  1. Cheers guys. It kinda burned oil and smoked willy nilly lol more so when in vtec but on the way back from the scottish meet I was giving it a bit of beans and it's just started running like a bag of spanners the rest of the valve musta shot out the exhaust lol
  2. Thanks for the positive feedback guys! I do get a sense of satisfaction when doing work like this, especially when it works afterwards lol I couldn't imagine what a garage would charge for doing this? Got the head off today in the lowly sunshine. Clear to see what the problem was.... It seems to be just the one exhaust valve that's damaged. Pistons look good and iv managed to give the tops of them a clean. Will get the head stripped, cleaned, skimmed, new stem seals and valve then a pressure test. Will be dropping it off at work this week. Made myself feel a bit better by polishing my bike
  3. The strip down has started....been managing an hour or so most nights. Hoping to have cylinder head off by weekend so I can get it into my work for them to work their magic. Some pics iv taken so far...
  4. Really like this car! Loved the stance at the meet, looked really good in my rear view mirror lol great choice of wheels aswell.
  5. I'd hope so! Was jealous of everyone else's car not smoking haha
  6. Haha cheers guys! Old girl cleans up ok. Yes the burning oil saga has come to light now lol the head will be removed and I'm going to talk to the guys at work about a slight skim, new stem seals, replace the worn valve/s/guides, pressure test and chemical clean. I'll have to then replace the head gasket, timing belt and water pump, head bolts, oil and filter etc. whilst the heads off ill service the pcv valve and give everything a good clean/de grease. I'll also get the opertunity to fit the new alternator belt iv had sitting in the boot for months lol don't think il be wanting to sell it after all this work, she'll hopefully be a keeper.
  7. Just spoke with a friend and he thinks iv maybe burnt a valve or valve guide. Sooo think I'm going to have to take the head off and get it stripped and rebuilt. Just need to price parts up. Do the b18s used head bolts or studs? Cheers
  8. Well maybe a change of plan.... My car had been burning a bit of oil and blowing blue smoke. Borrowed a compression tester from work. I got just over 150psi on no1,3,4 and 0psi on no2 I'm thinking it must mean piston ring has gone?? So need to work out costs. My work rebuild cylinder heads and blocks so that should keep some costs down, but I'd need to get headgasket, timing belt, rings and so on. Might be cheaper buying another M as iv noticed some vti decks on gumtree local to me. Tis a sad day Plus side is that the suns out so il tax my bike and start using that and the missus will just have to use the fiesta beater.
  9. Done a wee bit fault finding on my lunch break. Believe that it's no2 spark plug that's the problem. Disconnected the leads whilst running a no2 made no difference, also sprayed water on the exhaust manifold and no2 was cooler. Will get some plugs after work and think il maybe order leads too. Where are folk getting their magnecore leads from? Sure I seen a link to a site with a good deal. Cheers
  10. Hi guys, was having a spirited drive in my mb6, and whilst overtaking it suddenly started to sound different an start missfiring. I pulled over and the idle is hunting, nearly cutting out and then rising to normal idle, it's not constantly doing this. When you rev it or drive away it sounds like it's not running on all cylinders. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions? Was running great all day prior to this. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers
  11. Hi folks, iv noticed my mb6 has started using a fair amount of oil recently iv read it can be worn piston rings, valve stem seals but have also read tht a blocked pcv valve can cause oil consumption. I'd like to clean and inspect the valve an was wondering if anyone has done one before? What's involved? Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm going to try get hold of a compression tester to see how compression is. Valve stem seals don't seem to expensive and I'd rather try and avoid having to take the head off so want to try the basics first. Cheers
  12. HI guys, nice to read about others experiences I thoroughly enjoyed mine! from being purposefully pushed faster and flung into slides, to the awesome noise from the gearbox and constant popping from the exhaust! here are some pictures that were taking on the day!
  13. Hi guys, was wondering how many folk have had ago at a driving experience? Today iv just done my first ever experience came all the way down to silverstone (from Edinburgh) todo the fiesta st rally experience. Have to say it's the best fun iv ever had in a car! They sound insane, hydraulic handbrake full roll cage, the works! Watched some pretty cool cars going round the main track too! We're making a weekend of it and spendin the rest of the weekend down here before heading back the 340 miles home.
  14. Love this mate, sits so well! What size tyres you running?you get much rubbing? Keep up the good work
  15. Thanks guys! Just need a nice stainless manifold I stumbled across this itr airbox on the ek9 forum for a good price so just snapped it up! Not essential but nice to have lol
  16. Iv actually not done one since getting the car need to find time and do it.

My work what are you needing?could you make a drawing? If so then I could probably knock it up for you.
  20. With both my civic and accord iv just supplied a back box and had CAS mod it to fit and make up a b pipe to suite
  21. Hi mate. Complete auto solutions are in shotts! Sure billy has a web site and is also on Facebook. There is a company in fife called pipe dynamics, iv liked their page on Facebook and they seem to knock up good systems!
  22. Hopefully box will sort you out. I had a problem with my rear coilovers knocking on my accord and after having them on the car for 9 months from new they still took them back, inspected and replaced them. Hope you get it sorted.
  23. I haven't actually got round to fitting these and wasn't too sure what all needed to be done. Just tried to guess from your pics lol so the bracket that's welded on the shock that holds the brake pipe has to come off? I thought that just cutting the fork would allow the shock to sit 10mm lower as that bracket sits on the fork? Would the shock not just fall right through the fork? Your input would be much appreciated
  24. Managed to mod my front forks. Shot blasted them and gave them a lick of paint. Also had a bit of spare time so turned down some wheel spacers for a friend. Might be buying his manifold of him once he sources a new one.
