So after some looking around which seemed for eternity I finally picked up a VTI Aerodeck. All the cheaper ones went so quick and so saw one on Gumtree that had been there for a while but was up in Dewsbury, a good 3 and a half hours away. I had originally wanted to wait until my CRV had sold but I thought to just go for it and stop procrastinating. On the Saturday my father and I set of at 7:30am to head up and look at the Aerodeck and basically buy it. I had a agreed with the seller that I was going to come up and was very interested. The problem was that after committing to the journey the seller had also committed to getting it through it's MOT no matter the cost. The original agreed price was was £1300 which was I would think mid range price range as I had seen them go as cheap as £550 and as high as £1800 dependant on condition and spec. This one was at 63,000miles in Baikal Green but had been stood for a year, with that I was dubious but went anyway. Got there and I went against all the buying conventions, not seeing it first, raining and the car was running. So I couldn't tell the condition of the body or engine - grrrrrrr. However it did pass it's MOT so it was legal but it had not been cared for as it was stood for a long while and the seller was a builder/joiner by trade and used it for work purposes. Reason he was selling was that he had a fall at work and was not able to drive a manual car. After chatting and looking over it and seeing what needed to be replaced or fixed and my dad spotting a dodgy tyre and getting him to replace both rear tyres we agreed a sale on £1200 also including a full replacement interior, door cards, carpet and Powerflow mid section and back box. I don't mind a little project but there is a long list, especially after looking at it in the cold light of day! Drove it down from Dewsbury and I must say it is a really nice engine, pulled well and sweet through the gears. Probably the best engine in a car that I've owned so far. It's a nice comfy ride albeit the bounciness and the skittishness of pulling away hard - hopefully that's down to the tyres. Anyway here's some pics: Bad drivers window rubber and suspected worn teeth on the regulator. Random coloured driver's side wing mirror - cracked! Mash up heater vent! Sunroof seal tatty! This is the state of centre console - was ripped out due to screws rusted. Here's some good bits! 64,000 miles (after driving it back) Nice and clean... from a distance! Finally here's a to do list! It was done after spending Sunday morning fitting the new interior... well the rear seats - was way too cold to do the fronts and carpet! Parts needed: Drivers wing mirror Passenger wing mirror glass Drivers side window rubber Front passenger window rubber Plastic cover under steering wheel Middle vent Armrest console Grab handle screw covers x 3 Floor mats Rear load replacement carpet section Rear side covers Rear load cover New tyres x 4 (maybe!) New spare wheel tyre Tools New car key New alarm system or new fob Sun-roof rubber seal Original air filter box Front passenger lower fog light Passenger front headlight washer jet surround Passenger upper wish bone Bodywork to look at: Front passenger wing Drivers front wing rust coming through Other things to do: ABS light Handbrake light Check steering componentsOnce writing the list it has put me off a little as I really wanted something cleaner and more complete BUT I am determined to save it and have it back to it's original former glory. Just have to get on with it even if it I've got most of the parts on the way from a local Aerodeck being broken for parts, so means a weekend full of cold tinkering. It's a daily so I'll be finding little things wrong and also finding awesome things about it. Future plans (that are not basic upkeep and fixing) MGZS rear ARBClay and polishCoilovers probably Meister or BCHave a look at possible wheel options. Will hope to update regularly, hope I can save it too after initial high purchase price. Cheers Jason2 points

Possibly but given the price breakers want for the same used items there's not much difference, plus new! Like floor mats for example!1 point

No worries chap, I know you didn't mean anything by it, I usually just ban the p1ss takers If you're using the full version of the forum (On a computer, laptop usually) then on the left under your avatar (picture) it has your post count - currently 53. There's a few threads in the "Off topic" section you can use to bump it up1 point

Salt spreaders were out in force on the M6 last weekend. Glad I didn't take the MB6 out, last time I had the MB3 out the salt spreaders removed half the lacquer from the bonnet! The E36 just cruises on through with no issues. Oh and the MB3 still starts and drives, just goes to show how tough a D-series is! If only the bodywork had the same durability...1 point

The only problem I can think is the flange on the new manifold might be at a different angle to the one on the CAT, but that could be cut and welded back on at the angle needed. Or a decat is a good way around it too, I would say have one custom made so you can be assured it'll be correct in the length and marry up to the flange too. I think adjustable decat/test pipe would be okay too but I've had no experience with those. Hope this helps!1 point

Ok sorry for the wait! My girlfriend's been totally bedridden with influenza so have had to prioritize. But anyway here we go: The install was a breeze. Gave a proper lube to all the nuts and bolts and everything came out easy. No seized anythings or problems whatsoever. The BC's fit perfect so the whole thing was done quite quickly. I set the the height to about the same as it was before and left the preload and damping to the factory settings, which are 2-3mm and 8 clicks from hardest. Took it for a test drive and it was sweet as saccharine! Even with the harder 12/10kg springs and relatively hard damping setting it was at the same time so much more comfortable but also firmer than the old H&R coils. My mate who has a 2008 BMW coupe with oem shocks & eibach springs said my ride is more comfy than his, and he's the kind of you guy who will give you crap any time he gets the chance! So i believe him. For the ride home as a test i set the damping all the way to the softest and the ride was like resting your head between a nice set of b**bies. I'm totally in love with these! Before i would try to avoid every single manhole, crack and bump on the road but now i find myself searching for them, just to make sure if the damping is really as comfortable as i think it is! The only downside i can think of at the moment is the ride height in the rear. It's at as high as it'll go, which is ok for winter driving and HOPEFULLY ok for when the car is fully loaded. Maybe it'll work out if i set the damping on hardest. Luckily i very rarely have to drive with a full load, so i took the chance and decided to keep these. On the bright side: now i can slam the car lower than i'll ever need to! So all in all: they're awesome. Can't wait for the roads to melt and set it all the way to the hardest and give the deck a proper trashing! Here are a few photos: The old right rear, leaking "just a bit" New one in: Front: Current height: Max ride height at rear:1 point

Plus, how much benefit would you really see from say putting £5000 just into a bottom end to rev a little bit more, might not even make much more power the bit higher up the revs.1 point

To be honest I much prefer the Integra DC2 spoiler but whoever fitted it shouldn't have to drill holes on the edge of the boot! I got those carbon look-a-like dash trims in mine (I removed them from a MGZS 180) I'm not too sure about them either. You lot probably think I'm mad but I am thinking about putting the wood trims back in1 point
