NIKH25
How much of a drop, right out of vtec. Mind, you're probably going quickly enough by then anyway.
dr_broon
out of iabs, but still in vtec..will double check on the m factory gear calculator...
NIKH25
Not the end of the world then, as I said you'll be going plenty quick by then anyway, most opponents should have been dealt with.
dr_broon
gear ratios from the team m factory gear calculator... left are standard taken from the cars.homenetcs site, and right are what I've got. and the graphs showing the ratios... red lines are s9b and blue is mine. according to this, at 110, the change from 4th to 5th would be a drop from 8300rpm to around 5300rpm. Krzys
That's not too bad then! Not much worse than 1st - 2nd on the standard setup! Could always get a VTEC controller if it can control the IABS?

NIKH25
5th looks good but 2nd 3rd and 4th look a little disappointing , also why are the shift points so low in that first chart.

dr_broon
2nd - 4th have all effectively been shortened by the s80 final drive (improving acceleration), and the longer 5th is better for cruising.sure about the change points.. I wondered about that myself. I think that it's assumed that it's the best time to change gear for maximising power and torque, and improving acceleration Thing is though it doesn't know what engine it is, and obviously we'd take it up to the red line pretty much. reckon that iabs opening around 5-5.5k would be ideal to still get decent economy on day to day driving, but give you more uumph when you need it. Krzys
Yeah that would be ideal, even if it was on the stock gearbox! Though the only way I can think of getting around it is either do what Kenny_tmt has done and machine the standard inlet or find a way to keep them open all the time?
