  4. Here's the brake stopper i talked about earlier, finally painted racing red and fitted! I modded the mounting holes and did some dry-fits to get it to align exactly against the middle of the master cylinder, but after tightening everything all the way it's still a bit off the center... now it's a bit down and to the right. Hope it doesn't matter too much. But main thing is: more bling in the bay! p.s. note my hella rad bc racing damping adjustment knob!

  6. Well, let's get into this. Friday before last I went to pick up some headlights for my car (stock with painted inners), I knew my clutch was bad but then I'd assumed it was the original clutch on 107k miles, I traveled 25 miles to the guy to get the headlights and on the way as the car was warm, I started getting clutch slip in 4th, 5th and 6th, not good when you're on the M25 going 60 and you put your foot down and nothing happens. Oops. The area I picked them up from was full of boy racers, including an Astra VXR that tried it on in greasy conditions. I figured my clutch had one last launch and 1st to 3rd were somewhat usable. Then I realised it was a private road. Anyway I got the headlights and got them home: But then I had to sort out the clutch didn't I? So a Genuine Honda clutch kit was ordered and promptly delivered: Then onto fitting the clutch, what a ballache of a job this was, had to drop the subframe, remove the alternator, starter motor, pulleys, belt, airbox, pretty much most of the engine bay ancillaries: Then when the clutch was all done, the headlights went on Looks way more aggressive in my opinion, better in person actually and at night especially when the cars off it has that stealth look! Quick pic outside work: And after doing the clutch, wow what a difference, the old one had really had it, it was the original clutch that's gone through 6 previous owners and over 100k miles! The car is now way smoother to drive, any notchiness is gone, it feels brilliant and sharp and a lot faster than it already was... But anyway, let's get to the main point here. I got home and my delivery had arrived. What could be in these then? Better open one to have a better look inside eh? Smaller one probably first.. Wait, what's this? Yes it is, my CF spoiler had arrived. Not quite overnight parts, but very very happy. But then they also came with these: This must be a hint to what's in the bigger box, if you haven't guessed it already.. it is my carbon fibre bonnet! I haven't opened the box yet because then mum will have to deal with a expensive bonnet sitting unboxed in the living room! But yeah that's the updates for now.. bring on show season 2015 and fitting!

  8. ha ha brilliant!! i've thought about getting an underseat sub for the smx as it means that i can still put the seat down but i'm tempted to just get a small 10" one

  10. Thanks for the support guys. I'll be keeping it for now and will be getting the cambelt, waterpump dealt with first and that would also give me a chance to look at the state of the head - then we go from there! Once that has been solved will then look at the ABS...

  14. That's true, I've had subs facing the same way in the back before. Plus if she enjoys having the sub under the seat, bonus!

  15. If you are working to a relatively tight budget, you have a very limited choice. Don't forget (unless you've already done so) that when lowering the car, you also change all the camber angles so to stop your tyres wearing away on the insides you'll need to compensate with adjustable arms etc. Stock DC2 LCA's on the rear are 50mm wide (if you find ones with the same style as our MB/MC's), where ours are 40mm from memory. If you look a the Miester R setup you'll see that the rears come with shims (well washers) to make up the difference in arm thickness You'll want an even drop front and rear, as Tom says the stock setup gives some chassis rake so if you lower both the front and back by the same amount you'll be okay. If you don't you're also changing the caster angle and weight balance. The stock front/rear ride height difference isn't much but try to keep it - it's there for a reason! Finally, search through the forum/facebook page as see what peoples experience is with eBay setups. Personally, I agree with Krzys, go cheap pay twice. Coilovers would give you the flexibility to get the chassis levels spot on but if you go budget don't expect the ride or handling to be great - you get what you pay for!

  16. Firstly mate, 4 miles to work .. Id walk .. Its probably an air lock issue by the sounds of it .. And the pressure of the air in the system is forcing itself out somewhere .. Perhaps by the thermostat if its not been sealed properly. Either way, as you've had it done by a mechanic, there's not a lot of point looking into it, just take it back and let him sort it ..

  17. Downloaded the EG and DC2 workshop manuals from some other sites. As our cars are supposed to share so much with these chassis it seemed a good idea to add them to the library of tech info I've been gathering!

  19. Probly, depending on tyres. It'll still be low, though! Use willtheyfit.com to help visualize differences between different sized wheel/tyre combos.

  29. Absolutely a load of swearing in there chap! There's always that one bolt! Plus your on your back which is never fun working! My suggestion would be to get under there the day before and soak the bolts in WD40 or similar. It's more than likely a D clamp that is holding back box to B pipe if it's standard. Worse comes to the worst you'll snap the bolts and need to replace the D clamp. So buy one to be on the safe side. You'll be fine though. I've done my whole system on my back.

  32. As standard the front is 10mm lower, if you level it out you'll actually upset the handling. You should aim to lower the car equally on all four corners. Why does everyone want to lower their cars for £100 this week? Go cheap, go twice!

  33. Yeah when i got my pro tuning coilies they were off a ek coupe i think and on the highest setting it still mega rubbed... I had to make a couple of top mount spacers with longer mount studs to get them sitting right!... Did the job but it didnt improve the coilies so got rid anyway lol!

  34. Hello! Lately I do not have time for the car, but the project continues .... 2 days ago I noticed that my windshield was cracked and it will change .... As I prepared with some clips ..... If some of them break (which will happen) hahaha Here are the numbers of the original ones, if someone need it .... 91508-SM4-003 CLIP, COWL TOP 91515-SR3-000 CLIP, RR. HOOD 91511-ST3-E00 CLIP D, FR. WINDSHIELD SIDE MOLDING 91505-ST3-E01ZB CLIP, LINING *NH120L* For red, no number, because generally sold as a kit with several clips.. Like these:http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-DCJ100090 Like these:http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-DCJ100100 Also decided to change the hoses for the washing system! With cool blue ones with inscriptions samco (probably will get over 10 horsepower) hahahaha .... I do not like the original, especially in winter, I feel that it would break so hard getting into the cold weather ... p.p.For tires .... for several months no problem, either dry or wet ... Much quieter than Debica Frigo 2 .... And much better behavior in the wet ... For snow are just wonderful, no problems ..
