  1. Once I'm able to, will be adding a Civic5 sticker to the window. I've decided that I wont be doing the MG front end swap now. I'm happy with the way the car is and other than a new exhaust (to stop scraping) that'll be everything. Other than making sure she's running at top health and such. The reason for that is I've finally bought one of my dream cars after 9 years, and will be working on that for a while. (but don't worry, I'm keeping the 'Deck! )

  4. I'd be looking at grinding your front fork down for 10-15mm. I think your heading for a car that handles very peculiarly with all these mixed springs and shocks. So if it's all good at the minute. Mod the fork!

  10. Neighbour text me saying he's bringing a snap on impact gun back today so will give it a bash when I get home! An impact gun is something I should invest in as they do safe time and hassle.

  11. Treat yourself. My impact gun was 65 quid. It's a Clarke one from machine mart. It's awesome 550nm I think. That crank bolt will come out like it was only in hand tight!!

  21. The cover looks cool, liking that a lot! When I'm working on customers cars with the rocker cover removed, its quite surprising looking at the camshafts and springs bone dry. It depends how long the car has stood I guess

  22. cam cover looks great mate! What did you use to paint it!?! Don't think there's supposed to be any more oil than that in there chap.

  24. The dream car may seem odd, and not top of every 20 year old's list...the Suzuki Cappuccino: Get it picked up tomorrow as well as put threw its MOT where it should(hopefully) just fail on the rusted sills, and then have it by Friday once that's been sorted. I've had a thing for these for about 8/9 years, and become a kind of obsession over that time.I wont post too much here as this is for 'Wolf' though. So may add a thread in the other projects part soon.

  28. I've always worked on the assumption that as im not a full time mechanic, i dont need the best tools .. Ie snap on. As great as they are, i could never justify their prices. Where as i agree with Jake, for most of us that tinker, the other end of the spectrum does just fine

  29. Another pic from my friend. It was taken when we got home from a 600 mile drive to hungary and back, which was also my first test ride after all this work done here. I didn't even had a chance to drive up and down the driveway.

  40. Well, Paul and I started to do the rear brakes on Ruby today. Would love to say it all went well, but it didn't Handbrake cable braket was an absolute nightmare to get off, with the two bolts that hold it to the caliper totally rusted solid. Took us ages to heat them up and try and get them undone, but we got there eventually. Then the little pin that holds the handbrake cable to the mechanisim wouldnt come out, again, well siezed. So more time wasted trying to get that off too. Then when we went to fit the new caliper, the bloody thing wouldn't clear the new read brake pads, so after much effing and blinding, we finally got it on. Then the two bolts that gave us so much grief at the start on the handbrake cable braket, well, the holes wouldnt line up with the new calipers holes.!!!! Spent ages trying to get that to line up, which id did eventually, but cost us so much time with all these snags that we only got the drivers side replaced! So got to go through it all again tomorrow to get the passenger side off and the new one fitted with new pads. All the rear pads were shot, with hardly any meat left on them at all. And the old calipers, with Ruby sitting just a short space of time, were siezing up big time, really binding. So glad to get them off the car! Should finish the job tomorrow, then will take her out to give the brakes a good test, see how they bed in. Will be glad to have no more binding rear brakes!! Massive thanks to Paul again for getting stuck in and getting this done. Would have spat the dummy out myself a lot earlier had he not been there! I just don't seem to have the patience, nor the hands i used to have (bloody artheritis at my age! wtf???), for working on cars. And apologies to my babe Gayle for being late coming down to yours

  43. I always reference Tom's car in these situations as it's lowered on MGZS with 10mm lower front forks, 205/40/17 tyres and a slight arch roll. It sits very nicely and is stuffed to the brim on a regular basis.
