Right i'm basically having a full moan so i can feel better! GRAB A CUPPA AND READ THIS....

Moan #1

My n/s/r caliper was siezed slightly as when under further inspection found the piston boot to have popped out again causing water ingress into the piston area. This is the second time i have fixed this so decided to buy a reconditoned one so that i have piece of mind when roadtrips and track time start later in summer!

Anyway, ordered a caliper from euro car parts and took in an old caliper that i had lying around my hut as the old unit/surcharge.

Fitted caliper but could not get a decent pedal. Bled the fecker 4 times and then bled all the brakes 'just in case'! Same result, a pedal that was poor and death if i had to stop quickly. I managed to free off my old caliper and had a decent pedal again. Points to the new caliper being faulty...which after swopping over and getting another new one, it turned out the new caliper was indeed faulty!

Moan #2

I'm also having a nightmare setting up my suspension to stop scrubbing etc. On the -30mm Eibach springs and mgzs shocks the car didnt scrub over jumps or hard cornering but did scrub on slow full lock (due to wider tyres than factory). Because i have fitted coilovers i needed the geo sorted and to stop the scrubbing i now had. Here is the long story

I first booked the car in to get a full geometry at a garage my pal works for who specialise in Hondas, they noticed that a steering end was seized so i asked them to replace that asap so the car can be set up properly. Re-booked for the following week to get that done. Got car back and it was scrubbed like mad. I was advise to raise it 10mm to stop problem. So raised car and re-booked  to get steering end fitted and a free geo setup. I went to collect the car but it wasn't ready. End was fitted but geo was not done. Waited over an hour for that only for the guy to come and ask me how i want the car set up...i said a 'fast road setup' and no scrubbing. He basically body swerved any responsibility and asked ME to determine camber on all corners! Wtf? It was valentines night and also my dads birthday so had to make choices up quickly and go.

I left the place and noticed the car still scrubbed on front (at least rears were fixed..no wonder at -2 camber eh?)

Decided there and then to take it to my usual guy that owns Progrip in Falkirk. I took the car down to get advice before booking in and he looked at my car and measured ride height and noticed straight away that my n/s/f had settled more and was -8mm lower than the rest. That would have been impossible to correctly set up the car and he said they should have checked ride height first before starting any geo setup. Re-booked to get car done but it was a two week wait. All this time my car has been scrubbing on corners and handling like s**t. Raised the car another 5mm as advised and waiting for appointment.

Finally got car in this week and he set it up great BUT the front and rear scrub again. Nae wonder i'm going feckin bald with all this hassle. He did advise me to either raise it further or get rear arches rolled and front inner plastic cut back! Feck this!

I will cut front inner plastic away slightly as the scrubbing is rare. I have ordered a baseball bat from ebay (no seriously) to roll the rear arched myself. I looked up youtube and found that rather than buying rolling equipment people use a baseball bat and heat gun to roll the arches. There is a walk through on youtube and it looks simple. If it goes wrong then i would have needed my arches done anyway!

Why don't i just raise the car i hear you ask? Because i'm a stubborn fecker and wont be defeated as i like the 'stance' i now have!

Phew, my fingers hurt!!!

Bloody hell mate thats some aggro you've had there!

Least your stance is good, now to master the art of arch rolling lol! Good luck mate! :)

It does get a bit disheartening when things constantly don't go your way. It can take the shine out of modifying. But then once everything is all sorted you soon forget....and the whole process starts again! :)

Bit of a saga there mate!

Annoys me when "professional" establishments can't do their jobs right first time! Especially being as it's what they do day in, day out!!

Interested to see how it goes with the bat! If it's the arch liners scrubbing I'd leave them until you've done the rolling first, they may end up out of the way enough before you start cutting them?

Really frustrating mate, you should be able to go and get the geo set up with an idea of how you want it to look and they should be able to tell you how it can be achieved and then go about doing it otherwise why are you paying them?

The wheels are 7x16 aren't they? Are you running spacers? If not what offset are the wheels? From looking at the pics on the previous page yours looks a bit lower than mine at the rear but about the same on the front and I get no scrubbing at all.

Hope you get this sorted.
