  2. Been a long time since I've done anything significant on the MB2 worth posting about! I ended up buying my first house last year and so quickly found another new way to spend time keeping busy, then obviously Covid hit this year and wrote that off! The car now gets used a bit less and also spends most of its time in the garage. As I posted in a different area the Civic is in need of a fair bit of welding this time round to pass the MOT, pretty gutting to see the sills in such a state, 18 months ago I had a patch welded to pass the MOT and the rest of the sills seemed to be okay. This time is a different story though and they're going to need a fair bit of work as well as the rear arches. There's no wonder so many of these are getting scrapped now! However after making decisions the past few days and some discussions I've decided that I'll be trying to get it repaired and keeping it on the road! So fingers crossed it's possible to get it sorted!

  3. Yes, even the youngest Civic M's are 20 years old now, so all are getting on a bit. It's heartbreaking when you find the rust, but (especially recently) seeing them being repaired in the forum like they have been recently and seeing the rust cut out and replaced by shiney new metal is inspiring. To think, when we started Civic5, these cars were the butt of the honda communities jokes, and not many folk were interested in them. Now they're being lovingly restored as they reach modern classic status. Good luck with the welding mate, another one i'm looking forward to watching being brought back to life.

  4. Unfortunately the second pic is one of the holes from the lower sill, it's like this on both sides as well and quite long, so basically need the sill recreating as opposed to a patch maybe?

  7. Deffo a sign of the times. Think that anyone with sills in good nick should be filling them with waxoil or something and protecting the outside.

  8. The first garage that I had working on mine were (apparently) able to get some replacement chassis rails (just didn't weld them to good metal.....) but whether they were car specific or not I wouldn't know. Although from the pics yours seem okay? Just the outer sill is gone?

  9. That sucks Is it just the front that's wet? Do I remember that the sunroof drain runs that way, or is it the passenger side?

  11. Last time I checked on rimmerbros.com they didn't have the sills advertised, but might be worth giving them a call to double check.

  14. Everyone, IT WORKS! Haha awesome moment when I plug the connectors, put the Ignition on the ON position and adjust the mirrors flawlessly! So, to clarify: This is the connector of the old mirrors: This is the connector of the new mirrors: You see that the new one has 2 more black cables. Those are indeed for the heating element, which my car doesn't support and it's confirmed because this is the connector: As you can see, it only has 3 contact pins, so the 2 black cables of the new mirrors simply don't connect, while the others one do and work perfectly. And now I have a new driver-side mirror :D IMPORTANT: the mirror is the same size as the old one and fits perfectly and the screw holes align perfect with the car holes BUT you need to get thicker screws. The old ones can't screw into the new mirror holes because they're slim so I had to go and buy 3 thicker screws. It was the only thing that wasn't compatible. I bought them on Autodoc and they sometimes make compatibility information mistakes. They're website is saying these mirrors aren't compatible with my car while some other that are simply the same and cost more are. Don't get fooled, always try to find the OEN number for your parts and see if you can find cheaper. Thanks a lot for all the support.

  16. Sooo, it finally happened! DD has sprung a leak! Went out and washed her today as she was filthy, and then jumped in to hear Squelching. Thought this can't be good. Drivers side footwell completely soaking, carpet and mats dripping wet. Gutted! I removed all the trim and got the carpets pulled back and the drain bung removed. Was one hell of a puddle under the carpet. Had to wring the carpet/underlay out to get the water out, was absolutley soaking. Fired her up, heaters of full whack to the floor and also got my heat gun in to get her dried out. Took ages but shes near enough dry now. Got no idea where its getting in though Gayle and me are gonna investigate further once shes home, see if we can pin point it. I'm almost certain it'll be the windscreen around the bulkhead, the bonding eventually breaks down on them and stops forming a seal. Will need to strip out all the scuttle panel trim and wipers etc to get a good look. Don't think its the usual place at the top of the windscreen these normally go at as the roof lining is all nice and dry. The good news is the floor under the carpets is like brand new, still got factory still in her original blue so hopefully can nip this in the bud before it causes any damage. Did notice the past week whilst she was parked up that the windows were all steamed up so this is obviously the cause. Downside is I dont yet have a garage that I can work in and we're getting really crap weather here so not looking forward to working on her out doors
