  1. That's cool mate thanks. I'm pretty happy with most of the mechanical stuff now. Next big job will be roll Cage later in the year. Once that's done the interior needs painting and all the safety equipment fitted. Ha thanks. I have no idea how fast it is yet as it's not been above 4000rpm yet. Even at that low in the revs it feels faster though, I think cam gears and flywheel must have helped as they were both a lot lighter. You can feel the engine pic up faster
  2. That looks like it fits really well. I got an mg zs 180 spoiler and it wasn't even close to fitting.
  3. Everything is back together and working great now. Just have to wear in the gearbox and clutch for 500 miles. That's probably been the hardest part, no vtec and driving like my gran till the 500 is up. Even without driving over 4000 rpm the car feels fast. The weight saving and short final drive has made a huge difference, the box is now shorter than an s80 so can't wait to see how it pulls when I can finally get into vtec again.
  4. Cam cover off for waterpump, cambelt and cam gear change. It is a bit dirty looking in there, sort of yellow coloured. Not sure if that's normal or not. Engine oil is bit old but clean but hopefully an oil change will sort it out. Sump needs to come off as it's leaking and iv got some baffles to weld in aswell so it will be changed then. While wheel was off to get to the crank pully I noticed how covered in brake dust it was so tried out some dragons breth on it. It was filthy
  5. Gearbox, suspension and brakes going back on. Arches have been Undersealed too. Also fitted 500hp rated insane shafts
  6. Powdercoated and poly bushed parts to go back on. Sub frame and front bumper bar coated aswell. Forgot to take pics of the finished coats but you can see it's now gloss black instead of primer and white upto the arches. Also parts to go in gearbox.
  7. Undersealed inside of the wings as the arch linings have been cut about to clear tyres.
  8. New mounts, very hard so means I can remove the two torque mounts. Lot of vibrations though.
  9. Old clutch was on last legs. New comp clutch and flywheel on and started puting back some of the powdercoated parts.
  10. Pile of bits to clean and paint More rusted sort out
  11. In the air ready for gearbox and suspension out.
  12. Polycarbonate windows being fitted. The fronts came ready made but I made the rears as I wanted to remove all the glass.
  13. New wing mirrors and made a new base out of 3mm alley. Then painted black.
  14. Strong flex bushes Polished up the rad and had to make a little bracket for the fan Short shifter with little extention and a skateboard wheel made a nice light knob.
  15. New door cards 3 mm foamex fixed with stainless screws. Thick wire attached to lock and and old fabric belt as a door handle. It bends into shape nicely with a bit of heat.
  16. Ok so it's been few years since I updated this so thought it was about time I did it. Progress on the car has been slow but steady. Still need my race license and still need a trailer but the cars is a little bit closer. Had a house move to complete different part of the country and 2 kids since last update so that's why things have been slow. Plus another project car. I do at least have a nice garage to work in now. So think best way to update is just to make a list of things that's been done and pictures galore. Striped off all the suspension and refurbished, powdercoated and strong flex polybushed. Striped out lots more weight. Made some new wing mirrors. Polycarbonate windows. High spec big brake kit, 6pot calipers and 335mm floating rotors. Branded lines all round. Grooved disks and ebc blue pads. Made new door cards to cover the big hole left by cutting out the inside door skin. Oil temp, oil pressure and water temp gauges. Ricky Evans Motorsport heated windowsrceen. (not wired up yet) Jap speed 4-1 manifold, standard cat, toyo sport 2 1/2 inch cat back system. All the aero removed as it's not Motorsport compliant anyway. Aero catches on bonnet and standard latch removed. New cam cover in white with an10 fitting ready for breather setup. AEM adjustable cam gears. New waterpump and cambelt. Comp clutch lightened flywheel and stage 2 clutch. Gearbox rebuild using carbon synchro kit from synchro tech, bearings and seals, and Mfactory 4.9 final drive.(makes it very short) Innovative engine mounts. Resprayed some of the bay while gearbox was out and underseal as much as I could. Now picture time!
  17. KiNK43 when you fitted that sandwich plate did you have to get a smaller filter or did it clear the angled ports?
  18. Glad to hear you sorted it mate. To be honest I never got round to fitting my cooler. I have all the parts waiting to go on but a gearbox rebuild and suspension restoration took priority. Iv still not decided how to install my plate yet. Iv found some hydrilic fittings that are very small with a tight elbow so they may fit where the normal fittings won't. That way I can use my mocal plate. That or I'm going to get the one KiNK43 recommend as that looks like a tidier install. I wouldn't risk the stacked plates on my car as it's a track car with solid engine mounts so it would need to withstand a lot of vibrations and stress. Iv also got my oil temp and pressure gauges plumbed in at separate locations so won't need to tap the plate for them. When I finally get round to doing it I'll let you know what I did.
  19. When I removed mine the holes were quite small so just put rubber grommets in them. Looked a bit odd but knew the car would eventually be painted. Only way to get rid completely is weld them up and paint the boot. So don't fit it if your not 100% sure. In fact it might be cheaper to find a boot off a scrap car that didn't have a spoiler the same colour and swap them. Might cost 100 for a whole boot but 300 for welding and respray.
