  1. Well, time for Ruby's project thread to come to an end. John and Ali have just left, and it was emotional watching both the mb6's go off into the distance. Did a wee video on my phone as a wee keep sake. Know she's in really good hands though, could see it in Johns face how much he adores her, so I'm glad he bought her. And he's deffo signing up to the forum (once Ali shows him how! lol) and will be keeping you all updated on her new life. She is deffo going to be looked after, which is what i wanted. So, to finish her current thread, the last couple of photos of Ruby. Love ya old girl! x THE END (and new beginning)

  2. Class write up Dave! Shame you had 'bit' regarding the Clarkson review! hahahaha swim past and dont take the bait! John looked after his type r with passion! All honda parts and had spent £800 on tyres weeks before he traded it in! No expense will be spared with Ruby either. The minute i sent him the pictures of Ruby for sale my phone rang. He knew that i loved my car so knew Ruby was going to be his from then on. I will encourage him to go to the meets but you will defo see her on camera/pictures in the future. John and I understand that it IS hard to let a car go. People think of cars as just metal, we see them as memories and all the effort put into them. John understands what it's like to loose something that means so much (in car terms). So rest assured he will look after Ruby and keep her in tip top shape..using Honda parts and with the attention to detail he shared with his ATR.

  3. Clarkson, as much as I like him, is a complete muppet when it comes to reviewing cars we can actually afford! lol He totally slated the FN2, remember seeing it and thinking "what a tool!" We did a 353 mile round trip in Roxy last week. Was absolutely brilliant on a long run, with a mix of motorways, A-roads and B-roads. Although the suspension is stiff, she was still totally comfortable all the way. Handling wise, I've thrown her about quite a bit (all in the quest to get to know the car your honour!) and she's pretty much planted through the twisties. I'm not totally used to her yet, still learning her absolute limits, so not got the confidence I have with Ruby. But then I've been driving M's for over 10 years so know how they handle inside out. I'd love to know what tyres they were both running in clarksons video, as the FN2 comes with bridgestones as standard and i feel they are total crap! Bet that EP3 isnt on crappy bridgestones! lol The EP3 rear set up is obviously better though, Honda shouldnt have changed it. But the FN2's still a planted car on the road, so I'd say not that much in it tbh. Just been out in the garage tending to Ruby. She went for her MOT today....................and passed with flying colours yet again. Not even one advisory! She's always done me proud, and makes me think I must be a numpty letting her go! Got her boot loaded up with her original suspension, airbox and a few other bits n bobs. Noticed the interior light bulb had gone, so replaced that. Felt wierd sitting behind the wheel for probably the very last time Tomorrows gonna be a pretty emotional day I think. She's been such a big part of my life, and still makes me smile every time I drive her. But the times right for me now, and I know that this time around, she is deffo going to the right new owner. John's totally smitten with her, and with his background I know she's going to be pampered and looked after, as well as driven the way she enjoys! So will make it a bit easier to say farewell to her. Conditions of sale are in place though! John has to sign up here so we can follow her in her new life, and I want to see her at as many meets/events as he can manage! One final wee touch..........................found a couple of Civic5 keyrings so have put them on her keys

  7. I used plain old blue print blanks on my EK (b18c4 with mb6 front hubs) with hawk hp+ pads and it was awesome. They were about £150 for the pair. Only thing worth considering mate is 1. Obv the MB's added weight and 2. Your breaking style. Are you allowing warming up and cooling down? Can be a common cause for cracking. And maybe look at some brake ducts to allowing additional cooling?

  11. Jobs a gooden ya dingle berries! Well so far so good didn't thrash it but it selects all gears with minimal fuss or funny noises. Woop woop!! Please let me advise people gearbox swap on your own on axle stands is hard work. Insanely difficult trying to lift new box in. I'm in pain. Whilst it was on stands fitted the nissin super street pads too. Again not had a chance to really try them but should be better than smelly mintex.

  12. After being inspired by mikefotos double din install I thought I might as well have a go myself. So after contemplating Chinese or branded, I set for a kenwood sat nav system. I only have the one picture at the moment but will upload more once finished tomorrow. Thanks for all the comments guys really appreciate it

  13. Sounds pretty nice mate! Quite loud but i dont think you can appreciate it very well in a vid ! Did you get the shaft sorted too? In terms of real work speed, theres not a lot in it between the MB/MC & EP3 i dont think .. The shorter box has its advantages and disadvantages .. IE coming off a round about in 2nd in the ep your already at 6k and right on vtec .. Where as with the s9b your futher down and have to wait .. But at the same time, the EP will change sooner on the straight allowing the mb/mc to catch back up .. I highly doubt there would be a lot in it with comparative drivers and a track

  15. Looks nice mate. I didn't think i would like mine as much as my MB6 but after a few weeks i don't miss it. I like the fact you can drive this like a granny and its happy or drive like a loon! I couldn't drive my MB6 slow easily for some reason. I keep toying with the idea of changing the headlights for facelifts but cant be arsed with the wiring so may get some 4300k HIDs and see what they are like. Talking of headlights get some silvatec bulbs to replace the massive and horrible indicators bulbs such an improvement!

  18. Cars are people too in my eyes! As far as Clarkson goes I think the points he was making were that Honda made the FN2 heavier and not handle as well as the EP3 on the limits and also did nothing about the power as both have the same, well the FN2 has a whole horsepower more! But I'm sure on the handling side unless you're on the track or being very very naughty you probably won't notice! I think the ride comfort will be down to the wheels and tyres as the EP3 has 17" as standard and the FN2 has 18" I think? So smaller profiles and less give on the bumps. But I wouldn't take it to heart as it's still a very capable car! I am looking forward to Ruby's continuted love and progress! Also be good to see her being used properly in your videos Al!

  19. My mate John has just text me saying "one more sleep" before he gets Ruby. I'm finishing my shift at 7.30am, picking John up at 8am from Glasgow then head to Dave's in over an hour. Long morning for me but worth it as it's good to see John lusting after a Honda again. I'm sure Ruby will be featured in many of my roadtrip videos as we both like spirited driving and enjoying our cars!

  21. Quick update, Since fitting the lip kit my exhaust has been sat a bit too close to the lip and a little hidden. So went down to see the guy that built it for me and he gave me an extra inch Sits much better now - Hopefully fitting the inlet manifold this afternoon so should have another update very soon

  24. Well it looks like it will be going in for a engine swap and all belts done. Only going for a d16 but gives me a bit more poke. Few other things probably. Took a trip over to Anthony (not sure on his username!) headlight chrome is now Matt black and the lenses are crystal clear and no more orange!
