weather meant I was able to spend a bit more time cleaning the Civic. I gave the engine a bit of a clean but the rocker cover is still letting the side down so no pics. I connected up a makeshift cold air feed from just beside the radiator in to the air box though so going to test it out. I also had a bottle of Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine that my brother got me for my birthday a while back so I thought I'd test it out. It does bring it out in a nice shine, but it doesn't fill like Super Poly Resin, which I sorta hoped it would. Next time I'll just go back to using my proper cutting polish and DA to correct the scrapes rather than try and hide them. Tomorrow I'm going out to try and find some new tyres for it. I'd initially considered a set of Bridgestone Potenzas as that's what originally came on the car, but I figure tyre technology has come on so far I might as well go for something a bit newer. I know quite a few competitive autotest lads swear that Uniroyal Rainsport 3s are some of the best tyres out there for the money at the minute, so I might just give them a go if I can find a good deal. It's just a shame the 195/55s are around £20 dearer than 195/50s The car is also booked in too get undersealed this week when I'm away for a few days. Oh and I've reduced the price of my 5Zigen if anyone wants to check out the classifieds

Thanks dude

Look well on the new wheels dude. You're only 23 though?!?! From your avatar I always thought you were Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs
