Well, after not being able to torque them up properly in the first place for fear of chewing them up, and then being off and on a couple of times, I've had to replace the wee bolts that come with the skunk2 low profile fitting kit with these, because my mech obviously couldn't tighten them up after getting them loose last time.

The replacements don't fit into the washers properly, but at least they can be tightened up.

New one at top...chewed one at bottom.  That's not the worst one either.

where were these from? the rocker cover?

also where did you get the kit from?

Yeah, for the rocker cover. Can't remember where I got them from now , but they never felt like the key was a good fit, was too much play so they were never going to be able to be tightened properly. These new ones were £1.30 Inc delivery or something from eBay for 10... They feel much better.

Rocker cover fitted with skunk 2 low profile jobbies. Also some vtec solenoid washer stud things.

Not sure that they are genuine skunk2 though... The hex heads started chewing before they torqued up fully.

Also had a failed attempt at ffitting some silicon hoses that I've had for ages. Turns out that they are wrong and didn't fit... So basically wasted loads of time swapping coolant :(

Only had time to Polish and wax the bonnet (felt like it needed it the most)

Looking good mate!

Shame about the hoses!

My low profile kit is exactly the same. I'm going to try screwfix and get some stainless jobbies to replace them.

The fender washers that I've got have been no probs, just the rocker cover kit. Totally different quality and fit. I got some decent allen keys for my bike and even they were loose on them.

Anyway, the new ones are nice and tight.. And that's always nice ;)

Think I fitted the Password JDM ones to Ruby's rocker cover and they were no probs at all mate. All torqued up fine with no signs of rounding/chewing. Seems strange the Skunk2 ones have done that.

Love all the wee details though, really does make all the difference to the bay B)

  • 3 weeks later...

So poor old tubs had been sat on my drive for 3 weeks after the porus sump decided to become a perforated sump and shat oil everywhere.

Took her to get the replacement on (mechanic had a nightmare with siezed bolts on that and exhaust mani) yesterday, and mot today. He called me and said that it had passed with just a couple of advisories.. Rear tyres and rear disks and pads..  He couldn't believe it had passed okay (and he used to work as a tech at honda).

Made of stern stuff these m's.

Now just need to get her cleaned up a bit for next week's fun :D
