  4. The one wheeled guy tom gave some great advice which was to put paint on the mounting screws and place where your going to mount it, then drill, think that's right.... Key to doing anything like this is patience.... and chocolate, I would recommend a double decker for this job....

  7. Thanks everyone for your comments and sorry for being lazy updating you all. So the exhaust was fitted on Thursday. I was recommended by 3 people to go to this guy and I am so glad I did. Top quality work he has done and when he started the car after fitting it I was like Yesssssss that's exactly the sound I wanted not too loud but just a deep sporty sound. So here we go with the pics The stock backbox I got this one not so long ago so it still looks in good condition. So the exhaust is off. Underneath my car doesn't look too bad. No signs of rust at all. And my wrapping on the manifold is holding well. Pleased about that So he cut the flange from my old centre pipe and then the EK mid pipe was a bit short so he welded that piece to make it fit perfectly So the centre pipe sorted. Now onto the backbox. He cut the pipe of from the backbox and fitted it on to the centre pipe. Then placed to backbox so it sat nicely in the rear lip and then welded the pipe between them. Also welded the hooks in place. Finally all done

  8. Thinking of getting my MB3 remapped now that it has the induction and exhaust system, but I dont see many people talking about remapping on here, and wonder, is there a reason? So I thought before bothering the guys at Promap, has anybody done theirs? Would I see much gains at all?

  13. Another couple of jobs out the way, peace of mind for a while, insurance is a PITA, I sorted mine yesterday, got a good deal from Adrian flux though £10 more than my renewal quote but with all mods declared and including better breakdown cover than I have and saving the £45 for that. Wheels look absolutely mint, seems a shame to take that paint off and respray but black is not right.

  21. Standards are 15" and these are 16" so need new ones! I think red ones would suit the gunmetal/anthracite colour I want them to end up! Would need the regular type rather than tapered nut but that detail can be addressed later, can't afford to do anything else with them this month but they will eventually become the 'winter' wheels! Have another set to buy yet as the 'show' rims!

  27. Liking this, taken days to read through it all, quick question, you said 3 people had recommended your zorst guy? Who is the guy, Whats his location? how much does he charge? I ask this but if its, you know, a bit nosey of me feel free to tell me to do one, is he in the Midlands? trying to find a non rip off regular garage that knows what they are taking about, I called a guy a week ago about my brakes and he was adamant I had drums on the back and told me I was wrong when I said it was disks....

  28. Nice one on the fogs chap, need a daytime shot though so we can see how the yellow looks. There's a how to on meshing a grill or have a go at wrapping or painting it yourself, most of of us have done our own one way or another and we're certainly not all geniuses. If you get a spare one from a breaker you can take your time with it and get it how you want it.

  40. To be honest when that badboy is fitted you prob won't even be able to see those rust spots unless you get on your knees and study it closely.. Looks wicked with the polishing mate looking forward to seeing it on and most importantly THE VIDEO TO FOLLOW...

  41. Looking good mate looks nice and shiny and i wouldnt worry to much about that tiny bit pf rust, impressed with the effort you gone to on the car and be nice to see it at japfest

  42. It will but it's like sandpaper in that respect if you start with a coarse wool to remove the rust and then move to a finer grade to take the scratches out. As Stephen said though it depends how deep the rust is, if it goes all the way through the only way to get rid is to cut it out. You could try a coarse paper or a grinder to take the worst off.
